Bit late reading this as away on business but this is for real?? Re Sammon's original post, 19 year old and visa? Then it has been 'fixed' as there is a miniumum age for visa for Filipinas and the Philippines Labour Office is getting tougher. And the minimum salary for Filipinas house girls is AED 1500 per month (go to the Embassy it is there in black and white).

The Embassy in AD had at one time 30-40 runaways..all abused in various ways, many with no days off, no mobile and no salary. I know this from visiting the place and helping one girls there (a friend of a WG I knew).

But CM - your FR is really over the top and personally you should get it deleted.

Sammon - tell her facts on wages as I state above. Better still you get her a visa and you sponsor her as a DH (like another ISG memeber has done...and he then found her a real job and she is very happy). That way you can have your cake and eat it.

Or let me have her details and she can be my DH, I will try and sponsor her..I am a good teacher :D

On further questioning about the age issue you raised, she has admitted to me that her passport is fixed to show she is 23 years old. How she did that I do not know. Maybe the agency did it. I know in many countries date of birth can be altered easily.
I am not the type to poke my nose into her life asking lot of questions to which she may or may not have answers yet.
I will wait till she gets there in the begining of september. Ofcourse she can get out of there if she feels threatened in any way. It is not like she has to endure the abuse if there are any. She knows very well I am there for her.
We will see.

We will see.[/QUOTE]But on the other side Philipines emabassy is only accepting attested documents from home country that is philipines in this case. Agents are required to attest the documents at their respective departments in Philipines then only visa will be issued here.

Having been a long time admirer of ISG however I am a beginner when it comes to posting FR’s. Hopefully now I can add something to one of the best hobbies in the world.

I am familiar with Dubai as I have visited the place for the past 2-3 years, as well as various other destinations where I will post FR’s later.

Regarding my Dubai experiences I will try and break it down into hotels, AMP, street action etc. For any information pertaining to the post below you can PM when my PM is ready. The experience below was over a period of 4-6 weeks recently.

Various Massage Joints

Renowned European massage parlour with two branches. Entry fee and one hour massage fee is around AED300 and with a loyalty card your tenth visit is free. Girls are usually very pretty and friendly. I usually go for the Chinese/Vietnamese where a happy ending is guaranteed for a tip that varies with the particular lady but usually around AED100. They do have various other nationalities including African and Fili. Service includes an oily body massage, a lot of attention to the necessary areas, with little touching/groping but a good oily HJ. Just make sure you get yourself a room as some of the rooms were once separated by curtains. Excellent shower facilities are available as well. With regards to extras, always asked but never succeeded.

Next is a rather popular massage parlour near Dhiyafa (going towards the Bur Dubai) has an entrance fee of approx AED200. The ladies range from a 6-7 but the service is a hit and miss. There was a nice Indo girl there who I feel was willing to go all the way but wanted a lot in terms of commitment and was asking for temporary accommodation. Never pursued this as did not want to get involved. I feel the girls here have an attitude problem where they want to go the distance but the establishment doesn’t let them. However, it is excellent if you are after a quality massage with a HJ depending on the mood of the lady.

Terminal Airport Spa/Massage. I had to try this experience as the shear thrill of getting lucky at the airport is exciting. The massage is excellent and the service is attentive however the ladies are average. However made a complete fool of myself when I asked for the lady “any extra services” and she said no way!! Heard from a friend he managed to talk the girl into giving him a HJ so you can’t blame me for trying. I still feel on a good day you can get something there.

Another AMP near Seashell Inn/Hotel in Bur Dubai that is actually on the 4th floor of an apartment/office block on the side street. Entrance is rather nice and the receptionist was absolutely gorgeous. I asked if she could perform the massage and the answer was No!! No real line up like the HK saunas/massage joints, but I asked for a pretty lady and was given a reasonably attractive lady. All massage rooms were separated by curtains, but I got the feeling ¾ through the massage that something was there to be offered. After a bit of convincing I got nice HJ but I was warned to be extremely quiet. Forgot the fee’s but it was reasonable. Lady did not ask for a tip but I gave her one anyway.

