As for BKK and PTTY I've been there and done that many times. I spent Songkran in Kon Kaen and liked the pace and cost of living. I had a new 4 star hotel with bkfst and lobby wi-fi for 880 bht. For thrills, I prefer freelance, either street or disco.

With 6 weeks to go, I'd like the input of the board.

I'm going to have a short holiday in June in Udon and I'd like to have some information about the nightlife.What about discos where is possible to have fun and meet good hot ladies? Is Mambo a good place? Do you know a fine and friendly hotel?

Just returned from the LOS and made my second visit to Chiang Rai. I stayed in a new upmarket guest house called the "City Home" situated in an alley just off the square by the night bazaar. Absolutely spotless inside with air con for 400 baht per night and very girl friendly. I was there between the 5th of May and the 11th and though fairly quiet on the Frang front there was plenty of action to be had. I stayed clear of the little private street that has the Lobo Bar and can confirm the information submitted on previous reports that suggests they are rip offs having spoken to a few locals. I picked up at the little bars in and around the night bazaar on two nights and then had some cuties from a couple of bars along the road behind the Wancome Hotel. I spent some time researching Chiang Rai and reading some of the archive reports. There was mention of action along the airport road so I hired my little honda and set off in search of some fun. I wish the old reports had mentioned that the airport road is actually the name of the road and not where it is situated! Well I had an interesting ride to the the airport all the same before the penny dropped. My last report on Chiang Rai provoked some interesting discussions about prices. I still had difficulty getting long time for under 2000 baht even with Farang in short supply and I would welcome any advice from members who are frequent visitors to this place as to where they find cheaper action. Anyway I eventually found the Airport Road which is only five minutes away from the town centre by bike. Didn't see much action though to be fair it was only 5pm. I found one up market shack with three women sat outside who were prepared to come back with me for short time for 1000 baht each. Sadly two of them were pretty ugly and the third who was an 8/10 wouldn't go on her own. Mind you it could have been 3000 baht well spent but I don't think I would have done myself justice anyway having already banged a sweety that morning. I made my way down to BKK after 5 days and spent an interesting few days in Nana Plaza for which I will submit a seperate report in the appropriate section. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Chiag Rai, yes the pace of life is different and the action not as much in your face as it is in other parts of the country but a good time can still be had. I had a little cutie in tow for some of the time but would still recommend the place for mongers who want a more relaxed pace of life

Just want to remind you that, if you come from Malaysia at the Immigration check point, please do not take the service of the "motor" rider from the Malaysia side to go to Kolok. Told of horror stories i.e.

1. Being pestered and "forced" to take a girl (mostly unattractive) from their contact establishment at exorbitant price (2500B)

2. A friend got ripped 1200B for just traditional massage, when he is not interested for a FJ. He was told that by the girl that they paid her only 600B for 2 hours (see how much commision the rider took!). They switched girl, not the one pointed from the OKTs photos. What sad is that the OKT(stories from 1 and 2) is a Malay married to a Thai women and since residing at Kolok. I apologize cos I cannot remember the name of the establishment.

Frankly, the OKTs and some crooked Malaysian moto riders are colluding to prey on lone newbie with a weak heart. They are getting desperate with less tourists in town at the moment.

My advice is as follows:

Walk over to the Thai side and catch a rider over there at the the Thai immigration to go to Kolok. My experience to stay at the Marina Hotel, it is nice and the staff very friendly (585B for a nite). Just next to the hotel there are tons of beautiful (different grades A, B and C). For A grade (very pretty girl) will cost you 2000 - 2500B only.

Just avoid the cunning moto riders which hang around the food stalls on the left side of the road before Malaysian immigration. Also found near the Malaysian tourist information centre (mostly rude when you refuse their services).Even a slightest acknowledgement from you, they will stick to you like leeches. Just "never talk to them".

By the way, Thailand is a woderful place for cheongsters. Be safe all

Being recently trapped in Maha Sarakham I went out looking for girls at about 11 PM on a Saturday. I visited the one nightclub 'downtown' near the bus station and department store, and was charged 180 baht for a beer - the one drink minimum required for entrance. Thai nightclubs are such a ripoff. I had visited one of the other nightclubs in town the previous night, and they were both devoid of freelancers - not surprising considering there are almost no foreigners in town, and no tourists.

I then asked one motorbike taxi driver for a girl. He asked me to wait and went to fetch one. When she turned up a few minutes later she was not doable, so I gave them each 20 baht for their trouble and walked on. I hate asking taxi drivers to be taken to girls, but when in unfamiliar territory there is often no choice.

