I used to stay at casadas but have been staying at Hotel Real Del Rio. Its very nice and very quiete. The area is more upscale than that of the zona. I would recommend this place if you were to stay overnight. Plus, its escort friendly. I did what you did a few times and it just more of a waste of time for me. There is actually a nice pool hall and a very upscale nightclub. If you want to avoid the long lines, park at the Otay Mesa line. The border is 5 miles away from San Ysidro but there is very little waite time. Cost of a cab how ever is $15 but parking is $5 and some times you can find free spots. But if you factor in time and your pay, its a waste and I would rather enjoy staying a night and relaxing. Then take a cab to the zone.
Thank You this is the kind of reply I was waiting. Did you ever stay at the Hacienda de Santiago I think is around the corner from Chicago bar.

Did you ever stay at the Hacienda de Santiago I think is around the corner from Chicago bar.
If safety is your concern, stay away from the zona. Real Del Rio is upscale and the area it is around is very clean and I felt comfortable enough to walk at night there. The billard hall across the street is very nice itself. Its a place to take a date and enjoy a few games and drinks. I prefer to stay at Cascada vs Hacienda. Only reason why I would stay in Casada is when I am mongering like crazy and I need to feed at least on 3 girls or more. But for a relaxing quiet hotel, I prefer Del Rio.
That sounds high usually I pay $4 to $5. Was the yellow or taxi libre?
don't know why its gone up. Maybe new years inflation.
I never like the idea of staying overnight in the zona hotels like the cascades or the coahuila. Besides the noise I don't feel it is a good safe place to sleep, I am aware of federales raid these hotels from time to time and I'm not too crazy about waking up with a pointed barrel of an M15. Good morning senior, pasaporte please! Or asked to go outside in my underwear at 4Am scary shit if you ask me! Anyway you think I'm over reacting and maybe I'm watching too much CNN LOL!
Should I get a room in San Diego and comeback again, then the sentri line is really bad multiply by 2 times?
Have you stay close to the action overnight and what was your experience?
Horny Traveler,
I read your post, read KC Questor's post, and your response to his.
I don't think he was trying to start a flame war on your post or trying to insult your experience. I've met him back in the summer time, quite randomly at HK, he's a cool dude and very well traveled, I think he was genuinely just trying to answer a post from someone who appeared concerned with safety.
As you said in your follow up post, you've been going down many years and are not a newbie, but that info wasn't in your first post, so a person could probalby misunderstand your experience level.
Anyway, to answer your question. I've stayed overnight in the zona hotels many times, simply as a convenience, but I also stay in the Motel6 in San Ysidro and cross back over. It's a matter of convenience for me really. I personally have not felt any threats while staying in the zona. There are also nicer hotels outside the zona that you may find more comfortable and secure, with just a very short cab ride from the zona.
Just my two cents.
Cheers,
Keg
So if you going to have fun in Tijuana and want to avoid lines, here is some advice.
Mon-Thur, get to the US entrance side no later than 3:30 am. Wait is about 30min. 12am. 3am, wait time is 15 min or less. After 10pm. 12am, lines start to fade away 5 min. That means leave the zone no later than 3am.
If you go Fri same holds true as above.
For Sat and leaving Sun morning, leave before 5 am.
If you go to the Otay Mesa, divide the wait time by half.
Don't! And I repeat don't! Fall for the scams that you can pay to jump the line. These guys just brings you to the front and have you cut in. I have fallen for it a few times and learned that I don't need them to jump in line.
If you really want to bypass everyone. Get a Sentry pass.
Guys, guys please pay attention I repeat I AM NOT A NEWBIE, I been in Tijuana a million plus times, and I've been here on this forum before any of you but most senior members are gone from here and you guys never hear of me but no I'm not a newbie I already know all that stuff.
My question was regarding the federales or military coming to the zona and doing raids at the hotels. I only want to know if it continues to happen or is it alright now, that was my question, all the other stuff you're people are telling me I already know it but Thanks anyway.
I don't come here to post often but I've been here reading for many years LOL my very last post I think was in 2010.
My mongering is limited time only not like it used to be, I'm not as lucky as you guys that can hit Tijuana every weekend.
CJ, Blue nose, efjayel jump in and tell these guys haha.

I do make stupid questions from time to time but my doctor told me it is normal!
I don't have the luck most of you guys have to get to Tijuana because I have my distance and personal things, so every time I get the opportunity to go Tijuana I try to get the latest updates from this forum of course, I know Tijuana but you guys are up to date with the latest news LOL! I'm sure things have changed in Tijuana since my last visit on 2010, I read about AB remodeled and now it's open all the way thru the back alley so there are a few new things I wasn't aware.
don't know why its gone up. Maybe new years inflation.
Can't trust the taxi libre, these guys charge whatever they want. The yellows taxi is better. You should ask him how much before you get in not after, it should be no more than $5
LOL you need to feed a least 3 girls or more? Are you doing lines or are you 25 like your name. I admired your energy LOL! Where's del Rio at? I know the mission and the parador is nice too but it's far from the zona and more expensive.
No don't do drugs. Social drinker. Hate gambling money. But LOVE the kitty. That's my vice. I got to get at least 3 a day or I'm just not right. For my personal gift for Christmas, I got 5 girls in 24 hrs. LOL. Not as young as I was but I excercise or used to 2x a day 6 days a week. No, when I was younger I would pop 5x a day. Not as young anymore. LOL. BUt these young girls get my heart going and if I'm going to go, its going to be because I'm getting some kitty. Here is the address to the hotel. 5 min cab ride tp the zone.
Avenida Jose Maria Velazco #1409-A, Zona Rio, Tijuana. 22320 Mexico

I was too drunk and few dollars won't kill me. Going forward I guess I will have to take charge of cab rides.
