But gas prices were stable and inflation was under control under Trump presidency. It didn't start to turn until Biden first day of office and his first executive actions that killed pipelines and drilling. Then he botched Afghanistan and the world saw that he was weak and incompetent. Biden reducing domestic energy and buying from countries like Iran and Russia further showed the world that he was not only weak but plain stupid. OPEC took advantage of it and raised prices. Russia took advantage of it and invaded Ukraine. Iran took advantage of it and fired missiles at USA consulate. Biden and the USA have lost the respect of several countries and allies. Biden is to blame. Everyone told you so before the election and they were right. Even the experts did not think Biden would be this bad. You keep saying Trump was one term like it is a bad thing. Do you really think Biden that is 10 times worse that Trump could get a second term?

When I go down to Newport St in Ocean Beach I see a half dozen electric cars but I see about 100 gas cars too. I would be surprised if electric cars are 5% of the cars on our highways. Most of the houses in this area are older houses. Most do not have a garage and most people park on the street if they live within8 blocks of the beach. Virtually none of the houses in the area have 220 power. So they can't use a fast charger to charge their electric car. With 110 power it takes about 12 hours to get battery charged to 80%. If you just drive to work and are gone 10 hours it may work fine for you. But most people don't even get the same parking spot every night. There are several apartment buildings and I doubt they are going to go to the expense of putting in charging stations and they would have to charge for that. If you look at the cars in our neighborhood a lot of the cars are 10-15 years old and in great condition. People don't have the money to buy electric cars at the prices they are. And in California we have planned rolling blackouts sometimes so if you don't have power you won't be able to get to work the next day. I'm our area we are fortunate and we have stable power but the electric grid in California is very old and goes down a lot. Their is no storage for any electric power for wind or solar yet so very unstable if we increase power usage even 10% let alone 100%.

As for oil companies not wanting to drill I don't believe that. Several oil companies have petitioned Biden and the White House to let them drill. They are petitioning for more drilling and more pipelines. They ask Biden why he is begging Saudi and OPEC for oil when they can solve the energy crisis in USA. And employ thousands of people in USA instead of employing thousands of people in countries that hate us. Why is Biden supporting other countries economies and not supporting the economy of USA?

Do you also know if you order a new Tesla in California it is a 6-9 month delivery? Electric cars are not the answer today. Gas cars will be for the next 5 decades. Don't punish the middle class and low income because they can't afford an electric car.

They now can (in a single day) install / equip a house with a wall of batteries that can keep it powered for three days. And the technology is only getting better.

If the utility goes down, soon your electric vehicle may soon be an alternate way of delivering electric power.

New batteries supplement and add to existing capacity.

Solar and wind enjoy that same principal that new supply supplements and adds to existing capacity.

The future, for those who want to see it, has less shortages.

There may be a some lonely shack of a home out in the bush that has not changed ownership in 60 years that still has a 30 A entry box, but I'm certain that more than 99% of the houses, even old shacks, have at least 60 A /240 V service. That is because all the transformers on the street are all 240 V. For sure, if the house has changed ownership in the last 50 years, it has 240 V service. They may not think they have 240 V, but they do. It's somewhat likely that they don't have the current to support fast charging, but they do have the voltage.

Where you are flat out lying is about the power capacity of older residential properties.

I lived in a rental garage apartment in a single regular lot on Balboa Island that had a larger 3 bedroom home on the front half of the lot on Coral Avenue.

Both units were built in the 1940's, making it one of the older houses when I lived there during college in the 1970's and 1980's.

The clothes dryer was in the garage below my unit, and used 220. Same for the neighbors.

If 220 power had not been the norm when the house was first built, it would have been easy to upgrade the neighborhood in the 1950's or 1960's because all the electric power was delivered above ground on telephone poles. Rural areas might not get regular upgrades, but city utilities in America get upgrades.

I don't know if their market share is 75% or 25% of worldwide electric cars.

But I do know that in 2021 they built 936,222 electric cars, an 87% increase from the prior year.

I don't believe Tesla will ever make cars that are affordable worldwide, that will be accomplished by many of the thousands of currently existing manufacturers using current advancements in technology. Sub $2,000 electric vehicles will be a reality soon enough.

With adequate demand for the industry's product, 87% future growth seems possible (especially with non-tesla cheapies).

In China they are up to 5%. They have less oil and they are smart enough to know that electric vehicles make them much less strategically sensitive to oil politics.

Increasing oil supply is not the optimum answer as in my lifetime I have been through 4 major cycles in oil supply / price.

Oil companies are not asking Biden anything, they have made corporate decisions not to overcommit to increased drilling. You guys repeat Biden being anti oil incessantly but you just can't present any actual facts on the matter. Biden's approval of permits is 35% higher than Trumps. There is 2 million barrels of spare pipeline capacity so it is not a limiting factor. The factors are banks and financiers lost their shirts when the oil price crashed 2 years ago and their is much more caution for lending to drill. Many investors lost their shirts with bankruptcies during the big oil crash and those that remain have been recapitalizing rather than rushing out to speculate by increasing drilling. There is a general labour shortage that none of you recognize because the labour market hasn't grown due to no immigration and a lot of early retirements. I guess Ukrainian refugees can help with the labour market as they are white and no one has a problem with that.

There are definitely supply issues preventing the ramp up of supply of electric vehicle but this is the longer term solution and should be the focus along with increased supply of renewable energy. EV batteries will benefit the grid. I won't repeat myself, scroll down and read my previous comments. The grid issues are peak demand not supply. For at least 17 hrs a day the grid runs at 60-80% capacity. Batteries are replacing peaker plants as they allow higher utilization of generating capacity throughout the day whilst covering peak demand making the grid more efficient. EV batteries can significantly add to that.

EVs need charging once or twice a week. The power cost is minimal. You don't need to plug in each day so the charging infrastructure can be incrementally added and not some huge up front cost as you make out and cars can rotate through them.

Evs will be the future. There will be legacy ICE cars but at some point they will be deemed to be unfit for road use and the fueling and supply infrastructure will be dismantled.

I blame Trump for the Covid Pandemic. It could just as well have been some other deadly virus originating from some other source. The critical factor in whether or not this one or that one develops into a Pandemic is worldwide leadership response to it. And on that count a cowardly, lying, astonishingly stupid and ignorant con man like Trump as the POTUS was made-to-order to accomplish that at the worst possible time.

But it wasn't only his disastrous response to the intel he had gotten about Covid that contributed more than anything else from any other person on the planet to developing it into the Pandemic it became. He had defunded and removed every single one of the Pandemic Prevention and Response team members from the labs and areas in China where these kind of virulent and highly infectious viruses were known to emerge in 2018, against all expert advice not to do something so dangerous and stupid.
