POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC HELP.

POLICE believe Maroondah has at least three illegal brothels and are calling for the public's help to stamp them out.

Maroondah CIU detective Sergeant David Gover said police suspected two massage parlours and a residential house were operating as illegal brothels — one in Croydon, one in Ringwood East and one in Ringwood.

The two parlours were in busy shopping strips, Sgt Gover said.

'There have been complaints of offers of sexual services at massage parlours in the area, ' he said.

Last month, police raided an illegal brothel operating out of a house in Croydon and arrested three women.

A 56-year-old Box Hill woman will appear in court after being charged with living off the earnings of prostitution and two other women were to be charged on summons with being found in an unlicensed brothel.

The maximum penalty for living off the earnings of prostitution is five years jail.

Consumer Affairs Victoria spokeswoman Rachel Schicker said for a brothel to be legal it needed to be licensed by the Business Licensing Authority, unless the operator had sought exemption from the Sex Work Act.

'Consumer Affairs Victoria regulates the sex work industry by inspecting licensed brothels and escort agencies, ' Ms Schicker said.

'Consumer Affairs Victoria also works with other agencies including the Business Licensing Authority, Victoria Police, the Department of Health and local councils to regulate the industry. '

Sgt Gover urged anyone with information to tell police.

I may have spoken about her before but I went back to one of my favourites today, Snow at OA. $110 for half an hour or $210 for an hour is better then any R&T in Melbourne I reckon. This is a pretty dreary report. It's written this way because I really regret having gone to this place. I'm writing it up so that anyone else interested in going here knows what they should expect. Soapy Bubble Massage (tel: 0424 693 977) is located at a residential house at 34 Tobruk Street, Heidelberg West. I visited this because it is a new business and I was sort of interested in what a soapy massage consisted of. It was just a rub with soapy sponge. Cost of half an hour massage was $60. A body slide and happy ending was going to be another $50. I said that this was too much. I settled for another $20 for topless and a happy ending because I'm stupid. The quality of the massage was poor, perhaps 5 out of 10. The masseur was an Asian woman in her 40s and not very good looking, perhaps 5 out of 10. She was friendly and she at least made an effort. I probably even got longer than 30 minutes, maybe even 40 minutes. But to be honest, I was looking to leave after about the first five or ten minutes. I didn't get the name of the masseur because I'm never going back there again.

I hope no-one minds me putting up a quick review about the Chinese massage service at the Moonee Ponds Massage Centre at 43 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds (ph: 9370 6708). This is the one next to the Chinese restaurant. I remember reading a few months past that someone had a good experience here. I had a massage here a few weeks ago performed by an Asian woman in her 20s. She was a pretty girl but if all I'm going to receive is a massage then I don't really care what my masseur looks like. Cost was $70 for the hour and nothing more than a massage. Quality of massage is probably 6 out of 10. Tell me if you don't want to ever hear about these disappointing experiences again. I am only putting this up because I think that it could save someone else wasting time and money. But I'm happy in the future to only put up reviews of visits that have been successful.

Knowing which places to avoid is as useful as knowing which ones to go to.

Often though, repeat visits to these shops bring "rewards".
