It seems there is the good and bad in Tijuana. Either one you have to exercise safety both in the rooms and on the streets. I've been lucky since I normally travel with a buddy or group but even that doesn't guarantee 100% safety. I have a few times traveled there alone but I just go straight to the zone and stay in that area only. So far I've been lucky. But I agree, I Never compare Tijuana with a US safety. With Police corruption, it adds the danger even more. Remember keep your wits up at all times no matter what country your in.

I tell the guy that and he says ok and walks away. I look down and he had dropped a small bag of what looked like cocaine next to me. Been there and done that in the 1980's / 90's. Well past that stage so I call him back and basically tell him to get the shit away from me. By now all my instincts are crying "get out of here." He becomes involved in a heated conversation with the bar keeper who knew me, and I assume the guy was asking this waiter what the hell he was thinking. I see the waiter get on the phone, and about ten minutes later in comes the craziest woman I have ever seen, with a pimp that looked like he had just finished ten years hard time in a Mexican prison. Bald, tatted up head to toe, gang signs all over him. Bad dude. They come right to me and this girl, who looks whacked on meth or coke, says "you want to fuck me?" I know at this moment I need to go, and every sense I have is saying "danger." I knew if I rejected her out right she would go off. The whole time her pimp is burning into me with his eyes. I tell this girl "you are very beautiful, but I am married." Sure enough she goes defensive and starts shouting "you say I ugly?" I'm thinking "ok, how you going to get out of here."

I look at the bathroom and see two guys go in, so I get up and go in with them. I stand at a urinal with my face point at an old stainless steel paper towel dispenser and I see the pimp's reflection as he came in and stationed behind me in a corner. I'm about to get rolled and I know it. He is just locked in on me and my back. The guy next to me turns and starts to walk out, so I positioned myself so he was between me and the pimp, and shaodw him out the restroom door. I bolted! There was a cab right out front and as I jumped in I see the pimp run for the door. I made it. No doubt that waiter set me up. At that time they were kidnapping Americans and holding them, so either I was going down or they were going to rob me.

My point is this; stay around the clubs where there are allot of people, never get isolated by yourself because they are watching your every move, and don't get pulled away from that zone and everything will be fine. I'm telling you, I lived there for three years. I know their games, I know when I'm being watched, I know it. I was just in Mexico a couple of days ago. I learned to watch their eyes. The wolves will scan your pant pockets, your valuables, if your cellphone comes out they will lock right on it. They are studying you. I got so wise I broke up a purse snatching on my wife once as I watched the guy find us as soon as we crossed the border. His eyes went right to her purse and I knew game on. He fell in behind us and started pacing. I whispred to her "su bolsa" which means "your bag." I suddenly stopped walking and the guy smacked right into me. I looked at him and said one word "no." He knew I knew and he disappeared. By the way; keep all your cash crotched. Hide your passport in your room and only carry your state I'd in the streets.

I saw some crazy shit in my three years down there man. Crazy. I partied with my wife's stripper friends from Aguas Caliente to Cancun, all over Sonora, and Baja California. I literally quit working in the states and my wife supported me those three years. I would hang at the hotel or go to other clubs while she stripped. The girls down there move in a circuit as they follow major events across Mexico, so I made that circuit for three years until we married and she came to the states. Once she got here, five years ago, no more stripping and she has worked as a waitress in a restaraunt and become a model wife.

I met CBP officers who made hundreds of thousands letting cars cross loaded down with "contraband" and partied at their seaside houses in San Felipe, basically everything you can imagine. I have been to orgies with strippers where that same CBP dude had literally a table in a backroom of his home stacked with cocaine, ectasy, any drug you wanted was there. My wife and I are clean except for booze, but those girls would line up at that table and then clothes were off and the sex was on. My wife, as mentioned before in previous posts, finds that stuff appalling. She had a set of standards as a stripper and never left them. I do not know if he was just a harmless vagrant that was going to ask me for some change and they were basically telling him to get away or if he was a carterista or a ratero and the Adelitas guard was able to recognize that so he stopped him from doing anything. By the way they ran him off a short time later. Africa is safest but last time I was in there not many girls and a really traditional Mexican clientele.

How old are you? Seriously. I'm always interested when I read stories of a Captain Save-a-ho and his tragic love affair with a lady of the night. What was the guy's age, the age of the girl, what did they both expect of the relationship, etc.

I've come close to falling head over heels with a working girl. It's easier than many guys think. I still have faves in Tijuana, and probably always will. But marriage or LTR material? You really need to step back and rethink this.

Let me give an alternate view. I am 54. I have an extremely serious thing going with a girl who just turned 40, but can easily pass for early 30s. I won't get too specific, but she's from a country where the girls are noted for being hookers, and not the Philippines. She's tiny, pretty, a great rack. She's got a degree, a good salary, she's the manager of a department of a rather large IT company. She's never even seen the inside of a naughty bar. She owns her own house and car, and, for good measure, is almost insatiable in the sack. The point is, I spent about as much time, and far less money, developing this one as any bar girl. And the results have been far better than any Bar Girl relationship I've ever had.

Lest you say this is a one-off, let me tell you that, much like the song, I had to "make up my mind." I had several others to choose from, including a cute teacher, a well to do accounting department manager and a marketing executive for a well-known multi-national publishing company. All were self-sufficient, had good jobs, educated, etc, etc.

On a side note, I finally did the car rental thing. I forget who it was that mentioned how bad the streets are over there but they weren't kidding. Many times you can't see the lanes and traffic laws are just suggestions. Roads over there are confusing as hell. And no, I never got pulled over but I did see a few other people get pulled over. It's actually scary because every time I saw a police car I felt like they where going to stop me just to shake me down knowing I'm a tourist in a rented car. I guess it's just monger mentality why I fear police more than anything else in Tijuana.
