Maybe señorita is an oblique / discreet way of saying a woman is a virgin, but it is really Miss vs Mrs, unmarried vs married. I can see, in some cultures, if you had private knowledge that a 20 year old had had sex with her boyfriend, you could say (in a whisper) to an acquaintance that, "No es señorita! But you would still address that woman as "señorita" if she worked as a waitress or as a hotel clerk. How do you think you address a young woman if you don't know the status of her hymen? Even with a more mature woman clerk / waitress / whatever, it is acceptable / charming to address her as señorita.

When you walk around don't expect girls to give you the look back. Be proactive, the best one are going to be a little coy, especially when other people are around. Find one you like walk up to her and smile and ask for her WhatsApp number. Everyone is on WhatsApp. If she gives it to you just walk away and text her later and feel her out. Make sure to mention that you pay. This makes it much easier all the way around and you'll thank me when you come back.

If you have the time and put in a little effort, definitely learn at least some conversational spanish. The fact that you can speak a little, but not fluent may make you even cuter to them.

Look up "que hora es dr danny evans" on youtube. My buddy didn't speak a lick of spanish and started to learn the day after we got back in advance of our next trip. He said he learned so much from that youtube series, more than even rosetta stone.

99 times out of a 100, she'd only speak Spanish.

If you do see a doctor though (or med student), there's a near 100 percent chance that they can speak English. It's a requirement for their graduation.

Beyond the basics, you can download the Spanish language pack to your Google Translate app for offline use and it's pretty terrific.

Without that and the iOS translate app, I'd have been dead in the water. It can be a fun game to hand the phone back and forth. And a great opener.

It's funny how Cuba will give free education to the doctorate level, but not teach English in schools. I get the FU to the USA thing, but Spain is the country that turned you into a colony. Maybe the government thinks if they teach English to their citizens they'd be even more likely to want to leave. Regardless, I'd say 1/10 girls know some rudimentary English, but don't count on it. They get it mostly from US music (I was stupefied to learn that one of my favorite young Cubanas had a Queen song on her phone!

BTW, for those used to Mexican Espanol, Cuban is a very different accent. Sometimes I'd say a word perfectly in a Mexican accent, and they wouldn't know WTF I was saying. I'd show them the word or phrase on my phone and they'd burst out laughing. Cubans seem to have this speaking practice, why say in three syllables what you can say in one? Their accent seems to confuse the translate apps too.

When I lived there, if you wanted to learn a language, you had to be cleared by the "higher up," except if you wanted to learn Russian or any other "communist language," something that few wanted to learn.

When it comes to Cuba, nothing is what it seems. Just go, enjoy and don't try to understand it because in order for that to happen, you have to live there as a Cuban!

I will keep his short, bc I plan to do a big report when I leave Cuba. We are having tons of fun in Havana but I hadn't got lucky yet sadly. My friend who speak Spanish been able to walk almost to everyone and talk. If you know Spanish then that goes a long way. He been able to score which is good. The only girls I talked to was on Badoo app. I got a lot of matches. One of the girls wanted 100 usd each. We have something line up for tonight but I'm not hopeful. It doesn't help that my friend doesn't want to pay for sex which is fine. We share a house with a bunch of family members so that also hurts. We leave tomorrow for a different part of Cuba. Hopefully I can score there. I will give an update I'm a few days more than likely, then one big report once I get home. Thanks.

I would like a bit more info on Havana and Cuba in general for prices and getting a holiday girlfriend price too if you have more updated information as I'm having second thoughts about my 2 weeks holiday in October, a friend said that Colombia is actually cheaper, I'm thinking go to Caribbean Colombia instead of Havana to do a cheap hobbyist holidays. I've read 20 min in Colombia in many casas is around 10 bucks and 25 bucks an hour. That's very competitive prices. How about Cuba? How hot they compare to Colombians? Also the quality of service? Are they full GFE?

Cuba is a very difficult place to have a relaxing good time. Water issues, food issues, restaurants without basic food, and on and on and on. To say nothing of living in a place where you are being watched all the time essentially. In Colombia none of that.
