If you insist on placing into a geometric shape - then yes it is the golden triangle. By the way you can also keep the base of York and Majestic as same and draw the apex south wards towards Panorama and Ramada Hotels.

The idea is that is a good place for any body new in Dubai to begin with.

If you are landing - on say a three day trip, Then I suggest keep the first night just to look, see, smell and explore. The other two nights can be for punting. You are sure to get better mileage.

Well, my 2 year and running AMP connection has apparently gone dark for good. First of all, check out the Hotel Bar / Pub.
Normally you can find some WG there (most probably PRC).

The next place is the JULES BAR directly connected to the Meridien Airport Hotel. It is more or less in walking distance (about 15-20 min walk), but to take a cab is more recommended (2-5 min cab ride)
Also not far away is the BORADWAY hotel (5 mins cab ride) for daytime action.
If you want more, then you should go to Bur Dubai and check out the well known places e.g. YORK Hotel etc.
Just check the reports of distinction and you'll find what you are looking for.
