As this forum was invaluable before I came out (and most Sexpats keep saying I don't feel like a first timer to them so I repeatedly recommend ISG.) I thought it only fair I repay the faith with my own first impressions of the City of Angels.

For any brits who haven't experienced the P4P scene outside Europe I would recommend Beer Garden for assimilation purposes (note. It is not a beer garden.) for two reasons. A) there is no bar fine and b) it is the closest thing to our most common way of pulling. Meet chick in bar, buy couple of drinks, have chat, go back to hotel.

DO NOT bet a girl she can drink a Heineken in one. A) you'll end up out of pocket because she will, and b) you'll have a yabbering, incoherent girl in your room shortly after. After telling her it was time to go about 10 times I had to pick her up and put her down near her clothes so she got the message. The other girl I found in Beer Garden was a dream, but we'll leave that one there, I don't want you Ba$t$rds swamping her!

From reading this forum I had settled on NEP as my number one target for good times. Hell fire, I could not be more let down. It is like Leeds indoor market was in the 80's. Run down, dirty, lopsided looking, slight smell of fish. Jesus, I walked round on two nights and between avoiding the LB's everywhere and the puddles it seemed like a real waste of time and was glad to see the exit and return to relative normality. Much better (for me personally) to sit at Golden next to the Parking Lot and watch the girls work the wallets (sorry, punters.). Although last night I really felt sorry for the tiny thing being dragged along by the 30 stone sumo wrestler. Or the big 75 yr old looking guy taking home what looked to me to be a heart attack sandwich (no, it wasn't Elvis style deep fried crap. It was a pair of saucy looking minxes)

If you leave Nana and walk down Suk (after crossing first) there are girls on the street all day for you. Obviously higher risk factor because no one to complain to. But if you are sensible (checking for the signs, like you would if you picked any girl off of any street, don't leave anything lying around etc) then you'll be OK.

Street bars. They pop up after the market stalls close and can be great. Just make sure you establish the prices you are paying so no one can roll you over. Met a great girl at one near my last hotel, had Tom Yam with her, a fellow Brit, then back to the room. When she demanded it again even though she had to go at 6 to sort her child out (it was 5:50) I just had to smile inside. She was just so damn horny, wants me to go back this evening and take her home ASAP. But I'm going to Patts now so may come back before home time for round two.

Cowboy. For anyone with an Upskirt fetish, you must, must, must visit Baccara (t? ). Right at the very end on the left. Glass dancefloor with girls in schooly uniforms and no panties dancing. Finally food. Street food is everywhere, some look cleaner than others. Choice is yours. If you want risk free and fairly cheap food I can recommend Foodland (one soi over from Beer Garden). It is always busy (the best indicator) but is in the front of a very clean supermarket. Yesterday I had chicken and fried rice, a nice lime squash and some ice cream for 120bt. Winner.

Sorry, one more thing. Maintaining politeness, deference and great manners will definitely bring you advantages here. Also, the bigger the smile the more the girls like you. I have a massive cheesy grin and it seems to be like a lighthouse beacon for girls out here. From 'Sawatdee Ka, thankyou for smiling sir' from the market stall / massage girls, right through to dancing girls focusing on you just to draw a reaction! If you can smile lots and show deference you've a step ahead already.

I also have met this type of girl in the bar and was attracted. The girl might go with you and have a great time, if the chemistry is right. On the otherhand she might end up just being incredibly frustrating and always find some excuse not to go to bed with you, and be your friend instead.

Speaking Thai helps but is not necessarily going to charm her. If you manage to work out how to push the right buttons, great!

So generally these girls are intriguing because they are so choosy, but hard to get to. So in general, I don't recommend it for the average guy.

If your type of girl is the one who really likes being in a bar, great. That's not the best girl for all of us.

But seriously, many great girls don't like to be there and maybe having a not so great time (bored to death). But give them a chance to change dramatically when called over for a drink. If they still act negatively to your attempted entertainment and chat up, O.K. ditch them as a lost cause. But if they start to smile at you and laugh now, O.K. you have cured their boredom perhaps.

Their is nothing wrong with calling over multiple girls till you find one you are really happy with. If the first girl gives you misgivings, fine, call another one.

I like to see how a girl reacts after a couple of alcoholic drinks, assuming she is not drunk already. But alcohol can reveal bad character traits. Transforms some people into dogs (with apologies to the canine variety).

But many girls turn into really fun types after a SMALL number of drinks and loosens inhibitions, should they have any.

You and I both know that there are lots of these kinds of girls out there, they are called normal Thai girls, and you just don't find them in a bar very often, this was a fluke.
