I don't think it is any of those other things, or at least not in any significant way.

In 2015 or 16 there were getting to be a number of incidents of gringos being drugged, but especially in the last few years the numbers have increased. The deaths from scope and other drugs used to rob victims are the "mistakes", but for every death there are probably hundreds that were drugged and did not die, but in many cases were robbed, etc. Anyway, I think it is more just a specific part of the crime scene that has increased, and that involves gringos, so it certainly gets attention in monger circles.

As for other cities, Bogota is equal as far as drugging etc. I think, but it is not followed as much by mongers.

I've visited every major city in Mexico, and there seems to be an unspoken agreement among cartels not to target foreign tourists or expats, at least in the larger cities. It's mostly petty crimes that are common, any high-profile incident like drugged and killed involving them are very rare, and typically brings a forceful response unless of course it involves someone gets in their way or mistaken identities.

TTM.[/QUOTE]Couldn't agree more, Tall Man, unfortunately. Another big factor is the ability for Paisas to go to EU, Mexico, etc. much easier than years past. A 9 gets a million so her six friends that are 7s think that price sounds good to them. It's a cancer of predatory egotistical business sense. A 7 gets a free trip to get S on in Dubai, so now all her friends that are 6s think you should take them to Mamba Negra on a first date and take 35 photos of them until they like one, and the 2nd date should be San Andres or Tulum. I think the Golden Age is over. Passport Bros are undefeated. I don't find myself in the tourist hot spots too frequently, but when I do, I am shocked at how little respect some gringos have for local culture and just a standard level of manners or behavior. The same old stories are so tired. If only these guys knew what it used to be like. Prices are not what they once were, and the valley is flooded with foreigners. I'm very seriously considering making a change and leaving Medellin to the backpackers, weekend ballers, and creeps. It breaks my heart but I'm fortunate to be able to make a difficult decision like this that I feel will make me happier in this short window of life we have. I feel like a human ATM these days. I can't imagine not being able to speak Spanish, here. I had been considering moving outside the city or to somewhere like Pereira, but I think I'd be bored at this point in my life. We'll see, but I think I might be one foot out the door.

In the meantime I maintain about 4 or 5 in my rotation of mostly Paisas who are demure, fresh, great attitudes, reasonable priced, good hearts and souls, can hold a conversation about life and family, incredible lovemaking in the bedroom so perhaps not only has time changed but I have also.

TTM.[/QUOTE]Since the covid time, there has been a flux of gringos to Medellin. Now there are some seedy / obnoxious gringos hanging around the Botero / Veracruz area. They act like a hot shot, but I'm not sure if anybody deals with them in their home countries.

But it's not just tourists who show a lack of respect. This morning, I was walking down the sidewalk and a local man came out of a shop and walked across the sidewalk. If I had not hesitated and weaved, we would have collided. He didn't show any signs of acknowledging his poor manners. And if two locals are walking side-by-side on a sidewalk, many times they will not make room for someone walking in the opposite direction.

The prices of almost everything are going up. I've noticed Exito doesn't even try to keep the prices displayed on the shelves current, or they don't show any prices. I don't think the tourists are responsible for the supermarkets' price increases. When I first came to Medellin 15 years ago, the gringo I rented a room from told me not to pay the ladies more than 100 mil. I think the exchange rate at that time was less than 2,000/1, COP/$. It is now just over 4,000/1. I can get more attractive young ladies than I can handle now for 250 mil. I acknowledge the price has gone up faster since Covid than before, but the increase over a long period of time is not that bad.

I have seen this played out with dozens of Paisas who I saw and enjoyed when they were just starting out even before thinking about the P4 P and were young, fresh and the proverbial next door girl then fast forward 5 years and I see them in Barcelona or Paris or Dubai.

I could write a book of what I have seen, experienced and observed not only myself but a few European and North American men who have come here for a few weeks to a number of years.

Another member mentioned that Colombia takes the TOP #1 spot for webcams in the world so chances are that the majority of the paisas have resorted to this to get some pay and hordes of attention as OF.

Dear Fellow-Mongers.

Taking the risk of being accused of depressing the mood in this forum, I really need to ask, wether you guys think, that the Casas are save from Scopo-attacks.

I read a lot about it in this forum and how serious this has to be taken. There is also an episode on the Youtube Channel 'Life with David' - the episode's called 'The Dangers of Dating in Colombia'. At the end he hints, that if your coming to MDE only for sex with Paisas (which is my main intention), there are save places for it. I mean it's Youtube and I guess he can't be more specific on this in his channel BUT I had the feeling he is referring to Casas.

Now I would very much like you. Who have actual experience with Casas. To kindly let me know, if you feel, you are safe there and that Scopo-Attacks are highly unlikely there.

I figure that such an attack would make much more sense being in the hotel room / AirBnB of a victim tourist than in a brothel. But I am unexperienced on this turf and my next journey would be the first I undertake to South America.

The same question would apply to motels (like Ibiza West). So if I find a nice Paisa on a site like Prepagos and arrange an outcall to Ibiza West (not the place where I stay and my belongings are), would that be save or has anybody heard of American / European tourists being Scopo-attacked there?

Reports on this matter, which I read lately, really make me wondering, if it were better to go to Havanna instead. I guess it is more difficult there to make (pre-) arrangement with Girls (no Escort-Websites, etc.) but I feel the general safety situation is better. On the other hand Paisas are the prettiest ladies in the world. : the.

You guys see how conflicted I am, perhaps one of you can help me out and eliminate my doubts.

Only time I see gringos are at the airport or if I find myself in Poblado or Laureles areas. I still get cute girls in the 150-200 mil range that stays for 2+ hours and allows BBFS and these aren't the Parque Lleras chicas. I get them before they level up or start to realize they can get more from other non experienced gringos. By that time, I move on because the hunt is worth the end results. I ain't going nowhere, but yes MDE ain't what it used to be. Nothing rarely is. I just bought a million pesos worth of tussi (good price for 50 puntos) and going to party like a rockstar for the next month hehe.

I don't travel around the World to hang out or seek out foreigners. Medellin has become a past time for me as I am exploring other areas of Colombia. I am sure that I will return to Medellin but it definitely not a priority. Whenever I see Gringos most of them are usually loud, drunk, high, ungrateful, complain a lot, brag and boast how they are better, self exultation, arrogant, self centered and self absorbed, definitely don't give a damn about the culture and traditions, could care less about the country, etc, etc and the list goes on. I just touched on a few points. Most stay in that Bubble called Poblado and Parque Lleras.

As for myself, I enjoy exploring, seeing and doing different things. I don't mind being among the locals, eating local food and drinks, listening to local music, learning the culture, making friends with people and families, helping out when I can see a genuine need. To all the Gringos, please stay where you are and don't explore anything or anywhere. You're doing good right there!

I'm a long time lurker (about 20 yrs on and off). Monger experience in Tijuana, Pattaya, FKKs, Canada and Japan- Tobita Shinichi.

Should I even bother with MDE at this point? Or spend more time at Wellcum and Sharks here in Europe? I'm on a grand mongering tour.