So I asked another driver, and he took me to a very dark back soi nearby, where three chubby girls and one enormously fat pimp were lurking. I tried to communicate, and was offered a girl all night for 1,500 baht! I said no thanks to this ridiculous price, and was about to leave when a girl offered short time for 500. I said fine and she asked to be paid upfront so I told the taxi driver to leave. The situation seemed creepy to me, there in the dark, and I never pay upfront.

Later as I was trying to direct the driver to my rooms, it materialized that the girl was following us on her motorbike - I had assumed our negotiations were concluded but apparently by following she had assented to being paid after proceedings. We went to a nearby short time hotel - the driver called it the 'holiday inn' - which cost 160 baht. The room was clean, but the aircon barely worked. The walls near the bed were mirrored.

The girl was rather fat but somewhat cute and not too old - about 20-25. She provided very poor service, as is typical in Thailand outside the tourist areas, but fortunately assented redily to bareback. She also would not provide BJ, again a problem found outside the better areas. To her credit she did not complain at the falang length session - it took me perhaps 20-30 minutes of grinding to complete the deed given the lack of excitement due to no BJ, and the low level of attractiveness of the girl. Even this was only accomplished because it had been a week since I my last encounter (in Pattaya). But sometimes even third rate service can be preferrable to one's own hand, if it has been too long.

Afterwards she explained to me that out of the five hundred 100 went to the driver who had brought me, and 200 each to her and her pimp. Presumably a thai might've paid considerably less, and even a better informed falang might've bargained down a bit by avoiding the taxi driver. Anyway my total cost was 500+160+80 baht for the driver: 740 baht.

If anyone wishes to find the girls and pimp I described, they are on a completely unlit soi near the downtown area, which is the area that includes the Sem Thai department store, the Taxila and Vasu hotels, and the bus station. The soi seemed very hard to find and possibly dangerous if on foot. Also no one here speaks any English.

Unsurprisingly, Maha Sarakham seems to be a very poor location for mongering, but I will post more if I discover more. Roi Et is nearby, and is reputed to be a superior locale.

Before you all start on me I have RTFF but it is rather old.Do I need to bring company with me or is it easy to find? Any advice about hotels and female company?
The proposed trip is in November but I will need to make a decision before the end of June 2006 as to whether it is worth making a booking.

Just back from this place after 2 nights.The karaoke joints will be closed tonight for King's Birthday and you may need good connections to get what you want.Otherwise would have stayed for 3 and can buy duty free wine as well.Still it was a good trip entertainment wise.

This prediction was accurate, Freeler, as yesterday I was disappointed by Roi Et. While it is true that there seems to be more available there, none of what was available was appealing.

I visited the second floor of the Mai Tai hotel, a place well know by all in town, where it is said there was once a fishbowl. Now the girls are seated in various portions of a bar-room, and are available for massage and full service at 1,500 baht for 1.5 hours. Needless to say I was unwilling to pay such a price in Isaan (to be fair I wouldn't be willing to pay such a price anywhere in this country but Bangkok). Why is it that such places are no cheaper up in the poor, backward parts of the country? I suppose they are there for the rich Thai men. At any rate a few of the girls were very attractive, but those were taken very quickly by Thais. The old and unattractive remained.

Following this I ventured to a spot recommened by local falang which they called 'Gummy Bears', in reference to the age of the providers. It is an old decrepit hotel two blocks behind the Post Office, which is on the lake. There I discovered that in addition to a couple of aged hags, there were several in their 30's, who ranged from unattractive to barely acceptable. Alas they quoted the price of 500 baht - I had been led to expect 300, and bargained for same. The girls there seemed to have a very bad attitude, and the one I took kept repeating something in Thai that seemed important enough to forstall having sex. I kept saying 'mai cowjai', assuming she would begin some form of charades, as is the usual practice, but she did not. Instead she merely kept repeating the phrase - I don't remember how many times, but finally I just got up and left. There was something creepy about a person who was so dim as to 1) not understand that a foreigner might not understand, and 2) fail to attempt some form of mime to get the point accross.

I proceeded to tell my two farang friends, through the doors of their respective rooms, that I was leaving, and they also decided not to 'go for it', as their girls were even less appealing than mine. I went back later that night to try again, but was treated in a brusque and unfriendly fashion. I suppose I had quickly received the name of a problem customer, which was a shame as there were so few services in the town that even 'Gummy Bears' was worth trying twice.