Hotel/Bars Pickups

I have visited most of the places already mentioned within the Golden Triangle, as well as Rattlesnake, Rumours, Majestic etc. I never hang around in bars due to the simple fact that I do not smoke or drink. I am only there for one reason and that is if I see anyone I fancy, I take their number and fix an appointment. I’ve had little success in these places due to limited time I spend in the bars. I have never ventured into the bars/hotels in Deira as I find it too far to drive and the parking is a hassle.

Nearby these places in Bur Dubai there was a lot of street action which has substantially reduced. I once picked up an African for a quick BJ in the car. Paid 200….I know that’s a lot but the thrill of being blown in the car was amazing. There are still a number of them you can see the parking lots of all the hotels mentioned above. I have also picked up a few PRC’s and gone to their apartments nearby. Another good pick-up area is lurking around these apartments and see them enter/leave. About a few years ago you could drive around the golden triangle area and Bur Dubai and it was like a meat market on the streets. As it stands I don’t think I would ever pick anyone from the streets in Dubai again due to LE these days.

Whenever I fly through Dubai, I usually stay at the Fairmont or Crown Plaza. On all occasions and due to how late at night I arrive I visit the bars to look around. At the Fairmont there is a bar upstairs on the 2nd/3rd floor which has some stunning women. Their prices begin at 1500 for ST. On the ground floor as you enter the hotel there is a bar on the right hand side where I picked up an Uzbek girl recently. She was a 6-7, ok face but very friendly. The only drawback of picking someone up from these hotels is they are expensive. I ended up paying 1000AED for 2 hours with 2 pops and a crappy massage. Plus point is you don’t have to commute but the negative is a high price and lousy service. I have had similar success at the Crown Plaza bar on the same floor as the reception. By the way, an excellent place to watch some footy!! Both these places the prices reflect the hotels and not the women.

A bitter experience (hotel related) is when I picked up a contact from expats website for an African lady. I was told she was in Rotana One and was asked to call for her to get the room number on arrival. Called her about 8 times and phone was switched off. Waited in reception as I was very horny and 30 mins later she called back giving me the room number. No problem going up to her room. Upon entering and looking around I should have known better and left immediately. The place was a filthy and a complete pit, she was dirty and drunk. Stayed and bargained for half hour with one pop. Lasted 10 mins and I came while she was giving me a BJ. I’m glad I came as quickly as I was desperate to get out. Warning, do not call any Africans staying at Rotana or Crown Plaza. It’s a scam. You better off with the Africans hanging out at Regal, Panorama etc.

I will post some more FR's later this week. My next trip to Dubai is in two weeks when I aim to fulfill three things. A double act, a full night with a working girl and Fili ( I don’t know if totsie is still around). Hope I’ve added some value to any newcomer to Dubai or to anyone who reads this report.

domestic workers

despite the hardships of dubai's male migrant construction workers, these men still benefit from a community. dubai's women migrants, by contrast, find themselves isolated, alone, and often abused as domestic workers.

though a significant portion of trafficking victims are not the decisionmakers in the transaction, a current global phenomenon involves women consciously deciding to seek employment abroad. while cultural dictums expect women to manage the household, approximately one-third of households worldwide lack a male breadwinner. it is the woman's responsibility, therefore, to provide for her family. mothers and young girls take the initiative to migrate, carrying with them the prospects of eventually earning a better income, fleeing a life of misery, or supporting a family. though many are aware of the harsh conditions they will be forced to endure, women choose to view their employment as a temporary remedy to a desperate circumstance.

it is not only the women who seek work: employers also prefer female labor. women are assumed to be more simple-minded and obedient. they are less likely than their male counterparts to rebel against adverse working conditions. from a multi-national corporation's perspective, female workers are preferred because the pay for women is less than the pay for men. a hallmark of globalization is the aim toward efficiency and cheap input; the ready supply of women and the eager demand by corporations meet happily in the arena of forced labor and modern day slavery.

