I have slept with as many light skin chicas as well as dark skin chicas and they all only see green. "Elevate themselves with being with a white guy". Let me give it to you straight. There are, of course, some places it's best to stay away from, but I imagine that's true of where you live also. If you stick to the tourist areas, your biggest concern will probably be pickpockets, and most of them women at that. Take the necessary precautions.

If by "morena clara" you mean a coffee 'n cream or caramel complexion (very nice, by the way), you can find many.

The color that matters the most to every one down there is the dollars/euros/pesos you have in your pockets no matter what color you are. Now lets get back to talking about mongering.

Good tip NWO! THis same exact thing happened to me on a trip to Venezuela. Citibank is notorious for doing this. They cancel your credit card "For your protection!"

As if stranding you in a foreign country with no funds is a personal favor to you! Good advice!

Notify them where you'll be to avoid headaches.

The only bad thing I have to say about latin countries is that there is obvious discrimination between darker and lighter shades.Not everyone goes down that road but it's there. I wont go into any further detail but those who travel to alot of latin countries will understand.
Most important "I dont like it" I'm just aware of it.I still think if your light skinned going for dark women in the DR your ahead of the game just like I cant get any sloppy german snatch when I'm in jamaica.

I agree with you. Color of skin does not matter. The only color that matters is the color of our money (Pesos, Yen, Dollars, etc.).

Our looks also do not matter.

Yeah guys, before you depart for your destination, make sure you call your credit card company and inform them that you will be using it.

As for your debit card (if you plan to make withdrawals from an ATM machine), make sure what fees will apply. Every bank has different fees.

Really? If you felt discriminated, then I am sorry to hear about that.

I'm Asian. I have only been to the DR and I never felt any type of discrimination. I just wish they charged me less. lol

Leave your credit cards home! From the US take a bundle of 1 dollar bills, you always need ones. If you do not like cash bring traveler checks. There is various credit card scams and you never know.

With probably 20 trips to the DR I can think of no scenario where a pocket full of one dollar bills would come in handy, quite the opposite actually, If you need to use credit card there just take one and call the credit card company ahead of time. Generally I just carry cash and an ATM card as most hotels have safes or lockboxes in room. Change dollars to pesos as you need them.

I am sorry if your method of cash disposal is different than mine. Dollar bills come in handy for everything from beer to motos. The US dollar is also nice to distribute.

Something else, motoconchos you pay them as well in dollars? So at the end of the day they have to make a trip to casa de cambios to cash in what is probaly the only one dollar bill they recieved that day. My personal preference is to just but pesos as i need them and pay with pesos, it is much more easifor to me as well as the vendors who pay their bills in pesos.

The problem arises when it is time to pay for your bill at a bar or for the moto. 1 USD = 34.20 pesos right now. If you are counting your pesos while visiting D.R., just know that a ride on a moto is 20 pesos. Some might say... "What is another 14 pesos?" ... well, if you use them 3 times a day for 7 days or any length of time, it can take away from your cash on hand. Also, bars and other places don't always convert your dollars in your favor. They may just very well give you 32 or 33 pesos to the dollar when the rate is actually at 34.

Just wanted to shed some more light on the subject.

I'm a big fan of bringing small change like $ bills and 5's to countries like the DR.You dont use them for everything but then you dont have to go through the no change scenario.Ones and fives are priceless just be firm with your exchange rate and dont let people nickel and dime you.If they dont like it walk away.Most banks and exchange places have current conversion rates posted outside their establishment...look to the banks more so than the exchange shops.
I also bring my pfp budget in twenties.I find using $'s with chicas to be more lucrative since they might be able to get a better rate for them with their own people when buying stuff.
BEWARE of credit card scams in the DR.One guy I met got shafted by a BANK in sosua...they stole his number from the machine he used to withdraw cash.Travelers checks and a little cash are the best ideas I think.
I just bought a travel safe online for $35 which I will lock in a suitcase then chain that to something.It's not full proof but it does get rid of petty thiefs.If they really wanted to get in they could but with alot of effort and destruction which would cause too much attention.Do a google search for travel safes many websites offer them.Pm me if you want more info.Happy smutting.

I've always used credit cards in the DR and never had a problem - having said this, you should always have your credit cards insurance up to date before you use them abroad, just in case.
