When I travel to a new mongering destination, I always read boards to get a lay of the land. What does p4p cost, what is the tipping custom, how and where does one pick up. Its not always clear to a new visitor how the system works.
As a local expat here in Angeles, anyone reading the boards might consider the locals here do have an agenda. They have a frequent ***** about what tourists spend, how these spenders squeeze them out when they are partying in a bar, buying multiple double ladies drinks, throwing balls, ringing bells. Clearly a guy who lives here, chases girls day in and day out, brings some budget to mind, develops ways to minimize costs, etc. Is this not true of any tourist destination, the locals knowing where to buy? Often though, locals think they can control the increasing costs of their entertainment by chastising tourists into thinking they should "not spoil" the girls. Its a losing game.
The main strip is divided into three sections. The Korean bars (which I don't know much about), the Perimeter Road Bars and the Fields Avenue bars. Perimeter road pricing is: Local drinks 50 to 65 peso. Single Ladies drinks 100 to 120 peso, BF's from 1200 to 1400 peso. Fields pricing: Local drinks 95 peso, Single Ladies drinks 140 to 160 peso, Bf's 1500 to 3000 peso. Most bars and most girls are 1500 peso, but some of the show bars operate a tier system with their "better" looking girls going for 3000. Golden Nile has introduced an even higher tier up to 4000 to 5000. There are exceptions at various bars, during various promotions, but above is an accurate range at most bars.
I generally tip the waitress 20 peso, unless they play the 50 peso note change game, something recently started. No matter what your change, you will get a bunch of coins and only 50 peso notes. I generally just leave them the coins when they do this. Unless the girl plays games, I generally tip them 1,000 peso on a bf. Totally agree one can tip less, even less than 500 peso, maybe only trike fare. To each his own.
