Learning a language CAN be done, and it has huge benefits
Learning a new language when you are older is very hard; I have zero interest in learning a language other than knowing 50-100 words + Google Translate.
I'm 64 and learning my fourth foreign language--Portuguese for a trip to Brazil later this year--and my experience in learning languages is that it is challenging but the hard work in learning a language always pays off. I'm a fairly proficient Spanish speaker and I spent two weeks in Colombia in 2022, only speaking Spanish. I met a 27 year old woman in Medellin I had been practicing Spanish with online and got to spend time with her over two days. That would not have been possible if I didn't know the language. It really does open up a new world.
Plus, learning Spanish opens up nearly all of the Americas, from Mexico on south, which would give you more possibilities. Put in the time to really learn it. It's worth it.
Totally Agree On Languages

Even learning to get a very basic level of social conversation is helpful as I see how folks there really appreciate you trying and the overall interactions with them will be so much more enriching, not only with the girls but even chats with Uber drivers during rides, ordering food, etc. On another note just for ourselves, apparently learning new languages when we are older can help prevent Alzheimers and other mental functions. This makes sense because if we don't use it and in this case, our minds to learn new skills, we start to crumble mentally.
