When you say handouts you make it seem like it is something in perpetuity. It is not. It is more akin to what they give ex-convicts when they are released from prison. My girl from Ecuador is a migrant. When they get processed EVERYTHING is taken from them. They even took the wallet she kept her passport in. Her passport, money, and ATM card were the only things she arrived with that she was allowed to keep.
Yes they gave her a hotel to stay in for 2 days until her flight. Yes they gave her a one-way plane ticket from Texas to San Diego. Yes they have her a shitty cell phone to replace the good one they took. (Not even 1 week in the country she went to T-mobile and bought a $99 cell phone that was 8 times better.) Yes they gave her $200 to replace her clothes that they took. And that was that. It is not like she can go back tomorrow and tell the US government that she needs money for food. After that they are on their own. Now if one of those sanctuary cities takes it upon themselves to do something beyond that then I do not know. That is not her case, because she stayed with her sister's brother in law a couple of days, then came to stay with me 10 days, then went to stay with her cousins in Chicago. Now she is going to Michigan to help build houses because work in Chicago has dried up. But no, there is nobody she can go to for any regular handouts.
Chicago and NyC just handed out billions to illegals migrants. This is why Dems are losing the black vote. Chicago is giving 9 k rental assistance to migrants and NYC is giving 2000 $ debit cards. Whoever this girl is needs to pay attention and go get the $$.
How about writing your own trip report!
This is the fourth time the long post has been repeated, taking up a lot of space. Let's try a little harder not to reply to the long post. You can post a comment about it without replying to it. I know you guys like it but we don't have to keep posting it again and again.
I was on my phone and was not interested in editing because it is a pain. Since when did you become a moderator? During the time you have been instructing everyone on the format of the forum that you wish to view, you could have written a trip report.
Now before you get your panties in a knot, no I have not written a trip report lately. Why? Because I have not been to Medellin lately.
When you write a report. 01% as good as the report written by YyzTravel then you can say something to me. Oh, and for you motherfuckers who think he is lying on his dick, he is not. I have partied with the man in multiple countries. He rolls exactly how he wrote his report. Gave it to you straight no chase. A edited version has been posted the the Reports of Distinction for FNG reference. Are you happy now? LOL!
Just my two unsolicited cents. Migrants hate being migrants. They would much prefer to stay in their home country and prosper. Economic instability and economic imbalance are the main drivers of migration. When things get better in a home country, you see less migrants from that country. Trends in migration to the USA are a direct result of us doing great and their origin country doing bad (economically). Improve the economy in an origin country and watch migration from it decrease. I won't get into political instability, because that affects economic stability, so the end effect is the same.
I agree with you 100 percent. I spent a lot of time in the Dominican Republic. I never talked to a Haitian that would not prefer to be able to live in their own country. But it was exactly as you said, political, economic instability led them to look for other opportunities outside of their own country. But in that sense I am a migrant also. Because I left my country of origin for the same reasons. Difference with me is that I don't want to go back. LOL!
