Been in Quito about 3 weeks. Taking spanish lrssons and staying with a family. Have hit abiut 5 or 6 clubs. The prices have gone up some since my last viist, La Nina is now $15. My favorites are Techo Rojo (217 Cordero) and Guajira. Unfortunately Techo Rojo closed last week. One of the girls told me they didn't pay the rent. But I have the digits of my 2 favorites there. Ok, enough joking. As far as the altitude sickness, I'm fine now, it took me about 48 hours or so to get 100%. My problem is that when I came here last year, I took it easy the first couple of days. I didn't visit my first casa until a week or two after I had arrived here. I think when you get here, you really need to take it easy the first day or two. This time around I was walking all over town on my first day (up La Gasca!) and I think that's what did me in.

Yeah, I will definitely check out some places in the north and south, but I have to admit, of the few $7 casas I have been to, I think I prefer the $15 ones. Sorry, just I've had better, unrushed experiences. Also, I like the fact that the $15 places have clean sheets on the beds!

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one in town right now. Bobisee and I actually have PMed back and forth a few times about the Spanish schools here in Quito, but we didn't post about it because we didn't think anyone else would be interested in hearing about non-pussy related activites on this site.

Hey Mraughh, thanks for your great post. It's funny you should mention Guajira, since that's where I went today. There is no chongo scene in Cumbaya. Its about 10-15 minutes from Quito by bus on InterOceanica. Consider this area the Beverly Hills of Ecuador. Lots of ex-pats, and very very wealthy Ecuadorians. Diplomats etc. Theres 2 really good things about Cumbaya.

1) is University of San Fransisco de Quito, which is a good college for Ecuador. Lots of hotties and these are the very rich kids that go there. Also its about 40% Ex-pat that go there from the states and europe. So if you want to meet english speaking girls, hang out around the small food and beer shops right across the street from the University. Whenever I go to work I always walk past the university for the eye-candy.

2) The center of CUmbaya has some really good restraunts. For Sushi, theres a wine bar that has some damn good chefs. Food quality is very high, theres a german restraunt that serves good deutsch food, a good chinese place called Pekin and some other decent ones. Sorry dont remember the names of the places, but well worth it if you are in the mood for some good eats.

I'll be heading over to Guajira tomorrow morning around 11am for some lovin before work. I'll see if anyone new is there then but more than likely will pick "Yadira" since she's my regular there more so than Pamela.

If nothing shows up in the Salinas thread, I'll post my findings there when I get back to Quito.

Well, what can I say. I've been a long time reader, very sporadic poster (you can go back and read my "useful" posts.- not proud nor ashamed of my posting), and I've certainly read each and every ecuador post there is. That said, I appreciate that there are some directions given here to orient me. It helps.
