I think it's a good idea. I like CB2, but often I end up in an apt. What I miss in an apt is not the women, because I can find them or have them just like everyone else, but the camaraderie and opportunity to bs with my fellows. It's possible that I could pick up a chick there too, but that wouldn't be the object, because I've already got that covered. But as everyone knows, there are many hours in a day, and it doesn't take that long to session, so what do you do then? I'd like to socialize. If they charge a significant cover, which they should, perhaps they can make money off it, in addition to sales of beers and drinks. I look at it from the perspective of what if offers me, which is attractive.

Let me say that I know what I'm talking about here as I have over 15 years experience in Hospitality-Service Industry and have had the pleasure of working with more than one guest judge from "Top Chef". From a Bar / Restaurant perspective I'm on point. I'm now in Sales and Marketing so I know a little something about that too. I'm not some "on-line hard-dick" who's talking out his ass; I can back up my thought and words with facts and logically thought out ideas. A radical concept on this board I know.

"Gringos" (I'm using gringo as a pronoun and not as a pejorative so let's not fire up that old tired argument please) who live here now are NOT going to pay a cover / door fee. They have their "novias" and more importantly they know where to go for "Pussy Economica" so why go to CB1n2 Annex and pay for something they already have in their back pocket or cell phone? You can't even get these these cheap gringos to pony up for a decent tip when you split a check with them or they ask for separate checks (which is lame in the states and super-lame in a foreign country) so how are you going to get them to pay just to walk in the door? The word I've learned in Colombia is "chichipata" I believe. I think I spelled that wrong. This demographic is mostly out of your core.

"Colombianos" who monger also know where to roll for some side pussy from their wife and novias and you will NOT get any sort of $10-$50K cover from 80% (if not more) of the Colombians, they simply can't afford the extra tax let alone take the girl back to their parents house for a date. You going to let them rent a mattress behind CB2 or have extra large bathroom stalls?

"Non Mongering Colombianos" or normal people if you will, are not going to hang out at a place with a gang of out-of-shape-silver fish gringos chatting up prepagos. Lunch crowd or business lunch people? Nope. Family out to diner for Abuela's Cumple? Nope. Carolina and her girlfriends pre-gaming before the club? Nope. Right their is you lose the majority of your "Regulars" and if you've ever owned a sub shop, won ton joint, any business for that matter knows your regulars pay the rent, lights, ect.

"Vacation Monger" = Bread and Butter. Are there enough VM's to sustain a business let alone make it successful? This isn't the DR, Panama or CR for the time being so it's not like they have bus loads of gringos all over the place. (Thank God)

From what I understand CB makes loot from it's hotel business and other services and not the Girls. How are you going to make MONEY? Door Charge, $$ for a Chica Drink, tax the girls, tax the monger when he leaves?

Ricker said that a Mansion Girls appeal is the GFE. 100-150K for a few hours. What happens when 10 guys take out 10 girls and your left with 15 guys sitting at the bar and only 5 girls are available? Those girls that were taken out aren't coming back for a few hours or if at all. Those 10 guys that are with out a girl are going to leave and then how are you going to make money? Are you going to bleed the CB1-2 talent pool dry by offering these girls to any VM with the $20K to get in? Does this not compromise the "exclusivity" and benefit of staying at either CB? You just going to let any prepago come in off the street to set up shop?

This is not a personal attack, I'm sure you can see this by reading the post and not skimming. This is a forum for discussion and I am just presenting an alternative point of view. I feel that all the questions I have brought up and summations are fair to ask and to consider.

He is not opening a new night club in Manhattan, he's converting a garage into a small bar / diner with the added benefit of chicas available.
Simple. He's not trying to sell a business plan to a bank for a loan.

The building is already paid for, the chicas aren't being paid by the establishment, as a matter of fact, there are more than enough of them that would love to return / start working at the Mansion and / or new Garage bar.

Word gets around.

Let's see, they can work in a casa for 8 to 10 hours making half of 30 to 40K pesos, OR mix it up with gringos with money, paying 100 to 150K pesos or more, get maybe a nice meal, drinks, etc and they build up clients.

Tough choice.

Medellin Bob cleans out a garage, re-arranges some furniture, stocks a bar, buys some beer, maybe pays a little for bartender, doorman, whatever and Aussie Greg cooks up some meat pies, etc.

Big deal.

Small investment for him, they already have oodles and oodles of chica contacts and plenty of former gringo clients from the hotel business, new clients and prospective clients.

This idea is a winner and the entrance fee means "I am a serious customer looking for a puta to pay. Also I have money to buy a drink at the bar" (My 2 cents=$40K cover and which would include a 20K credit on a tab good for today only. Keep the water bottle assholes OUT. The girls don't need to meet guys like that. Colombia has enough of those).

In the beginning the balanace of girls to customers will need to be adjusted, sure, but many girls would be on call. When clients arrive at the bar and there is a lack of women "Have another round gents I am calling more girls now". More bar sales.

For the most part the free entrance should be for the guests of both establishments. But Obviously at Bob's discretion he can hand out a VIP card for a gringo living here who is a regular customer who spends money on food and drinks for himself and the ladies and someone who partakes in the p4p. Obviously this guy is a high percentage profit customer. As opposed to the cheapos. Bottom line is every guy walking in should be spending 40K as bar revenue.

Speaking of cheapskates they don't do Fase II nor Lunas or anything high end. They try it once. They watch the COP / USD FX rate everyday.

As Ted Knight says in Caddyshack,"The world needs ditch diggers too". These guys are not Mansion clientele and will try Bob's place once just to come here and trash it.

