Sporadic,
Thanks for the info, very much appreciated. As I said, I'd stay closer to the triangle, but the lure of a free room at the sofitel is too much to pass up.
Thanks again

Hey guys,
I'm looking to stay at either:
1. Ibis World Trade Centre or
2. Dar Al Sondos (by Le Meridien).
Can anyone give any idea which would be better for bringing home guests in terms of heading straight to the room with no problems and bypassing reception?
FYI, I have checked the reports of distinction section and both of these appear ok.
Cheers!
Seriously, Ibis in Europe is a cracker box, and they want 100 Euros a night in DXB. Crazy. same hotel anywhere else is 49 Euros/night, fixed price.
I know that the hotel racket in DXB is shameful, but this is too much.
Doggus, I actually feel sorry for you.
Sporadic,
FYI, Ibis hotels are not ''49 Euros anywhere else'' - ones I have stayed at in Europe recently are more like 70 euros (and that's the weekend special rate).
The rate I've been quoted for the one in Dubai is not 100 euros more like 90 (and that's including 20% taxes which are not part of the hotels pricing strategies) so please get your facts right particularly if your preference is to submit posts in the style of an arrogant smartarse.
You are welcome.
Its more fun!

Here are some facts from the Internet, not 70 Euros.
http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/gb/ibi/1441/fiche_hotel.shtml
Shows weekend rate in Germany of exactly 49 euros.
Besides that, If I read the post, rather than half read it then jump in and flame people then you would notice there is another interpretation of what was written.
i.e. It could read that hotels of that style are 49 Euros. In fact the Etap range are about 33 Euros for a "cracker bx" - a bit larger than that actually.
Now THATS what I call being an arrogant smartarse!

This sort of response to a Forum regular who always assists new mongers, is not going to help your cause.
I've worked with Accor before and i can assure you Sporadic is correct. Plus, he was merely comparing the ridiculous prices in Dubai (and they do go around 100 Eur subject to time of year), so why are you so defensive?
RTFF is all I will say to you.
Folks,
hope I can assist you here, because you all are right to some degree.
While ? 49,00 is a prevailing rate, all (and I mean all) hotels run specific yield management, i. e. they aim to optimise revenue. This might be the reason why Ibis Dubai is always above standard rate and you will find some hotels in Europe even going down to ? 29,00 at certain days and time of the year.
In respect to Dubai Ibis, I stayed there myself, I shall wish to advise about the Novotel WTC at Dubai. Difference is just around DHS 40 to DHS 50 and spacier and even easier for the girls. Plus (swimming) pool, thus better value for money.
My Ibis room was so small, I really had a problem to open my (big Delsay) bag.
Both hotels do not cause any problem with female visitors.
Greetings and stay calm,
Tom

Even at a 6% "hit" rate for informative posts, Sporadic still ahead of Mr. Doggus.
Not a smartass, just a bit of statistical analysis.
Sporadic: Too bad, a customer complaint. Hope Mr. Jackson does not dock your salary...
I guess Doggus was not in a very good mood.
To clarify, and I do stand by the typical 49 Euro price for Ibis in Europe, is that price gouging is still the norm in DXB.
I also wish you a very pleasant stay in Dubai, at whatever hotel you choose to stay in. With your friendly, open attitude, I am certain you will enjoy yourself.
And let me correct one more thing, I used to feel sorry for you. Oh, and you are also welcome.
Planning to visit dubai in the first week of November and would like to know if there are any GF hotels in bur dubai area.
AMOF I am looking for something reasoable and I am not looking for 4 or 5 stars, just a normal place near action.
Any update on Sheraton 4 points ? they are still GF?
I appreciate your help and concern in advance.

OMG I am concerned at what will happen here!
Red ref the apartment - you need to be on PM this is the only way and it means you have to pay the subscription. Jackson deserves it for the best site in the known universe and if you cannot afford the 20 bucks you definately cannot afford to rent my place or stay in dxb. pay the man!
Staying here in December, got a suite for 950Dhs and a twin for 650Dhs / night including breakfast. Its by the Clock Tower roundabout in Diera a taxi ride from the attractions.
Photocopies of ID required at the desk for your personal nurse for the evening, no other limitations on numbers or timing.
I guess that makes it an Amber instead of Green in the GF traffic light system?

I guess that makes it an Amber instead of Green in the GF traffic light system?
It still qualifies to be put down as green. Would have been amber if you have to shell out extra for taking guests to the room. Asking for ID and accepting photocopies is the standard norm. 950 for the suite is a bit steep but I hope you will put it good use. Well I did. My score for two nights there was six birds, two in tandems and two solo.
I checked with the Radisson front desk when I was there last night. Rack rate is 1200, but a room can be had for 575. Brand new hotel, and some expensive WG action in the rooftop bar. (Mainly non-WGs there, but it looked like an easy pick-up place). Lots of drinking expat girls from early 20s to early 30s. As for GF status of the hotel - someone will have to find out the hard way!
