Just in case, I deleted all chats on WhatsApp and Messenger related to girls, and I deleted all pictures of girls on my cellphone and on Google Cloud. Everything is on a thumb drive that I left at home.

After my ten minute wait, I go to the immigration officer and give him my passport. I had filled out the MIG form so he has the information that he needs. He doesn't ask me any questions and doesn't ask to inspect my phone. After a minute, he gives me back my passport and that is my experience.

There is a final part where you are directed to the left where your luggage is x-rayed or directed to the right where you just walk out with your luggage. The officer tells me to go to the right and there is no luggage inspection.

All in all, it went very well and quickly without any hassles. Of course, your experience may differ.

Regarding the guy whose passport was "out of date," guessing it was not expired but did not have the three or is it six months left that Colombia requires. No sympathy there either. I was just in Medellíand a couple of weeks ago. Erased all my Whatsapp, erased my browsing history, brought no condoms and no Viagra. Was asked no questions whatsoever, nor for proof of onward travel (which I did have). But I am old, and white.

Why take any chances? No condoms, no Viagra, no x rated videos on phone.

And I would think everyone knows you need a 6-month buffer on the expiration of your passport.

Failing to register a phone officially if using a local SIM means they will eventually lock it from use. In any country even back home. This is why I just don't bother and I use an eSIM instead (for faster data).

I can get a 2nd eSIM or physical SIM for higher data speeds, but my phone works just fine wherever I go.

First his phone has nothing, then some girls from DR may have sent something, etc. I wonder if the agents just get frustrated because the person can't keep their story straight, they find impossible to understand them, and they just send them back for that.

Also, every time someone recounts being denied entry, they always say "it wasn't just me" and say 3-4 other guys were rejected too. One guy tried suggesting half the plane was sent back. Yet in real life, when we all go through immigration, we don't see anyone turned around. I think there is a human psychological thing about seeking comfort in numbers. "It can't be just me".

I see references in the local press about something called "Angel Watch." I'm not so sure how real that is because there is a surprisingly high amount of BS published by official sources here.

Viagra by itself is not a sign of a sex tourist. There are many guys who have local girlfriends. Even condoms is not really a big factor for the same reason. It is usually something more in addition to Viagra and condoms.

At the same time, first you need to be searched by officials. Yes, you have heard a few stories here and there but how many of us in terms of percentage actually get stopped and searched? I know that I have never been searched or interrogated in my past visits to Colombia for the past 4 years or so. I don't know anyone personally who has been searched in that manner. But yes it does happen to some, the unfortunate few.

I'm surprised even this much has been done.

"It can't be just me".[/QUOTE]You don't see anyone turned around because this is happening in the back room where you get questioned and searched. There is a process in place and one can be detained for a day or two before being sent back home. Besides that, immigration lines are oftentimes 300-400 people long, if they pull out, say 10 people, you won't even notice. And yes, half the fucking plane are sex tourists that can be easily sent home, they just don't have enough resources to check every single guy in the line.
