Rio de Janeiro Reports

I was at Balcony last evening, it seems like they have a new drink policy in place. (Either the employees jobs were threatened or they get a percentage of all drink bills they ring up). You get constantly hounded by staff to buy drinks! I was headed to the bathroom and didn't even make it past the front desk, when I was asked what I wanted to drink. From the time it took me to go from the bathroom and back out, I was stopped 4 times and asked what I wanted to drink! I have been sitting at the table with a drink in my damn hand and asked if I wanted anything! Annoying as hell!

Heads up! Don't forget to log out of your Email / Facebook and Instant Messengers when you use a public computer! Every single time I went to use a computer in an internet cafe, somebody was logged into one of these 3 accounts. It would very easy to access their info.

Make sure to uncheck that box when logging on and click Log Out before exiting ISG. In Internet Explorer you also should go to Tools, Internet Options and click the Delete button under Browsing History. If you can, check the Delete browsing history on exit option so the next user history will be automatically deleted on exit.

I went to my 2nd favorite place on earth today (help of 2002 was my favorite).4x4 had a number of new girls and even a few old Help regulars working there. 200 for 40 minutes and 220 for an hour. I picked a big bootied morena named Michelle, great sesssion. She gave me her email and number so we can get together on the weekend. I saw at least 5 others that I wanted to fuck before I leave next week! At damn near 300 reais per visit, I will be broke real fast! LOL.

Front desk girl had the nerve to catch an attitude when I didn't want to give her my 7 reais as a tip! We Americans have fucked it up by tippng these females who do nothing but take our money, now every american is asked if he will give them a tip (you never see them ask brasilians for a tip). Not only did she get upset, she threw my change on the table like " here's you little 7R, now get out!"

I sort of feel sorry for them having to watch these young beauties go by raking in cash all day long. Must feel shitty, depressing. And even then, the tip is small like R2. I don't tip the WGs themselves, just the towel ladies.

At Club Florida I did not tip the towel lady once, and one of the drug dealers that roam from the outside door to the upstairs of the place noticed this and basically started harassing me about it. I guess it is customary.

At Cesaro (sic?), the bouncer that takes the entrada once asked for a R5 tip on my way out. And same thing with a T502 bouncer back in February. It's like being in the Phillipines or something..everybody has their hand out. Except there is no 'please sir', and it's more like they move closer to you as if intimidating. Doesn't work.

What does American have to do with it? How do they know you are American? Sou Americano but people in BR always guess that I am German for some reason.

I guess Americans have a different tipping habit than Europeans.
When it comes to buying sex in Brazil there is no tipping expected. Specially not to towels ladies, bouncers or anybody else who didn't touch your d*ck.
Of course it's up to you. If the girl posed nicely for a couple of photos she might deserve a small tip.

It is not just foreigners that get hassled for tips. On the Brazilian boards they constantly complain about the staff at T502 & 4x4 asking for tips.

That friggin receptionist at T502, the one that you first see as you enter, asks me for tips all the time. I have never given her a tip, EVER. Still does not stop her from trying. I even explained to her a few times that I don't think her job is worthy of being tipped, doesn't stop her from trying. I guess if they think there is nothing lost by asking.

BTW, the locker room girls at 4x4 do very well. Lots of guys give them tips, I would think they make at least R$50 per night, maybe R$100 in tips alone. Their salary would be the minimum wage which is R$550 or so now per month.

Now that I have been here for a while I do tip the locker attendants at T65 and MC. They typically do nice things. For me like getting me a bigger / better robe or hanging my clothes to dry when it has been raining. I don't tip much maybe r10 and I don't do it every time. But it is reasonable when you start to know them over time and they help you out.

The lady at 502 is incredibly annoying

I tip the fat Doorman at 502 but only in exchange for the drawings he does on the back of the 502 entrada cards

The majority of Brasilians are clean shaven, once in a while you will see one wearing a moustache. In America, the overwhelming majority of Black Men wear a Goatee, Moustache or a beard. As soon as people see me in brasil, they immediately know I am a gringo because of the facial hair.

I usually recognice black americans in Brazil by their size (larger than most black brazilians) , and their way to dress (the sneakers, caps and shirts) and the different body language.
