Do you think that you are going to impress anyone with your one bedroom apartment at 9000 baht / month? This might be not bad in Phuket (depending on the location, area, etc.) , but it's quite easy to find one bedroom apartments in Pattaya for about 6000 baht / month (and even cheaper). And freebies can be had everywhere. But of course, Phuket is a much nicer place IMHO.

I really enjoy many places in Thailand, all of them having their pros and cons. I regularly stay in Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Bangkok (etc.) too, and not only in Pattaya. I just gave my humble (and unbiased, I believe) opinion about what I have observed, so, there is no need to be upset. You seem to enjoy being in Phuket, and that's great. As I said, I have no doubt that you can get some very good deals there, but on average, Pattaya is cheaper (but once again, Phuket is a more pleasant location).

It's not a big deal, frankly. You write your report (including smilies), you select all (CTRL+A), you copy it in the clipboard (CTRL+C), and submit it. Then, you immediately edit your post by simply selecting all (CTRL+A) and then, pasting your original report (CTRL+V) and saving it. It will then appear like you wanted it to (it also prevents other unwanted automated "corrections", not only the smilies' disappearance).
