I think spark hotel is a better options, it is a better hotel more expensive is across the st from the Lopasari plaza and walking distance to the hotel travel and Katrika and other massage place.
The Melawai hotel is a dump cheaper hotel near blok M and many KTV in the area and the famous 6th massage place, I check it out last month girl quality is not as good as the hotel travel and is more expensive.

Please note that there are two Melawai hotels, Melawai I and Melawai II.
Melawai I is where the famous Maribaya Spa is located (6th Floor) and yes this hotel is getting a little run-down. Melawai II is located directly across the street and is a bit nicer; last time I checked, you could get a room here for under 400,000 rupiah per night, of course prices are always subject to change.
Hotel Melawi; Really bad. Hey MSpearman!...How are you? I had the opportunity to stay at the 'better' HM and it was really bad. I would not recommend, at all.
But it's like apples and oranges. HM is is south JKT and is not very nice; both of them. Sparks is a designer hotel that is truly awesome – and is not that expensive – Plus it's located in N JKT, which is night and day difference form S JKT. Not as many bules and just a totally different atmosphere.
If you feel more comy with foreigners around, stay in S JKT.
The best way to go N to S and versa visa is to take the bus. They have their on lane and it takes half the time during the day. I can't think of too many worst things than being stuck in a JKT traffic jam! Take the bus! and it's a great way to meet girls.

The problem with the busway system is always pack and many pick pocket, run until 10pm with the taxi so cheap why pack yourself with a bunch of local.

I agree with Artisto Art. Not only will you be very near to where the action is, but if you like Chinese food, than north Jakarta it must be.

Some of us quite like the "local", that's why we're here (I've scored three or four times on the Busway, the "local" are quite nice people you know).
Try taking a taxi from Blok M to Kota between 12 noon and 8pm, then compare your time with the Busway, I guarantee you the Busway will be at least three times as fast.
Hello guys,
New at the forum, hopefully be able to out my dues in takes some pictures and names for the forum. Anyways I am going to Jakarta soon and I am actually staying either at the Sheraton or the Ascot apartments. I brought some girls (though fairly modestly) with me in the past but since I am a young guy (23) the might have thought those where just girlfriends (I mostly like working girls because I do not like the hassle of getting into the personal stuff, had an ex girlfriend straight from hell and really not into the drama or commitment).
Anyways are 5 star hotels in Jakarta generally non judgmental when it comes to girls. Do I need to buy a long raincoat to cover them up to keep the complaints at a minimum.
And if so where are the hotels where I could take some girls. Are there by the hour/part of the day places that arent completely and utterly toxic.
Sorry for posting such in such a mmm virgen like manner but I would really appriciate some help.

.....to both welcome you and encourage you to RTFF. I believe you would have got your answer by RTFF quicker than it took to type your question.
Good luck

I've never used KAHA before but I see that it provides decent rates for places like Ambhara and Park Lane.
Does anyone know if KAHA also acts as an agency for 4-5 star hotels like Hyatt and Nikko?
If so, how much would I be able to save by using KAHA? (Sites like Asiarooms are offering rooms at USD100~150)
Thanks

These are questions that have been asked so many times that it would have been easy to find just by reading this thread! Anyway for the record: Kaha and Indotel do provide very good rates for almost all the hotels in Jakarta. Indotel do give an indicative rate on their website and KAHA will generally be slightly cheaper. Take your pick.

I consider the Sheraton Media my home away from home when I stay in Jakarta. The staff there is superb (especially if you stay on the club floor) and completely girl friendly. When I was there last week, one of the staff members quietly commented on the quality of one of my take-homes. They are cool. The rooms here are worn down, but the proximity to Kota venues makes this location my preferred choice.
If you frequent Starwood Hotels, you can also try the Le Meridien. Better rooms by far and super girl friendly. Enjoy Jakarta, AsianRain
I looked at a number of agencies when I was in Jakarta in the spring. I didn't find Hyatt discounted at all. I wanted to check it out, and ended up paying $150++. You can find some hotels, like the IC at a bit of a discount. I'd guess there might be a sale on some hotels, after the bombing, though.
Stayed at the Mercure in Kota- thought I would post an update since it's a popular monger hotel.
Pros-
- $40 a night room rate
- no hassles bringing girls back to the hotel.
- close proximity to all the Kota attractions- Lokasari Plaza, Hotel Travel, Kartika, etc.
- nice pool and a decent massage at the spa.
Cons-
- major construction going on now- they are adding two new elevators, and meanwhile everyone has to share the two existing lifts.
BTW, speaking of Hotel Travel, has anyone stayed there? Looks like a legit business hotel, and would be a convenient place to stay...
Friendly
Yes, it's a recommended hotel for monger, A four star (if I am not mistaken) hotel with competitive price and many people were satisfied with its service. Hotel Travel is a two star hotel with "plus-plus" facility...I meant inside this hotel has the biggest prostitute place in JKT.
Cheers...
