Monte Carlo reopened on Friday last week I think. They had been closed for 3 days (Terca / Quarta / Quinta) due to work in the street that required turning off the gas & electric to the building.
Checked in tonight around 8. 30. Quiet in the boate (Monday) with maybe 5-7 guys. Thinned out like my hairline. Zing! Good news is apparently Monday is rock-music night and the stereo was playing rock songs instead of the usual dance / hiphop. They rolled like 6 Pearl Jam "greatest hits" in a row. They also threw on a bunch of GNR including Welcome To The Jungle.
I told the gal I was with (Cintia, my little Hally Berry look-alike) that the song was probably older than her. I guessed it came out in 1988. She said that's when she was born. Making her 23 and me 1 year younger than her mom. Yowza! She kept calling me her "Quarentao" which apparently is "big 40" LOL. Maybe it's my gut.
Fun time had by all in the room. Best part was before Round 2, when I asked her to give little Cartman a kiss and I stood up. She took the pillow herself and put it on the floor. Pavlovian, as BubbaBoy notes. Well done!
First time I'd heard them use the word "tatame" (ta-tam-I) for the room size between the small 40-min rooms and the full suite. Heard it from two different people. Google translates it as "mat" and wikipedia says its a kind of Japanese mat. Anyone know? http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatame
Anyway, R$385 all-in with 1 water for me. 1 Bohemia for her, and 1 hour in the room. Would have been R$370 without the drinks. That's with my "fidelity discount" (free entrada).

Tatami are mats traditionally made from rice straw and are used as floor coverings in Japan. I recall a tatami room in L'uomo, in which I got my first dose of Ingrid. That room has no bed and only a tatami on the floor, effectively making the entire room your "bed". Even though the floor space is the same, the "work bench" is a lot big this way than having the usual twin bed in the room. Ingrid did all kinds of interesting gymnastics with me in that room. Highly recommended.

The only difference is that it is on the floor rather than on a platform. Although there are not a lot of Japanese in Rio, there are groups who come from São Paulo on "business" trips.
A tatami is a Japanese straw mat. They are usually found in the bedrooms in ryokans; you place your futon on top of the tatami and sleep on it. Tatamis are also found in zendos. You place your mat and meditation cushion on top of the tatami, then sit on the cushion and meditate (it's actually more complicated than this, but that's the essence). Shoes and even house slippers must always be removed before stepping on the tatami.

I think you guys are full of good info. But my larger point was that at MC, they were using this word. Tatami. To signify the size / type of room between the 40min room (tiny) and the suite (1hr). Heard the name Black and White a number of times so I finally decided to take the trip up to the bad side of town, which is Zona Norte. If you follow Av Brasil from centro it will pretty much take you directly to the door. The suburb is just before the airport. Now I am sure all of you guys remember how seedy the area is when you come from the airport, favela after favela. Well that is Bonsucesso. The area is very poor, surrounded by favelas and you should be careful while out there.
I arrived by Metro, got off at Maria da Graça and hopped a cab for R$10. It was about 9pm and the surrounding areas we drove through were very dead and very dodgy. When I arrived at the club outside I was impressed. Kind of like an osasis in the middle of very drab buildings, deadly quiet as well. Go inside and pay $R10 upfront, explained that it gets you 2 beers, domestic of course. Grabbed a beer and sat down. The club is nicely appointed, probably nicer than most of the tier 2 termas in centro. There were maybe 30 guys drinking beers and maybe 10 girls. The girls were of the large bunda variety which is very popular with the local Brazilian guys. Doubt this place would see many gringos.
People were smoking freely, which is is now prohibited in all inside establishments and annoying to me, a non smoker! Didn't see any maybe-doable girls, saw a 6, maybe. Also saw 2 x 2's, they were walking arm in arm and could barely walk down the large ailse without their huge butts knocking stuff over. As they left through the door, single file of course, they could just squeeze thru without turning sideways. I sat and finished a couple of beers, quietly enjoying my time out in Zona Norte. Then left on foot.
As I left the club I turned right, I walked along Av Paris about 200 yards and hit Av Brasil. The main road back into town. I watched what was written on the buses to confirm I was on the correct side of the road (the same side of the club) and then jumped a bus and was back in Centro in about 20 minutes.
Really enjoyed finally seeing this club, don't know that you would find really hot women out here but for R$100 for the hour (fixed price) worth a visit if you happen to be out there. Would not go out there alone if you are new to Rio unless you took a taxi to and from the club. Would I go back? Probably not unless I happened to be in the area, just too far and would be too hard to find a decent chic. However worthwhile experience.

I never been in that particular room but figure it must be bigger than that.
Rubber mattresses, tatami room, nossa! Take off the sheet and bring a bucket of soapy water, and teach the Brasileira to do soapy massage like Asian girls! .
As my trip approaches (August 12. 27) and I read more and more of these posts (which are amazing BTW!) I have become more concerned that the fact that I speak ZERO Portuguese will really be an issue at many of the Termas and massage places. I live in NYC so I feel comfortable in new situation and travel quite a bit for work but I am quite used to going to places like these but they are always in English speaking countries.
I know that the main Termas owners and managers speak English from what I read however I am more concerned with negotiating with the girls.
How screwed (no pun intended) am I?

If you stick with the Copa termas you will have no problem, as they are used to dealing with people who speak no Porto. Remember since it's P4P, in most places they are well motivated to understand you and close the deal. You can do charades, draw hieroglyphics, whatever. Improvise and it will work. The girls will fuck anything with a swinging dick and a pulse, so no skills are needed.
There are numerous podcasts on the web, such as [url]http://www.brazilianpodclass.com/blog/[/url] that allow you to hear a transaction taking place. Some guys here like to chat up the girls before sex, but it's not required to get a good session. Some of my best sessions have been preceded by nothing more than a smile and a 'Vamos!' If you're at a terma, then just discretely slip your camera into your robe when you're changing, and keep it there unitl you're in a cabine. If you want to take pics during a session, then make sure the girl is OK with it BEFORE you leave for a room. And NEVER pay extra for photos! If you're having a problem communicating with her about it, just say,"Photos?" and make a motion like you're holding a camera and taking pictures. Lots of guys take pics, so she'll get it. If she's OK with it, she'll let you know. Most of the girls I have been with have been agreeable to posing for photos, but most also request that you not expose their faces. One guy who regularly comes to Rio is so reviled by the termas girls that I have seen them move to the other side of the room when he enters. Also, not everyone receives the oral without treatment.
