Desperation should ideally be equally at both ends. They can't fill their wallets and we can't empty our sacks.

If carefully approached, prices can probably be reduced. Or worst case scenario at least be the same. Spending capacity of mongers will somewhat reduce. A lot of them will miss their appraisals, hikes, etc. A lot of businessmen will lose more money. A tiny percentage might also lose their jobs (I hope this doesn't happen though). People would want to save a little more to mitigate their past losses.

But then again this is Bangalore, anything can happen.
