This topic has been debated a million times. You know that Soi 33 will always have a steady flow of customers as not everyone wants to mess through NEP / Cowboy etc... There's a niche market for everything in BKK. Just like SOL / Lolitta's has it's market, Eden has it's market, Soi 33 has it's market.

Most customers go to this area for just the hostess type bar, non smoking, not loud brash music, just hang out with work friends. Older and more well off men then other bars visit these places as the prices are higher. But compared to many countries the price is not high and many guys do NOT want to mess with NEP or Nana area or such.

And it's kind of funny but many girls get taken as permanent GF's from soi 33 very often by fat lazy rich guys and the girls know this. So it's more of a hunting ground for the girls then cowboy or other places are. The girls are more educated (ie can speak english and are sneakier then hell).

But lately with the bad economy, many bar girls on soi 33 did turn to a more loose open more like "cowboy" approach.

I agree. No one is really forcing you either to do anything. Sure, raising the local price sucks.. but I come to LOS for 2-3 weeks and I spend a normal thai year salary on fun so of course the ladies up the rates as much as they can.

I always compare with p4p elsewhere. Like "home" in europe.. 450 USD for 60 min. Or.. 200 USD for some poon in Seoul... So YES - it is "wrong" for them to up the price just "because" we could afford it but it sets a standard that should be frown upon. Also IMHO.

Run that past 200 times a year and that is 8000$ more to pay annually.

As you can see, when you do this on a small scale as say a tourist then its a few hundred dollars.

For us people who really do monger, all the time, then you appreciate that the increased costs are not minimal, and we professional mongers appreciate value and getting the most bang for your buck.

So please, whilst you evaluate your little world and your little holiday/s, do not presume to know other peoples lives or habit or simply underestimating the volume of fun they are having in one year.

So, maybe you’re a lowly civil servant toiling away in what feels like perpetuity. I doubt I would walk more than a block out of my way, I wouldn’t not eat somewhere to save $20, I won’t traipse around an airport to save it on taxifare and I CERTAINLY would not pass on a woman or 3 that I wanted to fuck because she/they wanted $20 more. NEVER! Not unless I had to. Many of us don’t and never will.

So, with that being said, I suggest a re-examination of both compass and propensity for misjudgment are in order lest someone mistake you for a poor bitter man…

Good response. I agree with most of your comments, with one exception see below. Tulip is for the most part a safe and clean place and for most farang punters it's one of the few 'safe bets' in Bangkok and certainly good value for money if you're quite new to the Thailand scene. The quality of service, in my experience, is unparalleled there.

However, I disagree with you about unprotected sex in Tulip. I had it on my second visit there. I was not a victim in this situation, I was as much to blame as she was and events just sort of took over. But if it happened to me on my second vist, and I'm no Brad Pitt nor John Holmes, then it most certainly can happen to anyone. Indeed, this is true throughout Thailand. From my experience, girls from Thailand, Phillipines, China, Indonesia, Cambodia etc care much less about the risks of unprotected sex than most of us farangs/gringos/gweilos.

A while ago I wrote on these boards about G-Clubs in Bangkok where you can basically pay for the company of a Thai girl while drinking, dancing and watching some live entertainment. It's a very different and more expensive scene than go-go bars, and in most cases the women will not go home with you. On the upside the women are usually much more attractive and have more balanced, normal lives. It's a fun alternative to the other offerings in Bangkok.

I highly recommend you try a new G-Club that opened up in the same place of the old KaraFun. Which used to be an afterhours party place. This G-Club has a very different concept. All of the women there actually sing and dance themselves on stage. It's sometimes like watching American Idol! The club is set up like a swanky lounge and is more low-key and classy than your typical G-Club. However, I was really blown away by the performing talent on stage (they practice quite a bit from what I was told with quite a few English songs). And a few of the girls are truly among the most stunning looking in Thailand. Also came across some who speak really good English and are more worldly (e. G. Have passports and have actually stepped outside Thailand).

The only downside is cost. Membership here is 20K baht and serves like a prepaid card for drinks, mixers and lady time ( 350 baht for 40 minutes). The membership gets you 20% off these costs, but a typical evening can easily run you 5K. This membership structure is VERY different and MORE costly than other clubs such as Caribbean where I'm a member and for the same 20K baht you get 10 bottles of liquor and unlimited free mixers. Unfortunately they are shutting down Caribbean next month. Not enough business. And memberships are actually being transferred to KaraFun (from what I've been told). If you want to enjoy KaraFun without a membership, you have to open up a bottle of alcohol (2, 000 baht) and you don't get the 20% discount.

If you're living/working in Thailand and have some money, a G-Club is not a bad venue to meet and date a quality Thai girl. You'll get someone who is on average much more attractive and "high society". These women make good money, often have their own apartments and even own a car. From my experience, if you click well with one of these women, it's easy to get a phone number at the end of the night and score a dinner the next day. One recommendation is avoid hotels. These women are very sensitive to being seen by others as a go-go girl and are generally uncomfortable in hotel type settings. Also, it's fun to "barfine" these G-Club girls. About 4500-6000 baht and you can take them outside the club. However, if a girl likes you, she may be willing to call in unavailable to the G-Club and ask you to pay the penalty which may only be 1, 000 baht.

Again, it's a very different scene and not for everyone. But would definitely give the new KaraFun a try at least once for a very different experience.

Have to disagree with you about the Chinese... they are very insistent on the condoms. No problem getting BB from any of the other nationalities though, especially Indonesian and to a lesser extent Philipines (must be due to Islam and Catholicism). But here in Egypt it is 100% unprotected (more so than Asian countries).
