Mortman: "Flying is possible from Bangkok (for rich guys, I know there are many)
Air Asia's slogan- Now everyone can fly. I always book BKK-Udon roundtrip for 2000 bahts or less on line. Now even poor people can fly.
Go to Udon for a night or two then have 4-5 little Lao cuties from ban-puying a day. Still cheaper than venture out to BKK night spots.
Soon I will visit my girl friend in Kham Ta Kla, a district in SakkonNakkon.
I can stay at her house, but I rather stay in a hotel.
My problem is that I can not find a hotel near Kham Ta Kla.
Paulo, chances are this district doesn't have any hotels or guesthouses.
Even the provincial capital of the Sakon Nakhon doesn't have too much to offer. The Kham Ta Kla district is over 100 kilometres from the capital and is most likely a rural area with no such facilities. The centre of Kham Ta Kla may have a small guesthouse but even this could be far from your girl's house.
You'll probably have no choice other than to stay in her village. Staying in an Issan village can be good fun, you'll get used to it after the first day. If you're not enjoying yourself they'll be plenty of cousins offering you Lao-Khao to help you adjust.
You've been invited to meet the parents, turning down their hospitality may be seen as an insult. If you really don't want to stay with her family just tell her.
Unless you're planning to marry this girl it's a little inappropriate to even visit in the first place.
word you keep hearing is "sopaynee"/"โสเภณี" it means "prostitute".
CB,
It’s NOT me hearing sopaynee (ok I spelt it suepaynee) its me using / writing it. Those of us who have been around know bahn poo ying / hong sopaynee translate to brothel or the other word w-house that got replaced with ***** by the moderator.
Traveler,
I do hear galee used by tuk tuk drivers / men’s talk (no women around) etc but I refrain from using galee when conversing with Thai’s because:
A/ Can be confused with curry (pong galee = Turmeric)
B/ Thai's consider it vulgar speak - as you say less educated.

This is a district in SakkonNakkon.

Here are many experienced Thai-fans and I hope that somebody can give me any information about hotels and Kham Ta Kla.
Please ....please.......help me !
Khop Kun Khap
Paulothai,
I second everything that Coma has said.
Staying upcountry isn't that bad even though her home might look quite simple and often dirty to you. I posted some pics about two weeks ago how an average home of a farmer looks like Have a look at it, download them and ask your GF if her home is like that. If you can't bear it you should better decline her offer.
Anyway, as Coma said, if you don't have any honest intentions regarding that girl you shouldn't show up there. She will automatically be marked as a prostitute in case people do not know about you. That's their first thought when a Thai stays with a farang. Maybe it will turn into jealousy as soon as the big bucks roll in
Ban Kham Ta Kla is exactly 109kn north of Sakhon Nakhon with an estimated population of around 12.000. So there should be a hotel or at least something that can be called like that. Why not call TAT and ask them, maybe they have a hotel directory.

Danuk experience
Danuk is still much alive. This was my third overnight stay at this cowboy town and kinda grew to love it despite Hatyai getting all the glory. I've always liked Betong's afternoon pub scene and all the nude / topless ago go dancers but I didn't know that this town do offer such experiences. (Maybe me. Kinda slow lah! )
Headed to a hotel called Oscar along the main road and paid RM 65 for a room, I think it's kinda expensive because other smaller hotels offer between RM 35 to 45. The Thai massage, as usual is good. Would normally go for oil massage with HJ at the end. Just paid the extra rm 10 only above the norm.
Night scene
Checked out Spider. Topless dancers, some stupid shows - scrony guys doing stunts (who wanna see? ). Dun want to get into details. Lots of yound puyings around.
Sha-la-la CAfe. Wow. Lots of techno and quite similar to Spider. I was told by a massage girl that Sha-la-la is better. BUt I think you should also check both out as they are quite to each other.
I preferred Bangkok Cafe because the girls are more tasteful to my standards. Most puyings are from Hatyai as I came to know it rather than localised Danukians and its surroundings. Actually surrounded by so many puyings and never had so much attention in my life. Hehehe, I guess maybe it's weekdays, puying > customers. Ended up with a very yummy and beautiful puying, Noi's the name. Finger licking goood! Ohh. Yes there's a water tub in the middle of the cafe with puying dancing in the tub! ? These's are good attractions? Beers (rm 14 per large bottle), girls, music, . Water tube?
There are many other cafes/ around town, just follow the pounding of the beat! The town is small so you just need to open your ears, and it will lead you to a puying's nest!
Did what a local would do. Since I had much time to spare. Took a van from Danuk to Hatyai and it only cost 50 Baht. Just wait outside the 7 eleven and a counter is available there to take your bookings. No tickets involved. The van will drop you off whereever in Hatyai. Just tell the ticketing booth personal. If you need to go back to Danuk by van again, the pick up point is at the "Pasar" in Hatyai. Just go under the pedestrian overhead bridge in front of the pasar. Also 50 Baht!
It was a good and enjoyable trip this time. And won't be my last!

Chiang Rai
Guys,
I will be in Chiang Rai again from May 6th for four or five days. Anyone fancy meeting up for a beer? Just phoned my little honey up in Chiang Rai and she tells me the police have closed most of the bars down in town, that was why she was at home instead of working. I am going to stay in the "City Welcome" a very clean, new up market guest house with en suite. Prices from 300 baht per night and right next to the night bazaar. Anyone got any up to date info on Chang Rai?

