If European men need A/C places, there are several:

(1) Spa Home, 594/3, Galle Road, Colombo 3
(2) Natural beauty, 30, 8th Lane, Colombo 3
(3) Global Towers Hotel, 11, Station Road, Colombo 6

Massage costs Rs.2500, and Rs.1500 for HJ. ( Those were the prices the last time I tried them out)

Our esteemed fellow-member Mrpusa has been forced to pay "foreigners' rates". I personally think that is a very bad policy, but the Government is setting an example by charging foreigners more at places like Peradeniya Gardens.

I visited LP , 8th fl. The madam tried to get me for 6K instead of the standard 5K! I held my ground, and she gave in, recommended I take two gals! Instead, I just settled for Pooja. Good service from this provider, except it is rushed, no more than 20 minutes or so and fully protected. Tells me she is going to marry in Dec (already married and divorced from an Italian and has a 5 yr old son) and will move to UK!

I too have a "badu phone". But this perticular day I hadn't ventured out of my house in view of doing this. So wasn't prepared.

A lesson learnt, but without falling into shit. Luckily. I have wised up. I hope junior doesn't convince me otherwsie.

I dont think there is anything wrong in charging more from the foriegner in places like peradenidya gdns. its actually good. Locals get subsidised rates with foriegeners get norml/.higher rates.

Hi Teaboy,

Isn't it Rs 5000 for non locals and 2500 for locals. Or is that only in sunriom?

(I am not 100% sure)

Don't be disappointed. This is general policies in countries that are focusing foreign exchange from tourism. I wish you would have visited the Tajmahal and other places in India, where same policies are executing. I suspect most of other countries are same. Decision is in your hand, if you think that is not reasonable, you may leave it and forget it.
For your information: Some places where foreigners are charged exclusive prices like Peradeniya Gardens;
1. Sigiriya,
2. Horton Plains (World’s end),
3. Pinnawala Elephant orphanage, etc.

So, sadly things are applying to mongering field too. What to do…….?

Seen some reports that mongers are being forced to pay 3k for massage plus 1k in tip. I always thought Orchid was 1k and 500 for HJ. Have not been there in months so don't know if the situation has changed.

If any monger has paid 3k for these places, IMO, you have paid foreigner rates. Please don't pay them 3K. They may try to extort more money from others in similar way in the future.

You may be right. I don't know what the rates for foreigners are in the other places. Whatever the rate is, it is damn excessive.

Are you saying that people with a limited income from Sri Lanka are charged higher rates to visit the Taj Mahal? Thanks for letting me know, because that makes me even less likely to visit India. Reading the ISG forum on India it appears that it is not a good place for mongering either. LE seems to just as corrupt and nasty there.

You are right! Even the Government overcharges foreigners! Though by looks I could pass off as a Sri Lankan, when I visited some touristy places in SL, the guys always asked me something in Sinhala and found out I was a foreigner, and made me pay the higher rate.

Welcome. Experience and the little knowledge I have. I must strongly advise you not to be thinking of doing stuff in the car on the road. I have been with just my girlfriends and had problems many years ago. Now it is worst! You will be sprung by cops pretty soon. Get your self a quiet hotel room. Rs 1000-2000 would be worth it in the long run.

This is my advice. I am sure other seasoned folk in this forum may also advise you.

I don't have any numbers of such to give, but if you read some of my previous posts, you will find as to where you may be able to find some road side assistance (also use protection. With these ladies)
