I can't speak for Genesis Bar, but I know for a fact that some bars on Fields have raised their barfines/EWRs from 1500 pesos to 1800, starting from this month. Also, some bars with 1200 peso barfines have increased to 1400. Everything seems to be going up in price here, barfines, hotels, food. Combine that with the PHP now at almost 43 to 1 USD and this dusty little brothel-town is not that good of a deal anymore.

As far as this discussion on tipping goes, let me just say that overtippers/big spenders are slowly ruining this place. I was at Atlantis this past Friday, there was a hula hoop contest going on. I called down one of the "spotlight" dancers named Riza, 20 years old, #A266. I wanted to talk to her; she looks just like one of my co-workers from Korea. So, right away she goes for the Double lady drink, and I tell the waitress I'm not Korean and I don't buy doubles, please bring her a rum and coke. Then she gets all huffy and says "no money, no honey". WTF! These girls should be happy guys buy them ANY drinks, single or double. We start talking and she keeps asking me to buy her things: "buy me a teddy bear, na!"-"throw ping pong balls, na!" The whole time I'm sitting there thinking "shoot me in the head, na!" Finally, I ask about barfines, she says she's a spotlight so her barfine is 3,000 pesos. How this girl, who looks ok but is no stunner at all, is worth a 3,000 peso barfine I still don't understand. She finishes her tiny drink and says she has to go to the CR. Five minutes later she's back on stage dancing, which was ok with me; I was actually glad she was gone.

But the point is, the whole time this "princess" was sitting there with me, guys were throwing money, chocolates, popping those noisemakers, throwing ping pong balls, hell, one guy didn't even throw the money, he just walked up to the stage, handed a girl a wad of 100 peso bills, and then scampered back to his seat; he didn't even say anything to her. This is why that cutie you want to barfine won't go with you; it's not because she's on "mens". It's because she can just sit in the bar and make her money off double lady drinks and guys throwing money at her. She doesn't have to fuck for money. And I can't say I blame the girls for this kind of behavior. Hell, if I went to work and some moron was literally thowing money at me while I sat at my desk, I wouldn't do my job, either. I'd just sit there and pick up the bills off the floor.

One time I received the soup after already been done with the main course. The waiter arrived with a smile. I smiled back and keep saying something in German to him, then I returned the soup and told him in English, keep it for yourself, thanks :D

This reminds me of my own experience. Went to forbidden city on my last night (Tuesday a week ago). It's 2 am, and it's time for me to wrap things up. A number of cuties dancing on stage, but none of them would make eye contact. But I figure I will call 1 last girl down. Had to use the laser to point out the girl. She came down and holy crap... She was colder than the san Miguel light they served me. Hardly a smile, speaks only when spoken to, minimal touching , etc. After a few minutes of this, I gave up. Didn't say goodbye to her, didn't look her way, just turned around, got up and left.

Contrast this with the perimeter bar girls, some who will stradle you, grind you, kiss you and let you feel them up. All for the cost of a ladies drink, and cheaper there too at around 100-110 pesos.

It was my first trip to AC. For my next trip I will still go into the big showbars but I will go there to watch the shows and spend the minimum amount possible.

On another occassion I also saw one German in Makati( to hell with him) who hands out 3k PHP as xmas tip to one of the dancers there. My other friend wanted to f..ck her. She told him 5k in a short time room in the bar. Yeah right, One pop for 5K, but cant blame her if an idiot gives her 3k for doing nothing. That was a few years back.
Usually if the girl doesnt like you, she will ask for drinks and drinks and toy stuff or she just wanted to make money. I was told by a dancer that the mamasans regularly 'teach' them these techniques, namely: "when invited then always try to order the expensive drinks and introduce your best friend as well (of course the next waitress comes immediately and makes sure that she gets her drink too)!" For the girls/ bar it's a perfect deal, for us customers it can become quickly expensive, because 2*300 pesos = 600 pesos = almost half the price for a barfine! :)

AC Knight, I agree with you AC lady quality and service far below southern China and Macau in my opinion also. There is no way to compare AC to Macau. The ladies, quality of service Macau is first class, if any of the girls pull some of the tricks the girls in AC do they would not be back to work anywhere including the street. Macau is about service and the way prices are going up Macau is a better bet. The ladies in AC have no clue what service is about when comparing to Macau. Looking a Manila I would say that Macau is less expensive and certainly much better. Also there are Phil girls there if that is to your liking.

At first I naively thought it might be because I'm young (in my 30's) but then two minutes later, a waitress would appear and ask whether I'd like to buy a drink for each of the girls.

I turned it around though and had a bit of fun with it. In the instance above, when the girls told me jokes, I put a 100 pesos on the table when I got up to leave and said "this is for all of you because you all really made me smile". My experience of Filipino gogo girls is that while they chase money (and who can blame them?) they appreciate smaller gestures as well.
