I'll be working in San Antonio for a few months and plan on visiting NL at least once. Is a passport needed to cross the border or is a drivers license enough? Thanks to all who have posted pertinent info on this thread about NL. Would anyone be interested in joining me for a trip there? Just so you know I've posted in the usasexguide in the Indianapolis forum so I'm not a total newbie.
Until June you can cross with a Driver's license/Govt. ID and a birth cartificate. After that a passport will be required.
"Querida bebida" is about as gringo Spanish as one could ever speak. That translates to "Darling drink", not darling would you like a drink. To be proper would be "Quieres una copa" which is do you want a drink. They rarely ever use bebida for drink in a bar it is always "Copa".

Regardless of whether it's the proper term or not they still understand what you mean, and they seem to appreciate the effort.
Yes I understand that but if someone is giving advise on how to say something in the preferred language of the country don't you think it should at least be close? "Quierida" is a noun, "querer" is a verb.

Yes that followed a very detailed report with some very good directions and advice and then gave Spanish lessons that were not even close. I was not trying to offend anybody I was only explaining a better concept of the object that was intended. Listen and learn, it will gain you much respect.
I also apologise. I did not read the report tha you were referring to. I only assumed that you were correcting someone on their trip report. ow that I read the report I realize that I was the one that originally wrote it. My spanish is not the greatest but it gets me by.

I went to NLBT last Saturday, 1-10-2009. NLBT was slow with not as many chicas as usual and few customers. The out of town chicas have not returned from going home for Christmas.
Papagayo's had few customers and not as many chicas as usual. I like slender women. Three of my favorite chicas, the flaquita bonitas Lili, Viviana and Michelle were not working. Pickings were slim in Papa's for slender chicas.
Papagayo's is my favorite bar in NLBT and the only bar in NLBT that still allows smoking. I enjoy smoking my cigars.
There were fewer door girls than usual. They had their buckets of coal going to keep warm. My favorite door girl Gabriella, her sister Izamara and cousin Karen have not returned from Christmas vacation in Michoacan.
Danash had a medium sized crowd, some good looking chicas and average to mediocre chicas.
Senoritas sucked hind tit, the chicas were mediocre at best. It was like if Papagayo's was a strip club. Only one chica danced on stage when I was there. When she got off the stage, no other chicas got on stage to strip/dance.

but decided to go to the Dominican Republic in Feb. instead.

Hey no problem I was only trying to help. I have worked in Mexico for 10 years and also spent a lot of time in Colombia, Costa Rica, DR, Malabo so mine isn't perfect either but probably better than most gringos. I didn't want to edit everything and it was no need for anybody to read the whole thing just to find a small part that needed correcting.
I will be in San Antonio next week.
