Guys,
I need some advice. After reading this forum I listed on DIA and got quite a few girls that I worked up to where we have some cybersex. One wants me to but her a webcam for 500P. What do you think? Is it a scam.
Another is in a small town south of davao and wants to come up to manila when I am next there on business and fuck my brains out. Sounds good. But how should I pay for her ticket up there? She seems genuine but that is why I am asking you guys for advice.

You should be looking much closer to Manila. That way a girl can come there from out of town on her peso (she'll take a jeepney or a bus) and you can reimburse her for the fare coming to Manila and getting back home. If she turns out to be less than ideal for whatever reason, at least you didn't spend airfare on her.

500 pesos is about $12. Not much of a scam so it's probably a genuine attempt to get to know you much better. If she looks good in the still photos you've seen, go for it.
Personally, I wouldn't pay No. 2 to come and visit me in Manila. If she looks that good that you're tempted to spend an airfare, rather get yourself down to Davao and see her on her home turf. That way if it doesn't work out you can give her her marching orders. And if it does work out, well.. have fun!

A decent web cam will cost you about 800php here. She's not scamming you.

Duke[/QUOTE]If you have done the talk, then I recommend that you fly her to Mla so that she is on your turf, decide where YOU want to eat, travel etc. You can send her back if things do not work out. You will have no distractions (her friends, relatives. All seeking a free feed etc). On her turf, it can be hazardous. Believe me I have had some xperience.

Most ladies can walk into a net cafe ...and for 10 - 30 pesos an hour chat with you on cam. I can't think of any reason to buy a cam, but if these guys recommending it have any reason to do so, hope they can provide some examples. (Steady gal, has pc at home, get naked once in a while???)
I, for one, will not call it a scam. She asked you for something and you have to decide whether to give it or not. As others have already explained, it's a small investment.
If you met her face to face and really like her, go for it.
I know I wouldn't.

agreed, but $12 is hardly a big time scam, unless of course she has hundreds of guys all sending her the webcam money?
imho the scammers always go for around the 2-3000 pesos in the beginning, often for school or sick relatives etc etc. then they up the stakes to around 5000 if you are gullible enough :(
rleatively speeaking, the 500 pesos she has asked for, is less than a lady drink in joules on burgos - now that bar is a scam !!

50 is absolutley right on some of his points, but joules is a bar and the prices are well known, so it is an expensive bar, but not a scam. more and more, it seems that expensive = scam...but i'm not sure i'm willing to accept that interpretation at this point.
back to filipinas in chat... humans are intelligent and they will learn from you and the others they chat with...
if you are preceived as a desperate guy, they will ask for a ticket to manila. horn dog who want to see titties and they ask for a cam...especially the smart ones who know how to start low.
my advice: send the cam to av

So far out of 15 girls I have chatted with online dating,
1 . 5 of them have asked me outright what they have tp do in order for me to send them money.
2. 3 of them have said they are very poor and do not have any money to eat.
3. 1 has said her father and sister is sick.
4. Rest have not asked for anything yet.
I have asked all of them to come and stay with me . None have refused. Almost all of them have said they do not have bus fare. I told them under no circumstances I will send money. They seem to loose interest right away. The older the girl is more likely she will not ask for money.
Do not send money to these girls for any reason. If you meet them and like them you can make some arrangement to support her. But beware she may be getting support money from other people also. Phi girls have gotten smarter and they know older western people are looking to have fun with them. They know they can get money by preteding to like them. Ultimately she is looking for money , not long lasting relationship for life. What would 20 something girl get out of if she is married to a 50 something or older man?

[/QUOTE]Hi Sammon! Look, more often than not the stories are true BUT until you meet them you don't know as it is all too easy for a scammer to run the same line.
So don't send any money to girls you have never met.
You have to ask yourself do you want to start something with a girl who is in such dire straights to begin with?
Or more likely she has been burned by so many lying westerners who have turned up fucked her & fucked off, that she now comes straight to the point in her online dealings...

This is has been a girl i have come to know over a period of time. But it is a risk you must be prepared to take.

Back in my home country I got to know hundreds of couples in the Filippino Australian community. The vast majority are happily married regardless of our preconceptions of age. Its a mistake to characterise all pinays as liars & cheats. I do agree that extra dose of common sense is needed the bigger the age gap.
I have to laugh at mongers worried about girls cheating on them.. guys you're in the business of cheating on THEM! If they make a little money putting out for more than one guy is that so bad?
I avoid FL's who spread themselves around but that's a health concern for me.
What is the point of your dating site hunting Sammon? You just want a new conquest? You want a nice long term girlfriend? You want a partner for life? Ok in terms of exact definition, (Dishonest method of making money) then Joules is not a true scam.
However IMHO Joules Bar is a total Rip-Off, which is by definition (something not worth what you pay for it)
At the end of the day we pay our money and take our chance(s) or if a true mongerer, vice versa.
I would agree with AV and generally never send money to a girl I havent met. However in this case I would ask her to borrow the 500 from someone to allow her to buy the cam with the promise that, if she does so, then I would send her the cash to pay back her debt and maybe a little extra for the show ;)
On the whole the Pinays are obliging in most ways and it goes back to the idea - Treat em well and they will look after you. After all you may be the only positive thing in her life at the moment...blah ...blah.....blah.
