New To The DR
So I've been reading all the DR boards and I'm trying to figure out where to go in the DR. I have a 5 day weekend the first week in November. I'm an experienced monger in Costa Rica and Brazil but since I have a free plane ticket to the Carribean, I figured i'd try some where new. I thought about staying at Blackbeards since that seems to be a good spot for DR newbies. If you read through my posts, you can see I give a lot back to the board. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Blackbeard's is a great choice if you can fly in and out of POP. While there you can take a taxi to Sosua and see if you like it. Otherwise you have everything you need in one place without the hassles of figuring anything out. Most things of interest you may have read about are accessible.
I was in Sosua and Santo Domingo recently and yes, there's a clean up going on. Sosua still had ladies, specially at night but they were afraid of being picked up and the area in El Conde (SD) had very little action. No, it's not a hoax!
If you can read Spanish, this will tell you what's going on:
Directly from Politur website:

POLITUR, FISCALIA Y POLICIA NALCIONAL ENCABEZAN OPERATIVOS EN ZONAS DE RECREACION TURISTICA.
Durante el operativo fueron halladas decenas de armas blancas y otros objetos cortantes, así como también la sustancia denominada “plomerito ó acido del diablo”, que portaban muchas de las mujeres detenidas.
It was astounding to me how girls defend themselves, in Punta Cana I met two of them that told me they had disposable blades in their purses just to fight other girls. But that notice tops everything, "plomerito o acido del diablo" is a strong acid used by plumbers to unblock pipes...

Blackbeards has attractive women and they are on site, so no hassles and no being out like on safari.
Sosua is more you go out and hunt. The hunting is easy, but it is still more of a hunt than blackbeards.
Really depends what you like. Blackbeards has everything on site, food, rooms, drinks and chicas in a safe and secure environment.
If you have done costa rica and brasil, I don't think you would have any problem in Sosua.

Sosua in Google Earth
I've put together a modest Google Earth "KML" file of hotels, some bars & restaurants, and places I found of interest in Sosua:
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=953715&filename=Westy's Sosua.kmz
The list is neither comprehensive nor complete - but I hope at least that it will help some other newbies find their way around this town....

Sosua is the place to go if you want to bar hop, try restaurants, and watch the chica parade. Socua is not hard to figure out. Read the posts. Everything you need to know is there. Expect to pay 1000-1500 for ST and 2000-2500 for TLN in Sosua. My advice is not to negotiate. If the chica rejects your offer another willing chica will be standing behind her. BB has set prices. Spanish is not necessary. But it is nice to be able to communicate with the chica while recharging. You need to decide if you would rather have the party atmosphere of Socua or the remote layback BB experience.

You may not be able to get into Blackbeard's on such short notice, but several of the Sosua hotels on Calle Dr. Rosen were showing "vacancy" signs last week and a couple of them had up signs for pretty good 'special' rates. Example - Sea Breeze had a rate of 3 nights for $100 US on their sign.
My experience of Sosua, last week, was that it was pretty wild & wooly for me, at my level of experience. I could see it was great for the more experienced and self-assured mongers, though. As John from NJ puts it, Blackbeard's is more laid-back and relaxed, and the new mamasan speaks very good English if that's a need.
I hit both places last week, and I must admit I was more comfortable with "Barba Negra". As I told Tim, the manager - "I spent four nights at the New Garden to get a taste of Sosua this trip, and it took a lot of kisses from your chicas here at Blackbeard's to get the taste of Sosua out of my mouth!"

That is because New Garden lets the broads in to harass you. Perla de Sosua is hidden and has the Big Metal Gate. They also have a staff that understands that when you get the girl out the gate it's over.

Now that I've googled Perla de Sosua, it looks like a very good option ... maybe I need to add it to my Google Earth script. Thank you!
BTW, Lancer - and others who are looking at their first time in Sosua - there are plenty of options besides the New Garden. I chose it for this, my first Sosua trip, because so many reports here just-about have it branded as Monger Central. I was able to learn a lot from the more experienced punters that were staying there, and I do appreciate it!

I did not rent from them. I rented one bedroom condominium apartments through Marco at Rockys, at the tradewinds building for $45 per night with a $50 deposit, numerous times.
Perla de Sosua is down a small street from the banco popular, at the bottom of a hill. There is a large metal gate, then a parking area and then the rooms. I have no idea what their security deposit requirement is presently. There was no way I was going to deposit $500 dollars as security into some paypal account for a 5 night one bedroom apartment rental.

Considering a trip to either BB or Sosua. My preference is younger, tighter 19 to early twenties preferably with no children. I'm not as attracted to the effects of ladies who have bambinas ( saggy breasts, stretch marks). I know it may sound picky but it's just my preference.
It seems as though Latina ladies have children at a young age. I found the same in Buenos Aires. Had a difficult time finding tight, early twenties without children.
Is this readily available in Sosua/Blackbeards or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Appreciate any comments.
