1. Acai can turn your shit an abnormal color. Don't panic, it need not be intestinal bleeding.

2. Rio is a good place to visit and recharge but to live there, I am not sure.

3. A lot of normal Brazilian girls look far better than the overly made-up girls back home. May be it's because they smile more often.

4. Drivers in a bus with a female conductor seem to drive sanely, at least to me. Of course, someone else might still hit the bus.

5. Get to the termas early.

6. Use the Metro, save money and meet crazy old people who talk to you when all you do is smile back. Didn't take a single taxi ride this time.

7. 3G on TIM was great.

8. More Asian faces this time (saw one in 4x4) and some Indians too (seen on the morning beach run to Leme a couple of times, wonder when I will see one in a termas)

9. The city seems safer than last year.

10. Carry enough cash for a session and taxi fare into the city, in case the ATM doesn't give you money. That way, you will still have fun instead of raging at the bank for blocking your card on your first night in.

Just avoid the onion rings. They are greasy and missing an ingredient (my guess is the buttermilk). Speaking of, my onion rings were a big hit! Had to resort to adding lemon to regular milk to create a buttermilk substitute.

As for termas discounts, you might want to do a forum search on Monte Carlo, L'uomo, Solarium. 4x4 and Centaurus (just kidding). The discounted entrance e-mails from Monte Carlo always have been a problem. I just edit old ones for the ever increasing entrance fee and print as needed.

MC. You can find all kinds of specials online that will lower the entrada. Also if you register (fingertip scan) there, every time you spend I think more than R$400 they give you a free entrada.

Don't freak about the fingertip scan. They only associate it with whatever name you give them. Like Kenny Motherfucking Powers.

The entrance fee BR50, but it is waived if you take a girl before 5:00pm. The rates for the girl are BR200 for 40 minutes and BR220 for 1 Hour, the much better deal and up. The Super Suites and other fancy room rates are much higher. I agree about the vodka and "Wed Bull", BS that some of the hardened GP's tend to pull upon the newbies and inexperienced mongers.
