Quick response. I go to KTV's quite often alone. One in particular where the hotel owner is a friend and I get treated very well as a regular. Also have gone in CP alone in the Walter hotel. Took the package deal (room x beers and snacks for one price) , and two girls LT (priced separately of course).wasn't a bad night! You can still have fun, just make sure you know the prices up front, Paper and hand gestures work OK. Pick two girls at least as you are alone and need a bit of interaction. I don't speak much Chinese, but the translator on the phone works a bit and will help. If you are looking for a LT girl, be sure you somehow know what you are getting when you pick, IE:, sit only, ST only, or LT which can be all three. I will sometimes pick one girl just to sit and one for LT. Also be aware that if you pick a LT girl she can still just sit or do a ST with you, or decide not, it is her choice. Mrclen

Fact is that KTV are really everywhere in China. On the other hand if you dn speak the language, even if somebody points you to a place you will not be able to do anything inside, especially in a common area, as language knowledge is needed. The fun in the KTV room is the group fun, drinking, singing, dice play, in a nice environment of nice looking girls. Butnitnmnot an orgy environment, mind you. Depends on girls, you can play with them, grope, kiss. By loosing at dices I got naked once and girls in various states of undressing, my friends did not succumb to the dice playing LOL. But nothing really happening. Girls can (not all) come to your hotel when the party is over, as a sort of dessert. Especially not to leave you with blue balls.
I feel a sauna is more appropriate for a solo night, to be honest. Even a bar like manhattan. But a KTV, alone? Looks strange to me.

Just flirting with the girls, groping them a little in the bar, asking price, drinking a few beers, moving on to the next one. Shopping is the best part. I have also met and spoke to fellow mongers learning a few things.

My personal thoughts on Sauna and BBS is not standing in line to be the next wick dipper. Kind of puts me off, and although I've tried it, taking a girl who just finished fucking who knows what. 10 minutes ago and you are next! I know this works for some of you, but for me, I have never had a good Sauna experience. Routine, mechanical, no passion or enthusiasm, etc. I even think there may be a market for a robotic Sauna operation as as that seems to be what I have had.
At least in a KTV, you may get to know the girls a bit before taking one home for the night. And as an aside, I personally have never had one decline to go LT with me, if fact just opposite has happened, chose one for sit only and she decided she wanted to go with me, being a gentleman, how could I refuse.
I also agree with you that you won't get an orgy experience in a KTV, at least none I have been to. Singing, dancing, kissing, groping, flirting, maybe a few clothes off on rare occasions, is much more the norm. In the KTV's I go to on a semi regular basis, the girls drink what you drink, beer is the normal drink, but you can order whatever you are willing to pay for. Many times (the girls seem to like it) I order the clear 50+ proof Chinese liquor that comes in a clay sealed bottle and it gets mixed with a green tea drink. I have seen some reports on some KTV's in the forum where you are encouraged (required?) to buy the girls "lady drinks", I know for sure that these are ones I will not be going to.
I am an old guy. 70+, not in bad shape or fat, no beard, (also very little on top) , take good care of my personal hygiene, and shave much of the important areas. Many Chinese girls do not like excess body hair, so I try to accommodate a bit to their desires. Also, the girls, at least where I go, will not go with a black man and have concerns about white men. I think mostly it's because they think we are all hung like bulls. Not true in my case and I have resorted on several occasions, to pulling it out or putting their hand in to see how big it is. At least they don't start laughing and still say big but never have a problem after that!
So, in summary, I go often to KTV alone. I almost always have a great time. I get to know the girl a bit before taking her back to my room (no chemistry=don't take her, but you will still have to pay a sit fee). I enjoy the whole evening, not just the bed time. I usually take the girl LT as I enjoy waking up to a sweet young thing next to me and a good morning round. Sometimes if I want to spend extra time with her and I'm not off to a meeting, we'll go to breakfast and maybe make arrangements to meet later or just have her come to my room that night without going to the KTV-this is only if the girl was really good and fun! I usually hook up my laptop to the TV with some porn and see if they want to watch a sexy movie-the ones that do, that really haven't seen them, can get super horny and wild. If they don't want to watch, no problem, we can listen to some music or see a regular movie if they want. I could continue on this subject for a good while but this is enough for now. Oh the question was asked about cost. My normal cost is 300 to 600 RMB for the room depending upon drinks. 100 RMB tip to the room manager or waiter. 3/6/9 to 4/8/12 for the girl. Mrclen

Onething to be noted, and I hope our fellow board member sees it: I believe it is not for a single individual to debute in a KTV (at least, that would be my call) Too many things one doesn't know till he got the experience to enjoy the evening and not making wrong steps that would spoil the entertainment.My call is to go (if ever possible) to a KTV or two, with friends and enjoy the buddy atmosphere.This will give the ropes to venture out alone next time. Lots of unwritten rules, somehow.You pointed out quite some "rules or behaviours" and that is fine indeed as well as extremely helpful.

If he can get a wingman or two, rather than flying alone it would be a great idea. The party atmosphere in the room is really the group and the girls chosen. If the group you are with is a bunch of deadheads, drink too much and get obnoxious and pushy and rude with the girls, the evening fun will quickly deteriorate into a less than good experience. As far as the POV of our friend, I also would like to, just once, get down and dirty in a wild KTV. Don't think it would be my regular thing, but might be fun once. After many, many KTV experiences, it is yet to happen, but I still have hopes! I have been to some rather lame KTV's (in CP) and didn't get into the dice game thing with no real point. I could see it if was some sort of real penalty for the loser, but a sip of a weak drink was pointless.
