Making it legal will also entail it a 'service' status meaning an additional income source for the government. Makes good business sense especially when the we have a burgeoning fiscal deficit and expected to increase even further with the so called 'fiscal bailout packages'!

Just so, one has to pay a VAT on such services in Amsterdam and Germany where it is legal. Imagine if amongst the 1bil population in India, half are men = 500mil, out of which only 5% use such 'services' in the entire year = 25mil. The average cost of such 'services' being Rs 2000. The service tax (10.3% basic + 2% Cess) revenue would be Rs 5.2 bil or Rs 520 crores per annum!!!

I hope Montek Singh or someone from his planning commission team is part of this forum and see's this tremendous opportunity.

I visited khopoli, paid the guy the lodge fees rs. 200/- and went inside this lodge, lodhge appears nice from outside but its very horrible inside. Stinking clogged toilets fans not working. And horrible beds.

But the tax model is scalable. Imagine if even 3-5% of world travellers come to India to use these services the humungous proportion of forex as well as tax payments!

Considering our abysmal track record in implementing simple Income Tax regulations, taxing these 'services' will be a very difficult. I had asked this question a few days ago as well. Can anyone suggest me some classy places to hunt (read pick-up) semi/pros in Pune? Cost may not be a barrier. Have a couple of firangi friends coming for a weekend break. Don't think they will be interested in a dance bar.

I have been told that the bars/ lounges at the 5* hotels in Mumbai are a good haunt, especially JW Marriot and The Oberoi. But things have gotten very difficult after 26/11. Any such chances in Pune? We are planning to checkout places like Casabella at Taj bluediamond.

The Casa Bella at the Blue Diamond does not even see serious drinkers these days. I would not recommend that at all. Based on the advice, called up a mp add in times who spared me the trouble of asking the details by saying it wud cost 2-3K for couple of hours. Went over to this place on the aundh rd towards khadki. Went over to the place which is not good/clean at all; wud have been better in a hotel. This place is one of those parlors. Mamasan took 500 advance and showed the lineup of 6 girls. Picked gudiya who the mamasan said is very good. Negotiated for 2. 5K for 2 hrs; mamasan showed me a single bed and a separate room with dbl bed and asked me to pick one. Picked the dbl bed and paid 500 for the same. Paid 50 for the rubber.

Moving on from my first not-so-good exp, browsed through one of the escorts sites and called the number hoping for a Hi-fi. Interesting to read your two Pune experiences. The MP session was definitely below par, so I wonder if it was just a YMMV issue. If you go there earlier in the day the women you get to choose from may be better overall for the quality of service, with you being probably her first one for the day. I've been to this place near the Ganpati temple in Khadki. I tried more than couple of times with assurances from the lady of a better time and girl next time which never happened whilst her charges kept on increasing. So stopped going to that place. I hope you have a better experience if you go there again.

According to my contacts the ownership has changed and the quality has gone down very significantly. Therefore I would not recommend for any of us to give them any of our money.
