Despite this, I decided to help out and post directions a few days ago. I even said what exit to take when leaving Huai Kwang MRT. It's amazing to see this new post giving new inaccurate directions. The "handy map" has its scales all wrong. It makes Nataree look halfway between the 2 MRT stops, but that's actually not true.

It's a 20 minute walk from Thailand Cultural Center, but only a 2 minute walk from Huai Kwang station. It's not on the east side of the street. It's on the west side. Are you intentionally trying to keep the OP from reaching this place? Suits me fine since I don't think very highly of Nataree.

I saw very often itineraries totally misleading. I understand Thai people, as Thais are not very familiar with the maps (in fact you do not see in Bangkok road signs with street maps that indicate the various options to the traveler), but a farang! The only good public maps visible in Bangkok, are in the underground stations, but no one reads them.

1) Planning to be in Bangkok in the first week of Dec 2012. My first visit to Thailand. Can someone please suggest a clean, girl friendly hotel? I suppose sukhumvit area would be great.

2) Recommend budget oil massage parlours. I have decided only stick to MPs, no go-go or street hookers.

I plan to be only in Bangkok this time, for MP mongering and little garment and / or electronic shopping. Next visit BKK + Pattaya.

I suggest either the Grand President or the President Palace on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Nice rooms. Good value. Absolutely guest friendly. Super convenient location. Close to Nana sky train. Close to Nana plaza. Short walk to Soi Cowboy. Lots of massage parlors within a 5-10 minute walk.

The soapies in question are on the west side of Ratchadaphisek Road. At Huay Khwang you can surface of either side but you are right its the Emerald Hotel side. The East side is not recommended. Bangkok roads like Sukhumwit for example, do have overhead large mini-maps with green, yellow, and red lit-up roads, to show which routes have the worst traffic congestion. Yes Bangkok is not noted for Maps. Carry your own, preferably on your phone with GPS.

Its true that many Bangkok taxi drivers cannot read maps, so if they don't know the place you want to go to, they will just give up.

When I tell them the corner of two roads intersection, they love to ask which Hotel? I then explain I am not not going to a Hotel. So where am I wanting to go? To the intersection. Often they give up because they don't even know the road names. Then I have to say. Its okay I can direct the way through the back Soi short-cuts. I usually know the way and I have GPS on the phone just in case.

Its mostly a good idea to know where you are going and roughly how to get there, in case the taxi wants to take you for a ride (long ride). The fastest way of course is not always the shortest.
