GBP is a small, hole in the wall, not fancy p4p venue with a bar and rooms. It is located in a commercial office building. They don't allow smoking of cigarettes in the bar area because that don't like the cigarette smoke. To smoke a cigarette you can go near the window, down the hallway from the bar area or stand outside. I have met in person, more than ten other ISG members in santo domingo, who have been to GBP. None of those guys ever said anything to me, about bad odors at GBP. I have previously posted, I prefer GBP earlier in the day (your chance of encountering a stinky pussy will be less, earlier in the day). In the bar area I have never smelled anything foul, even with with some of the chicas giving lap dances, I guess my sense of smell is not like the rat in the movie "Ratatouille" (good movie). Most bars I have been in, usually have a bar smell from the alcohol. GBP, one chica for 1000 pesos. 2 chicas for 1500 pesos (about $20US per chica) , opens from around 2pm to 11pm, Monday to Saturday. If you want a fancy place, don't go to GBP.

Maybe that is why there is not too much information on it. Do the hotels you mention including La Morada have safes big enough to secure an Apple Mac air. I send La Morada an email, but they have not replied.

I'm making my first trip to DR in June, and arriving in Punta Cana. Will stay there for a few days, before taking the bus to the capital. I will be in the DR for 3 weeks, so my budget for lodging are on the cheap side. Aprox 60 USD / night. I'm more or less fluent in spanish, and have some contacts from social networks which I hope to meet. I like to be able to be at the beach or at least by a pool for daytime activities when I'm in this climate, so I hope this is possible to do also in Santo Domingo. As I understand its quite a hassle getting to the beaches in Boca Chica and Juan Dolio from the capital.
Been searching for hotels in Santo Domingo with swimming pools inside my budget, but have limited success. Also read most of the posts from the last year in this thread trying to find a hotel that fits. Apart-Hotel Plaza Colonial have swimming pool and seems to be ok price wise. This Hotel has bad rewievs on booking sites, and I have no idea if its chica friendly. Anyone here have any experience with this Hotel?
I'm also open for creative solutions where there maybe is possible to access the swimmingpool of a Hotel close by for a fee.

I would consider going to Sosua instead of Sd. I have hung out in SD and had fun. However you need a lot of knowledge to really have a good time. Sosua is made for mongers and the talent is very good. The price for a nice hotels are well within your range plus the beach is in walking distance. Walking distance is the majic word. The clubs, discos, and casas are very convient. What are you looking for. If it a lot of hot available girls then Sosua is where you want to go. PP and caberite is also very close for a change up.

Guacatela[/QUOTE]The new park that opened on the malecon. 5 minutes from the big hotels on the malecon (melia, marriott and intercontinental) , has sand volleyball, sand soccer and from a photo I saw, has a small beach with sand. I have seen the park but have not been to the beach part yet. I will check out the beach part in that park in a few weeks and post here. Taking a minibus or van (guagua) to boca chica or juan dolio is easy.
Apart-Hotel Plaza Colonial seems like an apartment building that has rentals, I have never visited the place and I don't know anyone who has stayed there. According to Google maps its location is just north of park independence, close to zona colonial.
Many times when I have visited the Dominican Republic, flying into santo domingo, I may make a reservation for the first one or two nights. If I like a place I will stay longer, if I don't like a place, I will move to another hotel or to a different city or town.
BQ Hotel in Bella Vista has a pool, chica friendly, price is about $86 on orbtiz (use promo code travel5 to save 5%). Hotel Villa Colonial in zona colonial has a small in ground pool, priced around $65US per night. Hotel Napolitano might sell passes to use their pool.
Santo Domingo is easy. Several Universities with numerous University students, numerous bars some of which have pros. 10 or more pay for play venues and freelancers and streetwalkers. Lots of chicas on the online social networking sites live in and around santo domingo.
In June the new Coral highway will probably be open, which means the travel time by bus from punta cana to santo domingo, will be less.
Some photos I took at villa colonial hotel (I have not stayed there yet and don't know about its chica friendliness policy. Most if not all of the smaller hotels I have used in santo domingo have been chica friendly).

I will probably make my way up north during my 3 weeks in the country, and the point and click mongering can be a lot of fun. I was thinking about going after the GFE and much debated semi- and non-pro girls this trip, and as I understand from RTFF those girls are not abundant in Sosua? But as I said, I probably have to visit Sosua as well to find out whats the fuzz about.

I have not seen La Morada and don't really know its exact location, maybe near calle danae. As Niceb has posted, hotel riparbella is chica friendly on calle danae. Also on calle danae are 4 other small hotels, pleasant residential street where those hotels are.
ISG member Gagoo travels with an Apple laptop. ISG member Gagoo has stayed at the Hotel Mystik (next door to the casas; girls house and satin dolls) on two trips to santo domingo. You can send him a PM, asking about the size of their in room safes or send a PM to ISG member Alex Deuce who probably knows about the size of the in-room safes at the Mystik).
The in-room safe at the hotel maison gatreux was not very big. I travel with a 17 inch $400 laptop and I usually don't use the in-room safes. There are other options for securing a laptop (cable locks and metallic mesh type travel bags than be locked etc.)
What size is your laptop. 15 inch?

They have a monthly rate of $450 for an apartment with kitchen. Over 20 days that would work out at about $25 per day. The place is not at all luxurious, but it is in a quiet but central location and is very chica friendly. The rooms are cleaned by a very diligent Russian woman who will also wash and iron your clothes for a small fee. You can cook on site, or there are several restaurants within walking distance.
In Puerto Plata the Puerto Plata Beach club has an even better pool. 75 feet long, and is chica friendly and right on the oceanfront beach on the Malecon. The pool is really spectacular. It is chlorinated, but very mildly, so not really noticeable. Pool has changing color underwater lights at night, and powerful jets like a jacuzzi. Also a waterfall type jacuzzi small pool on the side. Very nice. You can see it on Google Earth.
I think the rate is about $60 per night for single nights, but there is also a monthly rate, or you might be able to negotiate something like $45 per night for a three weeks stay as they are hungry for business.** You can get public taxis to Sosua for a dollar each way and it is a short moto ride from La Sirena supermarket that also has cafeteria, ice cream, Domino's, pharmacy and other amenities.

If you are staying in the country for 3 weeks the idea of visiting Sosua is very good.[/QUOTE]Rooms have been robbed at the casona dorada hotel (the metal bars near the outside windows at the casona dorada are easily broken, I would say stay away from the casona dorada until they upgrade the metal bars). I only know of one incident regarding the Discovery Hotel. Discovery Hotel has a good location facing the park independence and is one block from Pacos cafe and the start of zona colonial. I don't believe hotel alcaldeza has a pool, I have stayed there several times and never saw a pool.
It has a small pool, workout room and provides a very good breakfast. I love the place because of the location.
