It ranges from excellent to extremely bad, although the really bad ones are less frequent nowadays. Some of the copies used to be filmed using a hand-held camera in a cinema with the sound echoing and even people moving across in front of the screen. I have one of those to prove it is not folk-lore. Thankfully it is not so common these days.

Interestingly enough, the couple of X-rated or porno videos I have seen are very clear copies.

So are some of the live music concerts that I have bought. I have very good quality AC / DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruce Springsteen concerts, and a great 4 dvd set of Pink Floyd to name just a few.

It pays to get the seller to test and let you preview them on the TV that is usually nearby (unless out on the street of course). In almost every case if I have found a dud I have had it readily replaced when I go back.

I have a trusted source in the St Francis Tiangge in Ortigas who will tell me if the quality is not good and that I should wait for a better copy. She also gives me a discount if I buy 3 or more at any one time so I bring family and friends there to stock up.

Quality of boxed sets though is now far higher here in China.

Now that I am in the Philippines I buy a lot of clearly fake DVDs. The quality is generally ok and are far more affordable than in the western world! As a result I have come to better appreciate the range of artists, songs, and with karaoke DVDS the lyrics of the songs.

Sometimes the translations are a laugh. I have "The First Clit is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow;"Another Lay in Paradise" by Phil Collins, and a collection of songs by Bon Jom.

What can be frustrating is the so called English translation running under a movie in English. I have a fake copy of the new movie Les Miserables (very good) spoken in English but with gobbledygook English sub-titles underneath. I guess the original English was translated into Chinese and then someone has translated this Chinese back into meaningless English.

By the way where is "Makati Cinema Square"? Is this the converted shopping centre, movie houses now gone, across the road and adjacent to Eurotel Makati? There are many DVD shops there, and I found one specialising in classical music.

Theres a store inside that has really high quality fake guns too. No idea why you need a fake gun, but they have excellent copies of all gun types.

I recall most if not all the DVD shops are in the basement. If you like good Japanese food the Little Tokyo complex is next door. The restaurant across the side street from the MCS parking lot entrance, i.e. NOT the ones on Pasong Tamo (aka Chino Roces), is the best of the lot.

Also in St Francis Square are a bunch of guys who can convert your DVD to MP4, so that it will easily fit onto a USB, and easily carried with you. I can't recall how much they charged, but I would get a "price for 10", give them the DVDs, and the USB, and come back later to collect. Always very reliable.

No. Is it the church who can judge me? This is when I realized there are two worlds simultaneously running for each and every one of us.

The human world of laws and morals and the natural world w / all creatures included and w / no morals or concepts of right and wrong. Man's laws ever changing from country to country and from time to time. Natures law never changes, maybe a little over thousands of years. So for me I asked Nature if I'm a bad guy for going down the block or around the world for the pussy I need and the answer was no.

The answer is, sex is not only for procreation (species survival) but just as importantly leverage for the weaker sex.

The important part.

Hypothetical; What if in our evolution we (male and female humans) procreated w / seeds. Lets just say the earliest human beings had a pouch on their legs and eventually the pouch opened and the seeds mixed w / the soil and new humans were born this way. There was no sex, it was the seeds that humans relied on. If this scenario happened than today there would be no females. If sex was not required than women would have been eliminated by the much stronger males. W / out sex no women in our world. They were completely unnecessary and became extinct.

This is how I know what I'm doing is not a bad thing.

Fast forward to now 2013. Am I selfish? Shit yeah I'm selfish but I worked hard all my life and I want to self indulge. Who benefits? I do of course and more importantly the women of the Philippines benefit. This is Nature's intent, it is not an accident that I want to spend thousands of dollars in a poor country. Money is comfort and power (for the girls) and I am happily bringing as much as I can. Once again, this is not an accident.

I believe my theory just stated here on ISG. It is my opinion of course and I'll probably get some grief for it but this is what I believe. For me I have come to understand that there is only one perfect concept and that is nature. There is no right or wrong only a benevolent and cruel balance involving all things known and unknown. If you can step (way) out and look at the human race w / out bias, it gets scary. Death is as beautiful as life in nature, it's hard to stop wondering about our place here and what's really right and wrong in the human world. I know we like to cover the earth in concrete, we're good at that.

Last night a Cebu Pacific flight en route from Manila to Davao overshot the runway and all passangers had to be evacuated using the emergency slides. It seems that while the plane was on its final approach all of the runway lights went out due to a power failure. No one was killed or injured seriously, but the incident demonstrates the utter lack of concern here for public safety.

That's what I heard, for the Serendra blast.

I have a colleague who was on the unfortunate Cebu Pathetic flight that overshot the runway last night. According to him, the passengers were kept on the plane for about 30 minutes until the tower gave "permission" for the emergency debarkation; this despite the fact that according to one passenger an engine was on fire, and according to another, the smell of smoke was discernible in the the cabin. These guys are as inept in airport operations as they are with everything else having to do with public safety.

It's fascinating to read the list of reasons for the crash, which include:the windshield wiper wasn't working; the runway lights went out due to a power failure; an engine caught fire; the runway was wet and the plane hydroplaned when it hit the tarmac. I have no idea which, if any of these are actually true. However, I do know that Cebu Pathetic couldn't even transport these poor folks to the terminal, so they all had to trudge about a kilometer to safety, were offered nothing in the way of food or drink, and then had to wait until after 10 PM for their luggage. If anyone needs a metaphor for the utter contempt in which the public is held here, this one should suffice for a while. I've also been told that it took the "emergency response team" about 30 minutes to arrive. What a joke!

Since the incident occurred last night at about 7:30, until now (15:00 the next day) , there have been no flights to or from the airport and as of mid morning at least the plane was still there blocking the runway.
