they do have free wi-fi, but you need to go to the lobby area or the 1st level restaurant to use it. i also got the fastest speeds i've had in jakarta. don't hide in the bar on the lobby level though, no or terrible reception underneath the ledge.

there is the in room broadband connection, but it isn't really cheap, and when i asked for a voucher, i was given the hint about the lobby. great hotel service :).

i did enjoy this hotel. good rooms (apart from the need for some amateur plumbing work to be able to take a shower). decent rates - cheaper than the normal favourite (atlet) which has increased rates markedly lately. a pain to get to from the airport, but a good run back. if you have a desire for getting to senayan, go semi native and get the busway right outside the front door. otherwise, use the bluebird 24/7 taxi rank/gathering point *at* the front door.

made life nicer this trip, as i just had to walk up the road from the last stop of the night (stadium) rather than try staying awake on the busway or taxi all the way back to the other end of town.

If that girl says it has a bad reputation, it may be that's she's meaning it girlie-wise, referring to the blok P4P scene. Does she have a decent job? If no, bet she's fearing competition.

The internet service is not so good in Ambhara. Expensive. 65k for one hour of internet, 175k for whole day.

That would save me the trouble of carrying them. Can anyone give me a better idea where the shop is? Mind you, they're selling the durex vibrating ring everywhere now. I just left Jarkata after a one week stay, first 2 night stay at the Olympic Hotel near Lospasiri Plaza around the corner from TC 2700 is the rate for a business room, they didn't make up my room when I return around 7. Pm both night and miss my wake up call at 5. Am, so I check out and move to spark hotel across the st for the next 4 night, this is a much better hotel and service a much better good location near Hotel Travel and Karitka, I was at hotel travel the last 4 night and it was pack every night with over 100 girl in this place cost is only 285,000 for dlx room and 325, 000 for vip room for one hr, girl here is not as pushy for tip like the girl at Karitka girl there want 100,000 tip in top of the 300,000 rp, I think for vaule and quality hotel travel is the best place in Jarkata for me so far, I like to stay a few more day but I have to go back to China for more buisness and mongering.

Was loitering the Lokasari Plaza area after my session at Travel Hotel at around 11 pm two days ago and checked up a few hotel in the area . There is a hotel at the entrance of Lokasari , starting with " P " ( just slipped my mind on the name ) which was going at the rate of about 185 K Rp. The entrance looks clean ( security entrance area ) I believe the check in counter is at another floor ! Anyone used that hotel before !

It is the Presiene plaza, yes I did check it out on my last trip it is a 2 star dump no, the Spark hotel start at 45 usd and Mecure resko at 65 usd is the best options in that area.

I've stayed at many hotels in the TC area over the years. Princen Park was probably my least favorite because of the crappy beds. The folk there were nice enough, enough.

The Olympic was so-so. I was put off a bit by the refusal to actually show you a room. You look in the book and choose. The room was okay, but you can hear the thumping sound from the KTV far into the night.

The Sparks was a bit better, but quite a bit more expensive. If you go through an agency, you may pay $40-$45. The rates direct through them, are usually much more expensive. They give you free internet (1 hour?) if you pay the nosebleed rate, otherwise, forget it.

They've also hit up a lot of mongers for BS charges. Sheets that were messed up, and stuff in my mini-bar was messed up a few years ago. Always check first when you get to the room.

I stayed at the Arwana a few years back, and it was decent value at 260k. It's on the same street as Hotel Travel.

On my last trip, April 09, I got a rate of 530krp per night at the Mercure Rekso. Pretty good value in my humble opinion.

The only disadvantage I can see is that a few of the contacts I have made on AFF are reluctant to go there for 2 reasons:

1. Hotel is in a 'bad' area.
2. Hotel is too far to go from the main area.

I like it for self funded trips but will always go to Shangri-la when business is paying.

Isn't Arwana hotel on the opposite side Lokasari Plaza ? And they quoted me 260 K too . Sorry if I have been mistaken on the name of the hotel but after the great session at Travel's , I just couldn'y think straight. Both the slim and bobsy Harina and Onek from Travel were two names I could remember ! Others were just irrelevant at that point in time !

Arwana is around the corner, on the same road that Hotel Travel is on (Manga Besar something or another). The hotels that are actually on the premises are the Olympic and Princen Park. Not counting the short time rooms of TC, Bintang Mawar, etc.

Yes you are correct don't stay at the 3rd fl of the Olympic hotel, The KTV music go til 4am in the morning on the 4th fl but because of poor service will not stay there again but their business room for 270k is ok for the price.
