In this report, I will abbreviate Canadian Dollars as CAD and US Dollars as USD. And for exchange purposes, 1 USD is about 1.30 CAD.

1) Hotel: I was lodged at Executive Hotel LE Soleil:

This hotel is right in the downtown area, with restaurants, bars, public transportation (SkyTrain and bus options), and currency exchange (Vancouver Bullion and Currency Exchange) all easy walks from the hotel. I'm not sure if the hotel is "chica friendly" for outcall purposes. But I can say that the elevators are right in front of the reception desk, and if you want to use them on the ground floor, you must first insert your room key card before selecting your floor number on the elevator keypad.

2) Phone: I purchased a SIM card and a pre-paid plan for my unlocked smartphone through Bell:

I selected the 22 CAD Prepaid 100 Minutes plan at a Bell store in downtown Vancouver. The SIM card was an additional 10 CAD, and since I wanted to make sure I could call home during my several days in Vancouver, I put credit on the plan, so with taxes, my total cost was about 67 CAD.

3) Pharmacy: I stopped by Shoppers Drug Mart to see what they were charging for generic Viagra (sildenafil). 4 50 milligram tablets of generic Viagra was 50 CAD, and 4 tablets of 100 milligram generic Viagra was 52 CAD. A prescription is necessary to make a purchase.

4) Mongering: For my mongering activities, I used LeoList:

One of the great things about LeoList is that you can chat with potential providers (once you sign-up with LeoList) through the site's online chat function. But don't bother e-mailing the WGs using the e-mail address provided on their personal LeoList page. I e-mailed probably half a dozen potential providers before I arrived in Vancouver and didn't get a response from a single one of them.

5) Session #1 (Friday): For my first session in Vancouver, I chose Inna:

The reason why you see pictures in the Directory is because those WGs are serious about meeting clients, as opposed to the countless ads that don't have pictures that might very well be bait and switch.

It is a 2012 article (like this one) detailing the famous case that would have made all prostitution decriminalized in Canada instead of only outcall being legal (prior to the court decision). The effective date of the court decision was delayed one year so that the legislature could choose to draft new laws if it chose to do so.

The legislature did in fact draft new laws, known legally as "see-36" and known informally for a short period of time as the Cyclone of Shit, which made it legal for someone to sell sex, but illegal to purchase it and illegal for most parties (brothel owners And escort service owners) to assist a person in the selling of sex or advertising. Fortunately, soon after the passage of this new law, the police departments of the three largest cities (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver), which are surprisingly independent of the courts or the legislature, announced a prioritization program whereby they acknowledged the existence of the new law but would focus on arresting parties involved with underage prostitution, trafficked persons, and community nuisances (street prostitution and known brothels).

As a result, the escort scene remains largely unchanged and neither the court case you cited or the new law has any real effect. The advertising has been tamed down, and the location of incalls are not published online. The review boards re-registered in the Netherlands and a person must join to read the reviews. Life didn't change for most of us.

Had the court case decision gone into effect and had the legislature not acted, no one knows what the Canada scene would be like. Some would argue that it would have become more like Germany with "legal" megabrothels. That would probably have required the Canadian government to allow ladies to arrive from Cuba and Venezuela, though.

I am not convinced that the court case decision was a good thing. But it has limited relevancy now.