Bang Saen, Chonburi
Guys, need some up to date info on Bang Saen, i've done a goole search and a forum search, the most i can find is Galaxy Entertainment Complex and Happy World, Galaxy sounds great, not sure of HW, but info was from early last year, does anyone have any recent info on night spots, possible pick up bars and MP's. I know the scene is, well, there isn't one really for westerners, but TIT and there are places to go in every corner of the country, so any uptodate info would be great. If it helps in the thought process, i can get by with speaking Thai and understand the behaviour standards expected in Thai oriented places.
Appreciate your help, and naturally a full FR will be posted next week when i get back.

Satun
Hi Bros,
Will be visiting Langkawi. Just thinking whether visiting Satun across the border will be worth my while. Are they any actions in Satun?Just curious!

Plastik,
Mosques dot the skyline of Satun. This town best feature is the bus to Had Yai.
STAY AWAY!
(I didn't... I made this mistake so you don't have to suffer....:()

Satun
Hi Bros,

Kplastik man
There is virtually nothing to do in Satun. As Freeler said, it's propably better to stay away. However, people are very friendly and not so tourist oriented as elsewhere in Thailand.
Still you better off by taking bus to Had Yai or Trang. When I was coming from Langkawi to Satun, it was very difficult to locate bus station and get information about schedules because of the language barrier. Even getting from Tha Thammalang pier to Satun town was a challenge. We took a local bus with million stops (4-5 hours!) to Trang which is a beutifull city with non-commercial attitude and very inexpensive compared to many other cities in Thailand. There is some action in Trang if you ask Tuk-Tuk drivers. Prices are way lower than in Krabi or Had Yai while quality stays the same.
Guys, need some up to date info on Bang Saen
I have been going to BangSaen for over 10 years, you are right, there is no scene.
Galaxy is way too expensive, too much mafia hanging around.
Just across from the university some karaoke's and bars have sprung up the last few years, pretty nice to hangout and meet girls and see some nice Thai bands. Very enjoyable.
Burdock disco is a favorite with students and the girls get pretty wild, i love this place. (Be a bit carefull as 2 shootings have taken place there the last few years, last january cops have shot some guys as well)
There is another disco next door, forgot the name. Didnt like that one. (Some Muslim guy outside making trouble)
At the small karaoke's you can sit outside, enjoy the girls, they are really fun and many lookers. Prices are very, very good!
At the corner of beachroad and second road, where the motorbike taxi's are, you can get a good massage, 200 Baht for 2 hours! These girls are very willing to come to your room as well!
At the north end of the boulevard is Xylem pub, last year called BangSaen House, and this year changed again, forgot the name. Nice in the weekends as Bangkokians party and drink there. Week days are a bore.
Further north lots of restaurants with live music, no scene there as well.
Actually I will be scouting for a new place as, for me, too many farangs are there now. Some ugly old gays hang around, not my cup of tea.
Enjoy!

Out of this world !
What a dilema, Sid and i enjoyed the services of 2 very talented ladies in a suite room, we drank, ate and we had a lot of fun, the girls were game for absolutely ANYTHING, they were swopping with us, all 4 of us were in the jacuzzi it was amazing, the cost was 1,900 Baht for 2 hrs, per girl, which included the 2 bedroom VIP suite. First shot and all the fun was included, second shot was 500 baht to the girl who achieved it. The trouble is i don't want to say where it was, this place could easily be ruined by overpaying or underpaying holidayers and this place would then lose its appeal, the girls become hardened, and the whole experience be just like any other in Bangkok.
The brothers who i would tell the location too, most if not all senior members, will probably know it already, so nothing lost, PM if you want the venue, i just don't want this gem of a place to be ruined by lurkers, stingies, and loaders.
Anyone who wants to find it themselves could do so without any difficulty, but forgive me for not pointing thousands of sex mongers to this gem just yet.
Other than that, plenty of mafia types down alleys willing to have a beer with you and offer you ladies of the night, we managed to be out partying until 5.30am. We even managed to get picked up off of the street by 2 girls from ABAC university driving a VIOS, the driver had more money than i could ever dream of, we had a good laugh, but it was clear from the start it was only going to be freindship, nice girls, both 18yrs old !
Happy World was crap, 1,900 for FB or 600 for white coat grandma's, enjoyed a beer but didn't play.
Galaxy was okay, FB, again grandma's on the right in white coats 600 Baht, some cuties on the left, 1,700 Baht, sidelines sat along a bar on the right for 1,900 Baht. Hung on till 6pm to see what the 'No Bra' entailed, it simply meant that some of the sideliners downstairs came upstairs and slipped there bra's off, still wearing a blouse or shirt, so not topless, just free flow titties, these were also 1,900 Baht. Had a lovely from the No Bra, real fun girl, great interaction and up for most things, room was fine, big round bed, double bath. Had BBBJ, FS and was offered Bareback and anal !
Asia Massage, didn't get to it, we were stuck in traffic going through Chonburi when i saw Forum shopping centre on the right, we were in the right hand lane, and slightly behind to the left was an alley and the big red sign, tried to pull across but traffic was too thick, not as difficult to find as previously mentioned though.
Peace,
M

@ Erikla
Thanks for the info, unfortunately i'm reading it after getting back, the disco info would have been handy, and the pre-knowledge of the mafia around Galaxy also handy, but we figured it pretty quick and managed to enjoy ourselves.
Definetly a rough edge to the place late at night though, there were a few guys just looking for an excuse to get nasty :( but overall it was fine.
