Managed to escape from the wrath of HM by arranging a day trip to HK.

Will be meeting Ms I, an Indonesian lady at about 11am. Met her last week in CWB, but we couldn't do much more than sad and pathetic foosie under the table in a Starbucks. This time will be way better.

i have not seen metropark hotel (wchai) mentioned for a while. a few plusses and minuses:

plusses:

1. convenience, pretty much a stone's throw from the heart of the wanchai action.

2. price is reasonable for hk. about 1, 370 ++ for the larger rooms. i stay in the "spacious" room as they call it.

3. breakfast until 10:30 is decent enough. nothing to write home about but if you wake up it is there for you.

4. no real walk of shame; when you get back to hotel, you angle left up to the stairs to the lift and reception seems to care less who is with you.

5. decent size rooms, although i have never stayed in a standard.

6. gym.

minuses:

1. if you want luxury, stay elsewhere; this is in the 3. 5 to 4 star range.

2. no bathtub if that is what you need.

3, rooms not sparkling in what you would see from a 5 star, but nor is the cost.

4. view of the structure across the street

in sum, a functional, above averge, well situated hotel. internet speeds are also fine on this visit, anyhow

Just moved to TST after a long time working away from HK (In Bangkok, Manila & KL so hardly a tough gig!). Have looked at Mody / Ashley / Hart Roads and seems limited bar action. Any tips?

Similarly, my Sunday tea dance days have been limited. 109 / NM / N2 / N3 would be my guess, but any other recommendations? What about the J Forest Music Bar, any good on Sunday's, or through the week?

J-Forest is the busiest bar on Sunday afternoon / evening. Is OK Sat night, otherwise quiet.

WE don't call them tea parties in HK.

I could follow an interesting incident at NP2 when a couple was going to leave on Friday around midnight. The bouncers asked the guy where he would take the girl who was with him. The guy was pretty pissed off about such a question and he made the point that it wouldn't be the securities' business where their patrons are heading for. As a consequence the bouncers tried to drag the girl bag inside? Security reasoned that it would be company policy and for every bodies security to verify where they go when leaving NP2.

The funny thing was that it turned out that the girl was the guy's wife and the bouncers dropped almost dead since he tried to drag away the guy's wife.

Anyone having any clue what such "policy" is really about and what is the background for it?

Nep2 and Escape have been very cautious about what customers they allow into the bars.

Had a day trip to HK, that turned into a great day.

Sunday night Makati was really full, and a good time. Neptune 2 and Escape had lighter crowds but still both ere fun. It still surprises me that Neptune 2 management lets so many people smoke and out in the open. It is so enjoyable on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon I might stay for two or three hours, but at night it can really stink in there. Advise to management: I can't be the only one who turns around and leaves when the fog is too thick. I ended the night back at Makati, and it was still rocking when I left about 1am.

It's normal to pay for a short term hotel as you go. Book a room for 2hrs and you pay at the beginning. Want to extend. You pay again. And this is important, because if all rooms are full which sometimes happens. They tell people how long they wait. And also people have been known to run out if they don't pay upfront.

I know from my "contacts" who I like to keep and touch with when I'm not there, that there is currently a typhoon in Hong Kong.

As a matter of interest and curiosity, do the WG's and the DH's still go out at night to the bars? Do the bars still do a bit of business as well as the girls?
I know that Monday and Tuedays are traditionally "quieter" nights.

Had to cancel a trip tonight to the Kowloon Shangrila.

Hopefully can go to the airport at lunch time if the signal is down to 3/1.

Extending and paying for the extension isn't normal in my exp. Not normal in Manila, not normal in KL, not normal in BKK, not normal in Shanghai, not normal in Tokyo love hotels either. Anyways no probs, HK was never exactly famous for its hospitality or lack of.

Usually government gives a couple hours advance warning to allow people to get home / shelter before everything is shut down. Once Signal 8 is raised, many ramifications so best to be where one wants to be to wait out the storm. Even WGs batten down the hatches. LOL
