it may not be missed by the politicians, police and other dominicans that have money, for awhile. but to the poor communities that feed off the sosua hooker trade, that influx of revenue will be missed. maybe you can explain how non taxed income directly injected into a poor household will be replaced?
come on now, it's not like there is a hooker in every household. there are zillions of households without hookers and the people eat everyday. how much of a puta's money really goes for milk and [CodeWord131]? can we agree the largest percentage of their hard earned dollar goes to the beauty salon, new nails, new clothes, new shoes, latest cell phone, minutes for the cell, and if any is left a new pair of shoes for the baby.

your kidding right? i am of the opinion that mongeres drop big money in dr. i've meet people from every continent in dr not just euros and yankees. some of whom have purchased homes "date" women and frequent many of the abundant mom and pops establishments, if not endeavoring to open their own.
the hooker might not buy milk and [CodeWord131]. incidentally, the owners of said mentioned business do purchase those items. when you eat at mom and pops food place or buy a sim card or leave a tip at a restaurant. you've done your part. i've tipped 500 road pesos before to a waitress. the chica i gave it too remembered me for years. she practically did a back flip after she found out it was really her tip.
so, i guess my point is, borrowing the ideology of reganomics, i would susupect that maybe the "putas" kids / family don't get the money directly but someones family benefits from our fun in the sun.
additionally, i believe that we spend a lot more money than a working class family of 4 on a budget trying to hold their marriage / family together after they've both considered divorce (parents).
peace,
bbl
i don't know if there is a nice marina for luxury yachts on the north coast. on the south coast in la romana there is a marina with luxury yachts and a high end complex called casa de campo.
i know that there have been plans for years to relocate the people from charamicos and turn that area over to russian developers. as mr gogo has said previously the dr is dotted with failed real estate projects, so who knows what the future will hold for sosua.
there's a good sheltered anchorage in luperon, well protected from the usual path of hurricanes over the island, and a fair number of cruisers use luperķand as a "hurricane hole". jimmy cornell's 'noonsite' website mentions the marina luperķand yacht club and marina puerto blanco. i don't know if either has a boat lift, though i do see what might be a boat ramp on the south side of the peninsula with the tropical luperon resort.
the current google earth image of luperon harbor is 28 oct 2006. it's not the greatest of resolution. i see plenty of boats, with the sort of size and hull shapes i can associate with cruising sailboats; i see an area of "bulldozer scrapings" east of the town, with a probable seawall and a "notch" that could become a travelift basin. a google search for "luperon marina" brought in a website for this marina development; but they don't even have as much "plans" as the architect's conception of the planned sosua marina.
eco marina luperon (close to that possible boat ramp) has a photo that shows their "plans for expansion," and the artist drew in a travelift and a yard lot that would permit major boat repair, bottom painting, etc. again, it's still just an 'artist's conception'.
ocean world, out past costambar, has a good, well-developed marina. they're very proud of the marina services, on their web site. i'll bet their pride is reflected in their prices.

I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you. She told me that she needed the money because the family's water-buffalo was sick.

BTW where the fuck is Coolie High? I heard that with the Sosua bad news, he won't come out the basement of his house. They say he has the same picture of Sade posted on the walls and can't stop singing love songs.
Yes P4P money can be replaced in Sosua. But not by these guys. That isn't even their intention. If you have seen some of their posts most of these guys are real estate amatuers. They have money and they are in it to get richer quick. Take the money and run. Their customers won't be the rich, although they'll say they are. They'll be mostly gullible middle class with a dream who have to go into debt to get it. The realtors will get their money, The debts go default. There goes the economy. This is what has happened in other DR towns. This is also the same type of thing that turned the US into a debtor nation.
The DR needs business and industry not real estate developements. There are ways to get this. I've heard they have been engaged in talks with other nations for years about this. This realtor money looks good to politicos, but it will do nothing for their nation.
Excellent, too many guys are over estimating the power of the monger dollar. I have said it before and will say it again. The monger dollar will NOT be missed.
The Dominicans want it all, monger dollars, family vacation dollars and big time investment dollars. They are hedging their bets, doing a cleanup but not a 100% sanitized cleanup. Monger dollars have fed many Dominicans.
Your kidding right? I am of the opinion that mongeres drop big money in DR.........
No I am not kidding. Really now the Sosua monger is only making the owner of NG richer, the owner of the puta bars ricer, La Passions owner getting richer by the day, etc. So you buy a couple of meals in a restaurant. So you dropped a 500 peso tip (silly, silly, silly). So you paid for a ST and TLN in one day. So you purchased a sim card. Do you really think this is helping the economy? The little bit of money that makes it back into the barrio to help one puta family is ziltch compared to the number of poor people living in the barrios. If you honestly think the monger's dollar is bringing many families above the poverty level you need to rethink.
Go back and read Jao's post. One rich Russian will drop more cash in Sosua in a year than you and your wingman will do in a lifetime.
well all do respect to you and your opinion, however i still disagree with you. i have never taken a chica home from those establishments, nor do i plan to in the near feature. i enjoy chicas tht i meet elsewhere.
i am most assured tht the money i give her, hence my doe not silly- i can set it on fire if i feel like it, is money tht is not going to a rich anybody at least if she doesn't have a pimp etc. i was speaking in generally not jut my wingman and i that stay for a week or so spending 200 usd a day on fun fun fun, i'm speaking on all of us plus the non-mongeres tht do the standard toursity thing and tip. most importantly i think the fact tht there is even notoriety attached to the otherwise inncuous name sosua really means something. furthermore, if chicas weren't making money why are there thousands and thousands of chicas there daily and from both sides of the island? every time one of goes there we see a hundered or more new faces. so if the chicas are not making money, what are doing back there week after week and year after year? of course the russian can! hey i'm just a working stiff like everyone else. but that is not the point and is in no way related to the original statement that you asserted. youstated that we don't help the chicas buy milk and [CodeWord131] for te baby. ps i don't stay in ng.
peace,
Neighborhoods can change and perceptions of neighborhoods can change. Sosua is ten minutes from a International Airport that has many International flights, as such Sosua is a relatively easy destination to reach (no long car / bus / taxi from the airport) , the road from the airport to Sosua is fairly scenic (unlike the ride from sdq to boca chica which is a dirty road). The International Airport in Samana does not have many flights and from what I remember that international airport in Samana to las terrenas was more than 10 minutes.
I spend a lot of my vacation time in Charomicos, (even if I can't spell it)
My chica took me for a walk to the cliff overlooking the river. On the other side of the river below (south side) the land has been cleared and leveled.
She told me that once not too long ago that area was a densely populated barrio. She said there were many sad stories of how they forced out all the local residents, and bulldozed the place flat. The idea was to build a hotel / marina complex, but it never got off the ground.
Geographically it is a natural sheltered harbour, and would be ideal, except for the existing barrio on top of the cliff above.
She said things move slow in the DR but in time it will happen, and the locals don't count for shit to the few people of influence who have always run things their own way, soley for the benefit of their own friends and family.
It was one of nhe few times she had tears in her eyes that didn't somehow end up costing me money.

Here's the math. Resort jobs paying 5000 pesos a month before taxes versus a chica making 10000 pesos a week tax free tricking. If you really think the Sosua money that used to flow to surrounding areas won't be missed, so be it.
Hey Guys,
I'm planning on Going to DR in March, When is the best time chicas are desperate?
Before Carnival or After Carnival?
