It's amazing what 5 star Booking / Agoda review can lead to. Especially when you mention the girl by name in your review.

It wasn't necessarily a strategy. Just found opportunities by doing so.

And so she has with 'her friends'.

(I would still love to 'nail' her though, but I know that's not going to happen).

Here's a tip for dating hotel staff. Obviously banging her on premises is totally out. It's immediate dismissal from a good job for her. Similarly, taking her to another hotel won't work because all her friends and classmates work there so it's the same result. One trip, go to her bar and let slip that you 'needed more space' for a few days so have booked an AirBnB. Just leave it at that. No handing out addresses. No making offers to meet later. At work, the walls have ears and if someone hears you, then again it has bad consequences for her. Later message her on FB and work your magic.

But it won't happen with this girl.

Too much of a risk for her and she's way too innocent.

I knew that from the start.

That's not to say other hotel staff aren't off limits.

And as you suggested, there's always a work-around.

I've found over the years that hotel staff can give you more information than simply guiding you to the nearest market or getting you a taxi.

I'm still in touch with a few girls who worked in hotels in Cebu when I visited.

Return visits have been fruitful by keeping in touch and staying with them in a different area ie: Mactan.

It is widely known that foreigners can't own land in the Philippines. How did he not know that? I also question how she could have been married several times before. There is no divorce in the Philippines. Possibly she was married and divorced in a third country.

Some of this is just life advice. When you marry a woman, you marry into her family, too, if she is close to them. Look at the kind of people they are. Never give what you will miss or what is necessary. Filipinas are wonderful people in general, but always go in with eyes wide open. I feel bad for this guy, but he didn't do the 7 p's, and it shows.

Especiallly if you are marrying someone in a different culture in a different country halfway around the world.

Or alternately some guy in his home country who met and fell in love with a pinay online, planning to retire and move here for happily-ever-after, transferred some money to her before his arrival for said home, then faced disappointment upon arrival. Its quite another to hear seasoned expats who visited here as tourists for many years, then retired and moved here, then made the same purchase for his GF / wife after living here for several years, still not knowing that it would not be his.

We also each have official wills which leave both properties to the surviving spouse.

In the event of her pre-deceasing me, I will be sole owner of the condo (foreigners can own condos in the PH).

The property in her province is slightly more complicated. The house and lot will become mine as per the will, but only for a "reasonable period".

Here is the advice:

A foreigner in the Philippines cannot own land, but can own a house built on a Filipino spouse's land. After the Filipino wife's death, the foreigner has a reasonable amount of time to dispose of the property and collect the proceeds, or it will be transferred to the Filipino heirs. The specific timeframe is not defined by law, but it's considered a reasonable period.

My lawyer suggests a "reasonable time" is 90 days. Her will already details who the heirs are so I would divest myself of the property well within 90 days.

It was only a few years ago that I discovered condos were possible for a foreigner.

I still get emails and WhatsApp messages every second day from someone wanting to sell me one.

A Pina can get divorced overseas and that divorce can then be registered in the Phils.

They can also get a marriage annulment. A contact in Sabang did this.

It's a long process and with restrictions, but with the right legal representation, a bit of luck, and a fair bit of cash to influence those in authority, it becomes more possible.

Remarriage is possible if there is a court order that declares the marriage as null and void.

Interestingly, a marriage in The Phils can be considered invalid for a number of reasons. One being, parties in which one killed their spouse or the other's spouse with the intention to marry.

It's always a case of 'buyer beware'.

It I feel for the bloke, but it looks like he didn't do his homework.
