Thanks for all advices. Normaly there's no problem for me when im out by my self, either it's home or in a foreign country. But, im allergic to scams and scam-people and I have a habit to never shut my mouth up when I maybe just should do and just walk away. But the trick is to avoid these situations who will end up in trouble as you say. Actually I will say that im good to pick up the signals from my surroundings and do a quick analysis and know what to do and not to do and use common sense.

I knew that the departure area trick was an old one and in more recent times got sort of stopped by police etc.
Nevertheless I did it approx 1 week after the demonstrations back in april. I was curiout to see if ti worked, ready to step back and use the normal way. Worked out fine, nobody refrained me from doing it, and I did not do it hiding it.
Thre are indeed some sort of barriers on the drive, so that taxi cannot stand there and wait for customers, that's clear.
It is a drop off point.
Taxi driver was keen to bring me on board having just dropped a customer.
True that even on the upper floor there are taxi touts offering you any sort of deal, destination (did not try to see wheteher they sell sisters and mothers too.. LOL)

After a while unfriendly waitress came back, with a bowl of salad, with onion and tomato and the dish with marinated beef and potato salad. I said no, the green salad should be without onion and tomato and the main dish with noodles and not with potato salad.

Now they were serious angry, but brought the dish and salad back, but yelled with other waitrer and Thai bar girls, about the stupid Farang. rofl.

After a long while they came back with a dish of marinated beef and noodle which was right and a bowl of green salad, but with tomatos.

So, I just took the tomatos out of the salad and eat the staff.

They told me better do not come anymore here. I can scare of clients. I said. Lady not good not me. Mai pen rai you better go. You speak bad! Did not understand this attitude.

He kept saying he would pay the tolls, so it would "only" cost me 500 baht.

I know that was a rip off and insisted her turn the meter on, but I could not een find it in the car.

Finally, when I wrote his name down on the paper they had given me at the airport, he moved a small towell that he had placed on the console over the meter to hide it. It had been on all along, but he didn't want me to see it.

When we arrived at my hotel the charge, including 70 for tolls, came to 281 baht. I demanded full change, right to the exact baht.

I told him that he cost himself a 100 baht tip by trying to rip me off, and maybe he should treat the next guy better.

The other thing you need to watch is the meter might have been running prior to you getting into the cab. This will probably happen more in town, if you happen to get into a cab, just as the previous passenger exits. Make sure the meter gets turned on as you enter.

Just another "double dipping" little scam. Not indigenous to Thailand though.

My two cents from one is a business/tourist/monger traveling to LOS for short (3. 10 days at a time.) 4 or 5 time a year for the last three years: I have haggled or otherwise tried the different means to get from airport to Sukhumvit (where I normally stay.). And remember this is just my take on it. The difference between taking the "green/yellow/ "o-fficial" taxis from the "o-fficial" departure cab stand and haggling is at most 3-4 USD! After a long flight, I readily pay the 400THB (vs. The 280 or whatever.) just to make it a hassle free experience. Never am asked to pay tolls or tip or any other BS. Again, not a judgement on what others do, but in the overall scope of things, not a big deal.

Especially when you been on a long flight som more baths aint a big deal in this perspective. But its fun or how to say when some companys tries to act like the scamfree ones and BS-talk the metertaxis outside, hanging up signs and things. Then I have the energy to make a deliberately choise just for the principle regardless of how tierd im after a flight.

Why worry what anybody else thinks? You were happy, the woman was very happy. Haggling over a few baht would have created a different dynamic.

Sad fact is the problem is created by tourists.

Far too many overpay.

So.

Never overpay.

If she fails to perform or tries to get out of doing LT by leaving after ST then reduce her money down. But not only do this, ensure you tell Mamasan in the bar on your next visit that number "xxx" is no good.

If the Mamasan tries to protect the girl and say its all your fault, then please post the story on ISG and others and let people know that that bar is not "customer friendly".

Regulation, complaints and the bad press is the only way to ensure bars ensure their girls perform, by ensuring the girls they employ leave lots of happy customers and not lots of unhappy ones.

It's true that you might have gotten a better LT price with a little haggling, and her price was a bit higher than I have spent for LT, but she also spent all day with you, not just the night. Haggling sometimes puts a damper on the evening. OTOH, too high an asking price puts me off to the lady, too, because it often says something about her attitude that becomes more obvious later.

The claim that paying too high a price to one lady will suddenly cause all the others to raise their prices seems plain silly to me. I am paying pretty much the same prices for lady and BF that I have for five years, at least in Baht. So no need to apologize for a price you both found agreeable.

As for the shower alone? Some girls are shy about washing their privates, and cleanliness seems paramount to many Thai ladies. Even when a lady showers with me, some want me to finish and leave first. But I also feel awkward if she won't shower with me at least a little while - it's part of the fun I think I'm paying for.

Right I wrote it. The owner died 16th of July and the funeral was 23rd of July. Though the waitress wasn't blue or down, she just were full of anger. Maybe she did some mistakes before and was criticized. I don't know, I just think that she was too proud or stubburn, because she thinks Foreigner whose come to Thailand should speak Thai and not Thai people in the Tourism industrie speak English.

Told I had ordered, when I exactly explained her what I want, several times and also I told a colleague of her, because I had the impression she didn't understand. She was just too proud to ask if she hasn't understand.
I often have that problem with Taxi driver, when I tell them were I want to go. They say Ok, I enter and realize they don't know the way, or where I want to go. But, then it's not stubborness, but they just want make the business and think they will find it somehow. Often I can tell them the way, like yesterday when I want to go to spicy and the taxi driver tried to bring me to Spice Club.

Anyway: I think Beergarden is not more on my list, because the staff is maybe to long in the business and become a bit too cheeky. You can see it in many places, when a disco, club, restaurant is newly opend and the staff is fresh, they behave respectful and even obedient. If they are too long in the business, some become spoiled (maybe through huge tips) and arrogant.
Though this special waitress, a chubby middle aged one, I didn't saw in previous visit.
I enjoyed the food in Beergarden, but for me it wasn't the best Freelancer spot anyway. I took the last 3 visits in Thailand no girl from there. They were just not pretty and mostly the ugly ones were coming over and tried to start the usual "where do you come from", "whats your name", "are you tourist or do you have business in Thailand" kind of chat up line.

Where yesterday in Angel Disco at 11:15 pm. I just were curious if on the last night the club was full. I didn't went there for a drink, since I don't wanted take advantage of the misfortune of that club. I were there often a few years ago, but the last years not and so I thought it wouldn't be right to go there and suck some drinks out of them.
Well, the place were full, many farangs but also girls. Saw some pretty ones as well. No, entrance fee, the girl at the entrance told me the drinks would be free and even in the toilett, no toilett slave aeh, toilett guy who tried to get a tip out of you.
So, it was real free love, no strings attached. ;-)
Well, I guess the club would still rock if they wouldn't had a entrance fee before and if the drinks would be around the 100 Baht range. I think that would be the way to success for that place.
I felt pitty for the place, because it would be the perfect FL spot in the time range from 10 pm - 2 am.
So, I hope there will be a new disco in that place and with a better concept. All, the best to the previous owner of Angel Disco.

The girls behind the bar do get grumpy some times, they complain to me more and more about cheap charlie farang leaving and not paying the bill.

When they do this the girls have to pay.

So quite possible that someone had just done this to her and so she was in a bad mood.

Its not right, and its wrong of her to take it out on another customer, this is bad service, but there may be reasons behind the bad behaviour.