Just sayin'[/QUOTE]I would suggest that the bar idea has been well thought out by my friends at CB1 & CB2, but experience tells me differently. Aussie Greg, has a good heart, but is one of the most impulsive people that I have ever met. I hope the pros and cons of this new business and all of its ramifications have been considered. I don't know Bob that well, but he is a big boy. Did I say decisions have consequences? Despite my occasional complaints about the general disorganized state there, I always enjoy my infrequent stays. Decisions have consequences, and my Colombian Piasa makes it difficult to provide the CB's with my patronage. It is with minor irritations, simply a great place to vacation: beautiful girls, friendly staff, and some very interesting fellow guests.

Poblado is not el centro. Most if not all of the recent issues of substance at CB1, in particular, have been complaints from the neighbors. It is surrounded with high rise apartments inhabited by some of Medellin's upper class. All they have to do is go out on their balconies and everything that is going on outside the Mansion can be seen. No more naked girls jumping into the swimming pool on Sunday afternoon as was the regular fare. I really like the extra stimulation that an on site bar could bring to the CB experience. But, what will the neighbors think and do? I'm sure the CB boys have thought about that and have a plan. Maybe I'm just an eternal optimist.

My Medellin Piasa is in Argentina for a semester there until she returns to America to complete her education. So, I'm off to my virgin trip to Rio. I'm excited, and for me and you, I'm wishing.

I really like the idea of a LDV type of club in MDE.

I have never stayed at the Mansion. So correct me if I'm wrong on this. It seems part of the appeal of taking a Mansion girl is the GFE type of time she spends with a client. I have read many reports of one of those girls spending a lot of time with the Mansion guests. This along with the GFE tenteded to make the appox. 150 K a good deal.

Now lets look at the real LDV. Anyone who has been to CTG and taken a girl from there almost always notes the desire of the girl to finish up in a hour or sooner so they can return to the bar for another client. I think the same thing will happen here in MDE. The girls for the most part in the Manson are satisfied to get that nice 150 K and then they give good service in hopes of a repeat or at least her John telling the other guests how good she was. This will most likely not happen as the natural greed of human nature will make them want to return to the bar for another slice of the pie.

So I think the cover or lack of is not the real problem here.

Speaking of covers lets look at Classico in Sosua. It is around a couple of bucks at most. Help when it was open was I am not aware of the price if any. LDV and Electra was zero. Tequlla rock in Lima was around $8, but free coupons were always around.

Since LDV seems to be the benchmark here than lets briefly look at the CTG scene compared to MDE. MDE has 30 to 35 k beautiful Centro Casa girls. The only Casa I visited in CTG was 100K and not that great. SW in MDE are 25 to 30 K where CTG I think 50k is about as low as you can get. (I'm talking quilty here ). So my main point is 150K is OK for the guests staying at the Mansion for the value they recieve, but that same 150K in a LDV setting is not a good deal for the experenced MDE monger.

There are only so many high end customers in MDE as the recent closing of the Dollhouse proves.

Hell, open it up and give it a shot, but beware you may be hurting your bread and butter original business.

BTW excuse my use of the Mansion insted of the proper names CB1 and 2. Old habits die hard.

I for one would really like to show what I can do with food for the new bar and also have up to date sporting programs.

I wouldn't criticize anybody's choice for a name if I didn't have a serious concern. I think it could be dangerous. Hi JG, you know you and I are on the same page on most things, but I beg to differ on a couple of points. As far as the girl wanting to be back within the hour, that's something that can be discussed and agreed upon ahead of time. And like Ricker said it depends a lot on chemistry. They would still have the same incentive to provide good service for the very same reason you stated,"repeat clients or the guest testifying as to how good she was". I don't see where that would change. And as far as the Mansion, any new service, if successfull, brings in additional revenue. Even a small cover charge as I proposed of 10-20k pesos can bring tens of thousands of $ a year. When I did the calculations for My Place, it would have brought in, if successfull over $100USA thousand a year and I wasn't going to sell liquor, that was just from the cover charge. So I think it can only be a "win, win" situation for The Mansion.

I have read many reports of one of those girls spending a lot of time with the Mansion guests. This along with the GFE tenteded to make the appox. 150 K a good deal.

Now lets look at the real LDV. Anyone who has been to CTG and taken a girl from there almost always notes the desire of the girl to finish up in a hour or sooner so they can return to the bar for another client. I think the same thing will happen here in MDE. The girls for the most part in the Manson are satisfied to get that nice 150 K and then they give good service in hopes of a repeat or at least her John telling the other guests how good she was. This will most likely not happen as the natural greed of human nature will make them want to return to the bar for another slice of the pie.

So I think the cover or lack of is not the real problem here.

Speaking of covers lets look at Classico in Sosua. It is around a couple of bucks at most. Help when it was open was I am not aware of the price if any. LDV and Electra was zero. Tequlla rock in Lima was around $8, but free coupons were always around.

Since LDV seems to be the benchmark here than lets briefly look at the CTG scene compared to MDE. MDE has 30 to 35 k beautiful Centro Casa girls. The only Casa I visited in CTG was 100K and not that great. SW in MDE are 25 to 30 K where CTG I think 50k is about as low as you can get. (I'm talking quilty here ). So my main point is 150K is OK for the guests staying at the Mansion for the value they recieve, but that same 150K in a LDV setting is not a good deal for the experenced MDE monger.

There are only so many high end customers in MDE as the recent closing of the Dollhouse proves.

Hell, open it up and give it a shot, but beware you may be hurting your bread and butter original business.

Maybe that is the real reason why mb and co are interested in doing this.

Even if the bar is just look after our hotel guests and he has the option to invite who he desires on top of that.

We as a hotel always wanted to get into more servises for our guests, more liquor food ect in stead of guests calling in domacilos all the time.

I for one would really like to show what I can do with food for the new bar and also have up to date sporting programs.
