DS, thank you very much for your feedback. I will be there on the week before Easter and should be out of The Philippines by 18 April 2011. I do not plan to be around during the Easter celebration as I was told it can be quite chaotic.

Given your information, I think I will go to AC as planned. As for hotel, I will read the forum for any recommendation or use back the last hotel I was in. Lets see what sort of "treasure of information" the forum holds.

You can travel the entire length of Fields Ave and Perimeter Road by trike in under 5 minutes for P70-100 dependant on you negotiation skills. If you pay more than that you are over paying. I usually drop 100 because it is easier for me to do so rather than carrying around smaller bills but everytime I am with a girl and I do so they give me a hard time for paying more than the P70 standard rate.

Perimeter is better to visit during the day as the lookers will be gone early and many bars close between 10PM and midnight. I highly recommend Lost in Asia (LIA) as a starting point and working your way back towards Fields as the day goes on. LIA has many good looking girls in the 7-9 scale range but by 4PM most of them are barfined already.

As for qaulity. Both areas have stunners, spinners, average looking girls, and butt arse ugly ones. You will just find it easier to find what you are after a bit quicker in Fields as there are more bars in closer proximity to each other.

I usually rotate where I stay each trip between the Wild Orchid down in the Fields area on A. Santos and the Clarkton at the far end of Perimeter. Both are pretty good places to stay and have a great selection of girls nearby and in 17. 5 years of traveling there I can honestly say that there are no draw backs to staying on either end of the strip. I have also stayed at many of the hotels in between. I wouldn't worry about changing hotels. Stick with what you have planned and see how it goes this time around.

If all you had was 1 night I would recommend sticking to the Fields area but if you have more time than that you would be making a mistake not checking out both areas. I used to perfer the Fields area back in my younger days before it became so commercialized with all of the bigger bars but now prefer the Perimeter bars myself and not just because I am part owner of a bar there.

OK trikes are a rip off and if your over 5 ft tall and 110 lbs then you can; t get your fat ass in one very easy. I am not big 5-7 and 220 but I don't ride in no trike Plus 70 pesos for a 4 min ride is way to much. There is a jeepney route and its 7 pesos to ride one from checkpoint all the way up perimeter and passes every bar along the way. Always carry some chump change for this occasion and you save tons of money. Also if you stay in a hotel up the perimeter most will have free transport to fields and some are right by the bars too. The locals like the bars on perimeter cause the beers cheaper and the bars are more like the old days of AC small dinky joints. Fields bars are huge

From my perspective, the ladyboys are "better" in Angeles because they just say "Hello," and leave you alone. In Thailand, they are very aggressive. I broke my AC not too long ago myself, and let me tell you: for your first trip or 2 you definitely want to stay in a hotel in the Fields area. Yes, Fields hotels cost more compared to Perimeter hotels, about 50% more for a comparable room, but consider:

- you plan to barhop A LOT (as did I) , which means you invariably end up in the Fields area night since the Perimeter bars are more daytime bars. Most Perimeter bars are not very interesting by 7-8 PM since all the nice girls will have been barfined by then. So at night you will be in barhopping in the Fields area, and likely to be buzzed from a dozen or so beers, you don't want to be walking around Perimeter in that state.

- if you are going to pay for the rip-off trikes all the time, at 50-100 p per ride, the money you save on your hotel room will quickly disappear. Different if you take the Jeepneys of course.

- In the morning / afternoon you have a wide variety of places for breakfast / lunch within easy walking distance at Fields. In Perimeter, you are likely to be confined to a few places, unless you like long walks. SM Clark mall is about a 15 minute walk from Fields. And trust me, you will go to the mall, since there is fuck all else to do AC besides the bars and bargirls.

- late at night, you can always just hang around in the Fields area, it's safe (as long as you stick to the main streets, don't go into deserted sidestreets). Not so much in Perimeter. In Fields, with easy walking distance, my places to go for food are: Kokomoz, Paradise beer garden, Tequila Reef, Margarita Station, that cheap shawarma place, Pacific Breeze hotel restaurant, Strawberry Hill bar/resto.

there are also a few part-timers of middle-aged moms looking to supplement their purse to make ends meet. they all seem to quote me php5000 at first. when i tell them that i can barfine an 18 year old teenager for php1500, they quickly come to their senses or balk hoping to find a dumb mark. interestingly, koreans are their favorite clients. these gals you might see every couple of months.

there is a very small group of very pretty college girls who usually work in pairs or more. most will exclusively troll for koreans or japanese and they want big bucks for their time and they will only go with you as a group. these gals will usually ignore many westerners especially if you're just wearing shorts and sandals. i think you have to look like you have a big wallet and a small schlong to hook these gals. usually spotted during weekends, these girls are hot but hard to land.

skytraks have fls of mixed persuasions including bar girls but, alas, i have not parlayed in this arena.

on my last visit to ac, i have observed some of the above.

i did venture in skytrax on my last night there and it was about 1/2 full at about 12am. mostly locals with their chicks on a night out and also the left over bargirls from perimeter that were not bf. not many stunners as most were avg. lookers. not much to look at, place 1/2 full. music on the loud side so i left and wander around field bars instead.

7peso is far better than trying even to negotiate to the rip off price of 70p-and some will even balk at this price and ask for more. Or I alway look at it this way. Do I want to cramp into a small trike, pay 70peso or take a jeepney and the beer will be free (as both will cost about the same).

As you have not been here yet, don't make the mistake that jeepneys run all along Perimeter and Fields, they DO NOT. Jeeps only travel the length of Perimeter until Checkpoint (Fields begins about 100m further down). The jeepneys are forbidden and do not travel on Fields at all, but the walk along entire Fields itself is not that long so no real need for jeepney to travel here anyway.

Perimeter bars closes about 12am or so and the jeepneys do not run very often at late night as not many customers at that time. I remember leaving one bar as it closed (about 12:30) and waited outside nearly 15min before a jeepney passed by-during the day, it's more like a passing jeep every 15 seconds. Didn't even see a trike out there at that time of night.

For a week it will cost me less than $100. I will be barhopping and am not afraid to walk out of a place so until I get my sea legs more options will be better. I WILL get off of Fields to try the scenes but since I will be on vacation and a short one at that I will want to be in a social area. From your description I would rather be in Fields than Perimeter at 3AM and I can take Perimeter girls back to my hotel for a cheap ride.

If you feel like going out at night no need for transportation for most hotels out there. Plus you'll have more food options in the area. In the end, I have a feeling you'll end up on Fields anyway most of the time, but like I said earlier, it really depends on your likes and dislikes. I think Perimeter ends up being more of a value play for people living there, but when you're on your once in a long while trip, you'll want something different.
