What's your point Hutsori? I was thinking more like "naive K farmers" getting snuckered.

Flew from Butuan to Cebu. Scheduled flight time: 40 minutes. Actual time from nose-up to wheels-down: 22 minutes."Ladies and gentleman this is your captain speaking. We are cruising at 40, 000 feet, and begining our descent into Cebu." Can a plane climb from sea level to 40k, then land, in 22 minutes? Of course, if its piloted by James T. Kirk.
Flew from Cebu to Manila. Scheduled flight time: 75 minutes. Actual flight time from nose-up to wheels-down: 41 minutes (12:50. 1:31pm). Include in that a mid-field crossing directly above the manila airport at about 5000' (the old Cavite airfield clearly in view) , a turn out towards the sea for about 6 minutes, and a 180 to get back to the airport. This flight could easily have been shortened to 25-30 minutes. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
To keep their on time arrival stats.
This flight could easily have been shortened to 25-30 minutes. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
So that they can reach the 69. 7% On Time Performance (as recorded for May, according to their website)?
Four or so out of my last five Cebu Pathetic flights have been plagued by 1-5 hour delays ("due to late arrival of inbound aircraft") and bad jollibee chicken with rice. Most of those flights were in the month of May so my personal OTP is around 20 %.
Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
To pad the on time arrival statistics and make the airline appear to be performing better.
Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
I always took the timing from gate push to gate arrival?
Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
WC,
All airlines do this from the most well known to the least popular. I fly around 40-45 weeks of the year and no carrier has ever given me a correct schedule. I know on some carriers that if the plane leaves an hour late I could end up arriving 5-10 minutes late at most and sometime before the scheduled arrival time.
In the Philippines the issue I am told is Manila airspace and the rubbish equipment ATCs have to use (a worry if true). The airspace is too crowded, there are not enough runways and coupled with the inefficiency of many airports and staff adds to the mess.
But then it is fun in the Philippines as you and clearly show in the PG LOL.
To pad the on time arrival statistics and make the airline appear to be performing better.
Yes Cebu Pathetic are great at the chest / breast thumping that their planes arrive ahead of schedule, but seldom offer an apology for a delayed flight.
On boarding one Cebu to Cagayan de Oro flight the air hostess said "Our flight tile will be 35 minutes". On landing she said with some pride "Welcome to Cagayan de Oro. We have arrived 35 minutes ahead of schedule". As I left the plane I asked that hostess "how can we on a 35 minute flight arrive 35 minutes ahead of schedule?". It might have been my slang English but "Huhhhh?" was the response. The secret was CP loaded up and left early.
With such great performance CP, like beam me up Scotty, may soon be able to get us to our destination before we depart? Fat chance.
. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?
If you fly often enough around the Phils you get to know how long all these trips take.
No flight is more than 1 hour 50 mins from Manila (Zamboanga, Gensan, Davao) are the max distances. Manila to Cebu is always 55 to 65 mins. Most shorter hops are around 30 mins but you have to add in the interminable delays in departing and arriving.
BTW. Don't think this is a Philippines problem. My last trip to Australia I was plagued by delayed flights and especially the circling around and around waiting for a space to land in both Sydney and Melbourne.
No use complaining. It is what it is. Airline travel sucks all over the world.

The flight was originally scheduled for 12:05pm departure. Then announced a late arrival from Manila, would be a 12:50 departure. Nothing unusual. But the plane arrived on time, then deplaned the Manila passengers. They just took a long time cleaning / servicing the aircraft. We boarded a about 12:10 and by 12:30 the doors were closed and we were pushing back. Got to the holding area just at the cusp of the runway, next in line by 12:40 and sat. The captain said over the PA: "We are next in line for takeoff. Due to sequencing arrivals in Manila we cannot take off until 12:50. We can make up some late time during the flight. Relax and thanks be to God." [Love that religious cultural thing shining thru] At 12:44 we took the runway for position / hold, and sure enough we sat there for 6 minutes, owning the runway (there's only one runway. 4/22, only one aircraft on the runway at a time) at the busiest time of the day, and at 12:50 the engines wound up and we were off.
So that they can reach the 69. 7% On Time Performance (as recorded for May, according to their website)?
So they game the system by padding the times and get themselves a... D+/C- ?!?
That's a nifty trick.
