Looking for a recommendation for something fairly quick that won't break the bank
I'm going to be in Barcelona for about a day, and was hoping to find some recommendations for a brothel or AMP that I can drop by for 45 minutes to an hour that won't break the bank (under 150). I have read that Barcelona can be a bit dodgy when it comes to this, so I figured this would be the best place to ask. Thanks!
Club Calipso revisited (8 years later)
Club Calipso is located near Cabrera del Mar / Mataro around around 25 mnts by car east of Barcelona. The club is also reachable by train or bus (note: I have not checked nighttime options). Same owners as the 5- 6 Haima clubs in central Barcelona? But Club Calipso is larger than any of the central Haima clubs.
My visit was early week, thus my expectations were pretty low. However, the lineup on an off day seemed to match Club Privee's weekend lineup (see my recent report in the Tarragona thread), and while it's not my intention to hype up Club Calipso, the lineup felt slightly better than my visit 8 years ago. This is a club that works if you come for the right reasons (ok lineup, budgetfriendly pricing), but it also has some obvious weaknesses (read further).
Popular thinking is that Spanish night clubs / bars do not get going before midnight. Based on my recent visits to Club Privee and Club Calipso I will say that you will benefit with an early arrival, say 10 pm or even 8 pm. Most girls will be present and fresh, while the bar will be more crowded with locals around midnight with best girls quickly taken. Opening hours are from 5 pm to 5 am, but some girls may stay later on some days (say 7 am).
Both bar and rooms seemed well maintained (no obvious wear and tear). Free entry (note: My visit was on a Monday or Tuesday, and weekend nights may be different). Drinks were 10- 15 euro.
Lady drinks: 30 E? Or 50? I got different answers from the bartenders. It was confusing. But perhaps different pricing in the bar, but more expensive if girls ask for drinks in the room? Thus I did not partake. No worries, I did not experience any hardsells of lady drinks; contrary to my awful experience at Scandalo (Malaga) a year ago.
I paid with cash. There are warnings in the local forums about high fees if using credit cards (a 10% surcharge is added to the bill, I think).
[B]Selection[/B]:
Around 10- 20 girls at any time in the bar (the bar said 20 girls). I was told this would increase to perhaps 30 girls on the weekends. A mix of latinas (Venezuela / Colombia 50/50) and other girls (mostly Romanians, but also an older local girl). The girls were in general younger than what I found at Club Privee (age group 20- 35), in particular the girls from Venezuela. Several goodlooking and cute. Majority of girls in good shape.
[B]Pricing[/B]:
Session fee: I think 80 E /30 and 140 E /60. I was lucky and took advantage of early arrival promotion, which was 75 E /30 and 105 E /60 before 10 pm. This was the most favourable price I got on this Barcelona trip.
Room fee: I was not asked to pay any room fee.
Entrance fee: None (early arrival early weekday).

I did not experience anything on this night. This may be luck. Upselling can happen according to the local forum.
[B]Service standards[/B]:
There is no standard. Services offered varied from girl to girl. Everything must be agreed in advance.
I found Valeria, a 21 yo all natural girl from Venezuela, particularly cute, but she insisted on CBJ (even with a generous tip). I made a pass.
There were several other options. Alexia from Moldavia made a good impression. Late 20's, medium height, slim, pretty face and good smile, nicely painted, dark hair, lovely be-cup. Would DFK / BBBJ, and delivered. A fairly good session. I would repeat. 105 E /60.
Would I return to Club Calipso? Absolutely.
- Pros: Fair pricing and good lineup. If you are able to find the right girl, you will have a good time here.
- Cons: Not all girls will perform well, so you need to select carefully. There are also many excellent alterntives in central Barcelona with similar price structure and less travel hassle (the other 6 smaller Haima clubs + tons of shared appartments).
I like Club Calipso, but competition in Barcelona is fierce. Perhaps Club Calipso works best for those planning a beach holiday in one of the beautiful beach towns outside Barcelona? Or for those who insist on the bar scene but would like to escape the notoriously overpriced bars and night clubs in central Barcelona?
