It depends on what your intentions are.
If you are going there to relax, then you'll spend most of your time around the Hamra area, and the discos and bars. There, you'll meet some truly incredible beauties, and you'll be sheltered in an "Ivry Tower" of peace and tranquility. It is made for the well off, so no troubles around. It won't be the Lebanon you see on TV. Plus, now that too few tourists are to be found, you'll be a rare commodity, so everywhere you'll be treated as royality. For me, it is worth it.
If you want the "Raw" experience, and you'll visit the Suburbs and go outside Beirut, then you might see signs of unrest. It's not at a level of violence that you might be affected, but you never know.
It's like the difference between Manhattan and the Brooklyn. Both are NY, yet it's like a totally different country.
In all cases, you know your own situation, so make a decision seeing all perspectives. Also, you still have time to see how things develop before deciding.
+1.
I believe Beirut is already back to normal.
Hicham drop me a pm when you are back to beirut.
