There are some places you shouldn't be messing around, be it Thailand or anywhere else.
At Samui I only found one place like this, but surely once I finished my beer never went back.
Agressive arseholes like these deserve what they get. Hope he had some travel insurance to get his teeth fixed up
I'll be arriving in Bangkok in 31 days (can't wait). I'll obviously have plenty of fun in the bars, but I was wondering if anyone has had any success arranging "dates" with GTGs on the internet?
She's screaming "enough, enough".
Same, Same! Point is, she was speaking Thai not Tagalog!
Deserve it or not, bad behavior regardless of the reason. Surely he had too much to drink. Maybe he wanted his Barfine back? Definitely Thai, one voice was saying La-gone, which is leaving might even mean out?
Was the guy saying who wants some or bring it on and then.... he got sucker punched? and did the guy run away after that?
...and then.... he got sucker punched? and did the guy run away after that?...
Yes, he got sucker punched; then kicked full in the face on his way to the floor; and finally kicked visciously twice in the head while he was down and out.
And yes, the little coward who cold cocked him ran away.
Not a very fair fight IMHO. This is why I try to keep a low profile in the LOS.

The guy was arguing about a drink he said he paid for and never got. Expensive drink (that he still didn't get.)
Raising your voice to Thais never amounts to anything good.
There are reports how we all manage to get a freebie and have great sex with her but here is a story from last week of "Freebie gone bad".
Alcohol and TG not always good combination. This girl in not a WG - different standard - sometimes applicable to TGs who occasionally freelance.
I didn't say anything after that. A minute later she gets up and says: what are you doing!. why are you doing this to me, I thought you were a nice guy. I dont like it when a man controls me.
Oh not the silent treatment - they can be passive aggressive with you, but the other way round .... not on.
Then she goes on repeats the same stuff and says, "Why did you grab my hair, I dont want a man to control me". Grab her hair!!! I do that all the time playfully with a girl. Apparently the hair grab ticked her off for some reason. It was about 10pm now, she got dressed and left.
So the hair is special (sometimes) - ask permission to touch hair, to kiss etc. In response, TGs usually sort of pout at you, you a short rock of the head from side to side and say: Yeeess! They feel like they are in control, I think.
Yheesh! what a turn of events. I SMSed her right after; said sorry twice. She replied and said: I want to forget about and and I think you were really drunk, so its ok.
She gives you the chance not to lose face, saves face herself. Being drunk is not cool in the LOS.

His behaviour was uncouth and uncivil, but the response was inappropriate; no, thats a mild word, it was Barbaric. This shows that these folks take strength in numbers, and gain courage from. Were he alone, the Thai would not have dared it. There runs a streak of cowardice and hysteria amongst the Thais.
I do not expect many to agree, but I see some animosity amongst these people towards farangs. They may be earning a good livelihood, in manners diverse, from the farang tourists. Their ways of earning that kind of money is perverted and they hate the farangs for that. An important reason would be seeing their women being used in the rampant sex industry, mutual consent notwithstanding.
I don't want to sound prophetic or ominous, but over years to come you are bound to see some serious changes in attitude amongst the Thais, and especially towards sexual adventurism.
I would be keen to hear the opinions of guys who have spent many years in these parts.

What kind of serious change? How many years is in "over years to come?"

Its great that women have a means of making ends meet through selling sex. Otherwise they would be very poor and many are. Sex industry is also for Thai men if they can afford it.
Old guys get to experience young hot girls that they never would have had in a more puritanical place.
Plenty of Thai girls reach orgasm showing that they can enjoy their work too, even if not all the time.

Things change suprisingly little over 15 years other than the price.

Well I have spent many years so, and I can tell you, the Thais who matter - middle class and above, couldn't care less what dark-skinned Isaan girls do. They are so far below them in the social scale they simply don't identify with them at all. Which is really why the whole for-farang sex industry has been allowed to develop. They're basically renting us what they consider to be their livestock. It would be as if a foreign element were coming to the USA to fuck black women - do you really think that the dominant group would feel someone were 'stealing their women'. No.
Of course Thai men have their own type of prostitutes, but they tend to be totally different from ours - they like a totally different type. Most are from the North or homegrown (central Thai), and they tend to cost much more than ours do. They have very light skin, look demure, are very young, and provide no service. The typical Thai middle class man would find our girls unbearable crass and low, and no amount of pornographic service would make up for this. He fantasizes about forcibly deflowering a 'good' girl from a decent background, or a reasonable facsimile thereof. What we do in Pattaya is seen as not unlike smearing ourselves with shit by the middle class Thai.
However they do feel embarrassed that Pattaya exists, and it is most definitely under threat. If the poors from Isaan all went to Sihanoukville to make money draining farangs, Thais wouldn't be nearly so embarrassed about it, I suspect.
As for what ordinary working-class Isaan men feel about it I couldn't say, as I have never known any of those.
Jackson,
That video was posted over 3 months ago, and discussed in detail, so why is it allowed back again with all its related discussion ?
We now have people asking opinions about Thailand.
Can all this "rubbish" be moved off the Bangkok reports thread, and into the "Expat Section" where they can discuss Thai's and Thai's Girls and Politics and Opinions and Fighting and everything else they want, and not clog up the threads over here.
I do not expect many to agree, but I see some animosity amongst these people towards farangs.
Gee, ya think? (I was going to say a whole bunch of sarcastic stuff here, but I'll spare you this time.)
Since Thaksin Shinawatra took office as Prime Minister of Thailand some years ago, the name of the game has been xenophobia towards farangs. (Thaksin lived in America, and knows what happens when you have equalization of the masses. He was not amused.) It did NOT used to be that way.
It is indeed getting worse, much worse, and many old fart Thai guys I know don't know what to make of it. But, the reality of it all is based on keeping the poor people 'dick in the dirt' poor, and the rich riding in chauffeur driven Mercedes limos and fortified with princely sized bank accounts. Middle class Thailand is not real Thailand! (Pure Thaksin) Well now: Farangs do not like this idea at all, of course, and represent a strong opposing force to it. Ta Da! Presto! Simple as manufacturing a low class form of xenophobia based on strong ideas created by a corrupt Prime Minister for his supporting public. It is now nationwide.
I could go on and on about this, but it won't do anyone here any good. Just understand that it is now a part of life for Thais to have an underlayment of disregard and contempt of farangs. However, yes, this is just a very basic understanding of the "why", but it did essentially start with Thaksin Shinawatra.
Again, it did NOT used to be like this. Not even remotely. The Supreme Monarch of Thailand is an American, he has a US passport, and he speaks English perfectly with an mild Boston American accent. He loves America & Europe (and all of the west.) He is not the one controlling the country any more. You do the math.
