Cur flights.......
Continental has a direct flight out of Newark -once a week, but for big$$$.
Avianca will take you to CUR through their "hub" in Bogota.
AirJamaica flys to CUR through its "hub" in Montego Bay.
Aeropostal flys to CUR through its "hub" in Caracas.
I've been to all the cities these airlines connect through. If you can find a "net" saver fare from any of these carriers it might be worth adding their "hub" city as a second destination to your trip. ;)
cheers...........

Air Jamaica
Vaginas999,
I just booked with Air Jamaica the other day. Leaving from PHL on May 22 and coming back on the 31. It cost me 527.10 total. It does make a stop in Montego Bay like Ford said. I don't know if that's helpful at all.
-
You can also fly through Dominican Republic and Aruba.
The best I like is through Jamaica. I do not care about price anymore. I better fly Jamaican $200 more expensive then by AA (but they usually have similar price), after AA screwed me twice! Second time was when i paid only $380 for the ticket and regretted that afterwards:-) Big airlines potentially have more problems - long lines, lost luggage, missed connections. In Miami you have to change terminals. And the connection in Miami from Philly is now 2 hours!
If anybody in Cura this week and weekend, PM me.

Observations
The memebers of this forum are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful people I have ever known. Thanks so much for all your help guys. I'm going to Curacao the third week in April, after the chicas have time to return home from Easter.

I agree with Goga. Dealing with AA can be a headache and AirJamaica is a very professional little airline.
I have been very happy with AirJam every time I used them - I just wish they had more route destinations available.
(Plus you get free champagne on every AirJamaica flight. w or w/o orange juice)

Need help on Hotels!
Anyone know how to get a good deal at the Marriott or Hilton for a 2 week stay? Was in Curacao 2 years ago, seems the prices are high now. I'm looking at late May or early June.
Thanks in advance to anyone that knows how.

Prices
I do see the air fare dropping rather significatly with AA in a few weeks and hotels on the Island have deals April 16-28. I do see one problem with staying @ Campo however, you cannot bring a camera to Campo they search you on the way in. So, then if you stay @ Campo you can't bring a camera on vacation becuase you have no hotel room to keep it in while you monger. I guess it could be left in an airport locker for a few hours while you have fun. I just went and spent a lot of money on a digital camera/camcorder just for my visit to Campo.
I personally have read tons of reviews about the various hotel on the Island and everyone is pretty much the same, the Marriot is the best in terms of good value for your slightly overpayed accomidations. I have read many times that the Hilton is moldy and milldewy, I am personally allergic so do not reccomend. The two Howard Johnsons (airport and City) seem to be the least expensive accomidations on the island. I was thinking about just asking some of the locals if I could just sleep on their floor, it leaves more money to monger with. Or maybe you could just sleep on the beach.

Another thing
Why does Dutch owned Curacao have legal prostitution, however no legalized marijuana? I'm not sure I understand why they only adopt some of the values from the mother land. Do they throw you in jail if they catch you smoking a joint on the beach down there?
I wonder if you can get cheaper flight to Amsterdam from Curacao instead of JFk or EWR? Anyone ever taken a flight before from Curacao to Amsterdam?
Another thing, why can't I use the tab key to indent paragraphs in the posting form it just skips me throught the page to the submit button for some reason.

Cheaper Rates
The Marriott is much nicer now, But good rates can be had by calling the Hilton Reservations manager directly. I would recommend calling a few weeks after easter. They are building a new Hyatt on the Island now. This will help bring the Marriott rates in check.

"Fantasy's" advice is good.
Too, even though organized people usually like to have everything planned out before they arrive on an island - Cuaracao has traditionally been a place where the best deals, and prices can be had if you negotiate when you arrive.
It is not unreasonable to assume that you'll be able to work out a price of $30-$40 a night cheaper for a room if you arrive w/o reservations and negotiate them than you would receive in an advance reservation, on Travelocity, Orbitz or a similar site.
enjoy your trip............

Curacao is not owned by the dutch, not anymore. The island has its own legal constitution, and is governed by a local goverment, no dutchman has nothing to say here, The island is part of the dutch kingdom with the queen as head of state.
If you want to fly from Curacao to Amsterdam try Arkefly or Martinair, KLM has expensive fares.
Smoking joint in public is not allowed many do it though, just dont get caught.
Legal prostitution was initialized by the local government and health department sometime after world war 2

Thoughts
Whats with the fear of walking on the Island , do the local authorities really allow gun weilding thugs to rob wealthy tourists. Aren't we their source of income? If the island is only 7 miles wide at the smallest point ( which happens to be the area in between Campo and most of the Hotels) why can't you walk to Campo?
Is Curacao the closest location to the U.S. with legal prostitution? If not which country is the closest or least expensive to travel too. I notice Curacao is expensive to fly to even though distance wise it isn't all that far from Miami. Any idea when that Hyatt will be completed? thanks ahead of time.

Mostly correct..
The Netherlands Antilles is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Full autonomy in internal affairs was granted in 1954, however the Dutch Government remains responsible for defense and foreign affairs.
When a certain "Alabama high school cheerleader" went missing down there - the Netherlands immediately sent the fighter jets and dredging ships across "the pond" to use in the search and rescue mission. It was the nation of the Netherlands that was responsible!
Because of their autonomy and freedom to issue laws internally - the Dutch have no say in what they do internally on the island. Different parliament, different constitution.....so different laws.
(I spent a great deal of time sitting down with a government official when I strongly considered getting my residency there)
Marijuana is strictly prohibited. Drug possession is strictly enforced.
All true!
cheers..........:)
