The woman in front of me did exactly the same thing. Walked up to the machine and THEN opened her bag, rummaged around for her wallet to find her card etc etc etc. Same scenario.

I am always dumbfounded by the people who will stand patiently waiting in line in a coffee shop for a good 5 minutes before getting to the shop assistant and THEN deciding hmmmmmm what will I have today? Will I have a snack?

WTF were they thinking about while they shuffled forward in the line?

It really is a pain in the ass to wait for these drones. But hey! I still live here and try to chill out but when you are busy and in a hurry seems to be exactly the time when these people get in front of me. A couple of years ago, when I lived in Malaysia, I travelled often to Jakarta. I mongered a lot there but also had the chance to meet a great 21 year old student. I invited her on a Singapore trip once, which she accepted and from then on she travelled with me on most of my business trips (except to Bangkok LOL). We went to Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Saigon, Bali, Singapore and KL. I really enjoyed having this girl in my hotel room and it also meant I didn't have to go out hunting women on business trips. We lost contact when I moved to Taiwan as paying for a 6 hour flight from Jakarta was out of my league.

Fast forward and last week I saw a DIA gal who looked like her.

I commented that she looked like a ex gf and even tho this girl was in Cebu we had nice chat, and severL subsequent other nice chats. I noted that I was going to manila and after a few more chats she asked " would you like me to go to manila ". She added that she had never been on a plane. Nice 19 year old girl. At that time my schedule was full so that I had no time to take her to Manila so I told her I was working on my schedule and would let her know. Makes me fall down laughing some times to see the human collisions.

In the other part of my post, I was talking about going back to EDSA, only earlier for better selection. I made it there on Wednesday before 7:30 and the selection was indeed much better. In the first place I visited, there was a girl pushing me to sit with her, anad normally I avoid that when just entering the bar.

On this occasion I fortunately broke my own rule and sat with her. 20 minutes later I was walking out with her on my arm. She was one of that small percentage that look much better outside of the bar. Really a pretty girl and a sense of style. 23, no kids, Quezon City bred.

In all, a very good night (bar fine 1600 again. 4000 to the girl without negotiation, no mention of short time at any point).

Tonight I am going to "someplace different" with one of the taxi drivers I used this morning. We shall see, and normally I do not do that either, but sometimes breaking your own rules pays off. If there is something to report, I will, otherwise it is Burgos tonight.

Every some place different, taken to me by a taxi driver is always a "casa", you walk into a non-descript building with girls in it and you pick one, there was a huge one, now I forgot the name, but I walked in and there were like 40 girls in there, KTV style. The cabbies get a cut for taking you there.

I have always failed to understand why most Filipinos (particularly women) take so long at an ATM machine. They dilly and dally and feed their cards in 3-4 times and count and recount their money. And all this usually takes place outside in temperatures of 90+ and 100% humidity when any sane person would want to transact their business as quickly as possible and run.

Have you also noticed how, after waiting ages to get to the head of a queue, some idiot will distract the tellers attention with a stupid query, usually without even a 'by your leave', expecting you to wait another 5 minutes whilst they are dealt with.

I was in a line (queue) of 5 people the other day. It took 40 minutes to check the 5 people in, not because anyone had any weird travelling schedule or special baggage needs. No, the 3 brainless trainees who were tasked with inputting date (encoding) kept interrupting the check in girl to ask a question, share a joke, ask if their bum looked big etc. When it got to my turn (being a Grumpy Old Geezer founder member) I asked if they were having problems. She breezily replied " no, everything is normal ". I replied that if Cathay Pacific staff took 40 minutes to check in a line of 5 people, its probable their planes would never take off on time.

The reply was the classic " Sir, its different in the Philippines ". . Sure honey, and you wonder why theres no Tourism industry.

Good morning all. I am hoping someone can give me some guidance. I used to spend quite a bit of time in PI, but have not been there in almost three years. I am headed back in a few weeks and just wondering how much has changed. I used to always stay in Makati so I had quite a bit of luck with high quality at Havana, Hard Rock and non-pros just walking around. The price was always high in that area, but quality was excellent. I had the most fun though at MBC. Any new hot spots I should know about? Is MBC still the best bet?

filipinas at atms: you guys neglected to mention that 50% of them act like they have never used an atm before; not sure which way to insert the card, trying to read the instructions etc. except in makati, time is just not so precious as in the wasteland so wee are moving at wasteland speed when in the pi everything moves more slowly. it used to upset me but you cannot change it so you just must learn to deal with it.

no visa is required to take filipina to taiwan which is part of asean (30 days tourist visa granted automatically upon arrival). that said, trying to send them out alone is very risky as many younger girls get barred from their flight as suspected victims of illegal recruitment (for employment overseas). better to accompany them out of pi, no problem for them returning alone.

I have taken two ladies to Taiwan in past few months and both have had to go to Taiwan Cultural office in Makati, show bank acount, show proof of income with employment letter and proof of ticket, and only then been issued with a visa. Wish there was no visa requirement, but there is. No visa in passport and you won't get past the outgoing airport.