but dubai is not catering to women for factories. instead its wealthy emirati citizens cull foreign women for domestic work. much like their male counterparts, domestic workers are often recruited through legal means, registering for visas under a sign reading "dubai cares," which hangs in the arrivals lounge of dubai international airport. hailing primarily from india, sri lanka, bangladesh, ethiopia, and the philippines, these women are desperate and impoverished, depending on their new home for a better life and money to send back to the family. however, once a domestic worker arrives at the house, she is legally under her employer's complete control, since the sponsoring employer also holds the strings to her visa. this fact is especially significant to the situation of domestics, for uae labor laws, like those in countries such as the united states, do not recognize domestic workers as members of the labor force and thus grant the employer complete responsibility and control over the new arrival.

though exceptions certainly exist, domestic workers frequently endure any number of hardships, included the oft referenced forced confinement, restricted communication with those outside the home, physical and mental abuse, oppressive debts, and work under threats. together, these circumstances define another hidden genre of forced labor in dubai. and yet, unlike their construction worker counterparts, these women suffer the additional burdens of communalism and sexual harassment.

debts and wages become a major theme of the domestic's situation. often, these women enter dubai with exorbitant fees and debts, which place them in a position in which they feel obligated to continue working until their salary can become their own. it is unclear how much domestic workers are paid, though research has revealed that in dubai, and the uae in general, wages are often based on the nationality of the woman. a report by human rights watch quoted a source which revealed that monthly salaries for filipinas range between us$250 to 300 and for sri lankans and africans between us$100 to 150, the result of a general perception that filipinos are a sign of greater status for the household as the more intelligent and better educated of the migrants. these salaries pay for work which averages to 15 hours each day, often with no specified day or hour of rest.

in addition to long hours at low pay, domestic workers suffer a spectrum of abuses. psychological abuse is certainly the most common, with verbal insults and threats pervading the households. additionally, migrant domestics suffer a range of deprivations, whether it is a lack of sleep, insufficient food, and poor living conditions. eleven of the 26 filipina domestic workers interviewed in the uae in 2006 by human rights watch recorded a deprivation of sufficient nutrition. rosa alvarez, a filipina domestic worker, was quoted as saying, "i don't want to die from starvation and too much work. breakfast was water and bread, there was no lunch. they would say i can only eat bread. i lost five kilograms [eleven pounds] in three months." finally, sexual harassment and assault, spawned by the already precarious position of these women in isolation in their homes and hampered by finances and threats against their person, occurs widely throughout. with nowhere to run and language barriers against them, these women have little form of protest.

i seem to remember that there was another filipina who lied about her age to get a visa to uae. things were not quite what she expected. see following:

when balabagan was 14 years old, she finally decided to apply for an overseas job that would be able to help her parents support their family. a job recruiter secured the job for her by listing her age at 28. she was assigned to work for a 67-year-old widower with four sons in dubai.

initially apprehensive about her assignment, balabagan said she was comforted with the fact that she and her new employer shared the muslim religion, so there would likely be a level of respect. unfortunately, that turned out to be a wrong assumption.

sarah said she was subjected to sexual harassment by her employer’s young sons, who would routinely order her to bring towels, for them, as they stepped out of the shower naked. balabagan remarked that she would just close her eyes and do her best to ignore their sexual advances.

on the night of july 19, 1994, which was barely a month into her new job, baloushi entered sarah’s room and threatened to kill sarah if she refused to have sex with him. balabagan refused and pleaded with her master to reconsider his advances.

“no, father, no!” balabagan said she had begged the man.

with her honor and chastity on the line, the teenage servant had no choice but to defend herself. as revealed by court proceedings later, sarah repeatedly stabbed baloushi to stop him from the attack.

almost a year after the horrific incident, on june 26, 1995, a local court ruled that balabagan was guilty of manslaughter, which carried a sentence of seven years imprisonment along with being ordered to pay the 150,000 dirhams to the relatives of the deceased.

Even one case of abuse is one too many. But your original post inferred that abuse is common. There are tens of thousands of domestic workers in Dubai who have been here for many years, and I know many who prefer to stay here than go back in their home countries. Most are treated well, and as part of the family.