After this bad experience, I cruised the park next to the lake. I had been told there might be some females there in addition to those which one would prefer to avoid, but I was disappointed. I then proceeded to the entertainment strip ancored by the OhNo disco, where I chatted up a friendly large-bottomed/big legged woman at a smaller bar down the row. She seemed very friendly, and seemed to be a bar-girl, but when I proposed that she accompany me to my hotel she said I must 'pay bar' 2,000 baht! I simply laughed and walked away.

Finally at the hotel - a cheap and shoddy one accross from the Mai Tai - I asked how much for a girl to be sent to my room, and was quoted the price of 1,500 baht. So, I went to bed unrequited, and with money burning a hole in my pocket as they say. Isaan, again, proves bizarrely hard in which to get laid! Obviously others would have had better luck in the same circumstances if they were prepared to spend big money for dubious small-town quality. For those I include the above information, but I cannot recommend Roi Et.

Alright mongers, give a fellow hobbyist the tip on Lopburi, Massage parlours are my favourite type of establishment. I hope someone has some info as the missus won't let me out on a recon mission alone!

On a recent journey northwards I visited a hotel-brothel in Nong Kai. Alas I did not get the name, but it is located just a few blocks from the Pantawee Hotel on a soi perpendicular to the Mekong riverfront, but only one block away from the river soi. Leaving the front door of the Pantawee one would proceed towards the river, and then turn right at the first intersection. The soi in question would then lie to ones left within a few blocks. I apologize for the poor directions but one could simple walk up and down all of these sois without wasting too much time. You won't miss it as the small lobby should contain obvious working girls who will probably call out to you.

At this hotel I was offered several girls, most of whom were very attractive and in their early twenties, for 500 baht. Several of the girls had a definite Vietnamese look, which called to mind the lost wonders of K11. I took one but once in the room was disappointed to find that she would not bareback. I paid and left, but when I was passing later that evening the mamasan came out and told me she had one girl available for that purpose. Of course this turned out to be the the least attractive of her stable - a 30-ish chubby girl - but I went for it. The session was acceptable, though afterwards the girl attempted to suggest that the 500 baht was for mamasan and that I should give her another 500 baht! Needless to say I paid no tip. The room was hot but clean, and the place was quite colorful. Alas, it is frustrating to have very cute 20 year olds available for third rate sex, or third rate girls available for the real thing. Still, for me, the choice was easy.

Later I continued my searches in Udon Thani, where I found a small area of traditional western-oriented beer bars downtown that no doubt everyone knows. The girls here were very attractive, but expensive - bar fine alone was 300 baht. I then sought out, per the recommendation of a local expat, an area of sois filled with brothels. The gent had reported a price of 400 baht all in, but happily upon arrival I was quoted 300 baht, and the girls were nearly all good looking and fairly young.

I took one who looked accomodating but was met with condom insistence in the room. Of course in such circumstances I would pay anyway despite having no sex, but in any case the system at these houses is pre-pay to the papasan, so the point was moot. I moved on unrequited, but soon picked a cute young Lao girl in another house who, once alone in the room, agreed without reluctance to oral and bareback for another 300. Excellent session - including creampie - with a tight-bodied, as yet unmatronly 19 year old for a total of 600 baht. Be warned that these houses are very rough, with fairly hot rooms, and the most rudimentary of bucket showers - in the second house there was in fact no water at all. Also many of the girls will not perform oral sex at all, some will do so only for a tip. Still, these places are better than the bar alternative.

To find these houses you can take a samlor from the Robinsons downtown area. Just tell the driver 'soi sam' or 'soi jet'. There were other brothel sois as well off of Adulyadej(sp?) road. I was given to understand that soi 3 (sam) was the lower end soi, and soi 7 (jet) was the one with better girls, and I was quoted 500 baht at a house on seven, though the girls only seemed marginally better looking. I didn't explore any other sois in between. No doubt the continued existence of such places is precarious in the modern environment of crackdowns, so enjoy while you can.

Barebacking in Udon Thani or Nong Khai brothels is almost like suicide. These girls easily get over 20 customers a day on weekends. Lots of these Thai men secretly take off the raincoats during plays and shoot inside these girls and have absolutely no concern for the girls. The brothel girls also rarely do health checks. I also found out a big percent of them have very obvious genital warts. Be extra careful with these young Lao girls in these brothels. I would think the STD or even HIV infection rates in these brothels are much much higher than regular massage parlours. Barebacking is a very bad idea in these brothels.
