I just arrived in Abu Dhabi for the first time taking a break from the World Cup in Doha. Doha was really boring with almost no action outside of one club (Qube) which wasn't even very good, just older asians. I thought Abu Dhabi would be easy like Dubai but looking at MR the choices seem limited. I did read back a lot of pages and I'll try some of the AMPS out. Of course the reviews of Yoyo look great so like many new visitors I'd love to see her. Thailand is the main place I visit so it's always fun to meet Thai ladies.

I promise to post any experiences I have here, but if anyone can help me out a bit it would really be appreciated.

Easiest AMP is probably the MA apartment hotel place next to pizza hut, decent variety but photos are photoshopped and facility isn't that nice.

There's a Pizza Hut just a 5 minute walk from my hotel (LE Meridien, not LRM) so maybe that's the right one. I'll keep researching but any more tips even in a DM would really be appreciated.

Also, I was in such a hurry to book all the parts of this trip (I'm in the region for World Cup) that I booked LE Meridien when I meant to book the LRM. I was hoping for a quick hookup in Illusions up to my room. Not on this site but I read elsewhere on the Internet that the 2 clubs here, The Exchange and New Bar Arkadia also have WGs at least sometimes. Since I'm right here I'll check them out.

I was told several times it transforms into a night club later. Since it's so convenient I'll probably stick to this club and The Exchange later. I walked around the little restaurant village part here and it's pretty cool. Makes me feel less bad about booking the 'wrong' LE Meridien.

I was in Abu Dhabi for 3 nights during World Cup and based on reports (thanks guys) stayed at the LE Meridien. It wasn't until I check in though that I realized I wanted to be at the LE Royal Meridien because of the Illusions bar, but I screwed up. It turns out the LE Meridien was OK too.

The first night I had dinner at the 49 er Steak House right at the hotel, as I was told it turns into a club with action at night. It was just a standard ok steak restaurant until later when the bar customers start showing up.

After dinner I decided to check out the Exchange around the back of the Meridien restaurant area. I made the mistake of going there when I first finished dinner at about 9:30 and it was totally dead, so I went back around midnight and it was pretty full. But for me the bar totally sucked. First, it's rather small and crowded, so by midnight there were no tables or not even a place to put down your beer. If you stand near the bar these total dickhead security dudes rudely tell you to move, same if you stand anywhere not near a table. They are super rude. I finally got a space on the counter along the back, but was in sort of a pissed off mood and there wasn't much available talent. I saw a handful of girls with guys, and in the front of the bar groups of girls sitting at tables. But it would be awkward to go try to pick one up with the loud music I thought. Oh and because it's small and everybody smokes, it's incredibly smoky in there. I finished 2 beers and was out of there. Interesting the guys at the door outside the club and at the stand as you enter the building were all cool, it's just the security inside who were dicks.

It was a lot later so I went back to the 49 er and sure enough it was packed but for me a lot better place. The music was less loud so I could have a conversation and there was room to find a seat at a shared table. Like Exchange, they do not allow anyone to stand at the bar and encourage you to sit, but they're not dicks about it. I found some fun Viet girls and chatted them up, bought a few rounds, and took the one who seemed more fun up to my room. Had a great time for 500.

The second night I went back to 49 ers again and there was pretty much the same girls, but not the Viets from the night before. It was Dec 31st and I was able to wrap up my work assignments early to drive back to Dubai. I'd seen this spa advertising on Inst which is on the top floor of a Hotel apartment on Najda st. And they had listed a promotion. Since it was barely 12 pm, I pinged them and immediately got a reply. Went up the lift, no questions asked and I had to circle around a bit on the top floor to locate the flight of stairs leading up to the spa.

Massage + Moroccan bath was 200/- so I said I'll take that and I saw a Thai bird walking by. It was their spa uniform, but it was short and she flashed a friendly smile. Easy decision to make!

Was in the mood to try something new this week. While out and about in town copied the number down from a couple cards that were on the ground. Didn't find any reviews on here and said why not.

Shwarma MP is opposite the main bus terminal. 1 red 1 HR. Got a newer Thai dish. Looked about average. The appetizers before hand were pathetic and of no value or skill. Appetizer lasted for only 10 min before being bugging about the main dish. Communication with the server was tough but she did smile and had a pleasant attitude. The mutton was offered for 2 reds and came complete with its own fur sweater. Mutton was tough so sent it back as my little friend Johnny didn't seem very interested. The server "handled" the issue and the dining event came to a close. The restaurant had very tiny tables and was noisy from the poor ceiling, you could hear other guests seated at tables next to yours. I would rate this place a 2/10. 3 red total for the dining experience.

Second new restaurant was in the camp area.i will name it studio 9 mp. 1 red for the 1. HR dinner option and Indy was on the menu despite advertisements for Thai, Vietnam, malasian. I have never had a good Indy meal here in uae yet as everyone I have tried always seems cold and lifeless. Another small tabled room a little better than the first place. Server started with appetizer which were dry and lasted about 15 minutes before being asked for main course. 1 pt above the the previous place so far. Main was served and was close to average, it was a little better than any of my other indy encounters. Server had a good attitude and told. Me to come. Back again for the Clam dish and she left happy. Another 3 red dinner. This place 4/10.
